are people rejected though?

No idea. I got the pre-interview hold message today too. Grr! I'm kind of hoping they actually did make some cuts . . . it would give me a reason to be optimistic . . . but I have a feeling they just decided to not make decisions on a whole bunch of us, wait for the final secondaries to come in (does anyone remember when their sec. deadline is?), and then make cuts in the new year. 🙁 (this is total speculation, though - I really have no idea)

It has been under review since July until today. Hold....

Sweet, add me to the guest list for the hold party! Kind of a pleasant surprise to see some new text...I've been checking that page since August and it's been the same boring under review message since then.

Same hold message. I'm screwed. One interview and no news from any schools at all otherwise. Panic! I hate the MCAT! One bad day and my life is ruined.

anyone get an interview invite from GWU recently?

I also got that message, but mine was longer. Is everyone just shortening theirs or am I the only one who got this one?
"Your application to The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences is complete and has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee. To date, no final decision has been made and the Admissions Committee has placed your application on hold for re-review at a later date. If we require any further documentation or if your status changes, we will contact you immediately. We do sincerely appreciate your interest in our program. Thank you for your patience."

got this one too.

i think everyone else was shortening theirs. good luck guys!

Does this mean waitlist or rejection? I have heard that acceptances are first e-mailed to you.

Unfortunately, I think you're right. :/ So far everyone has said that acceptances are e-mailed. Sorry, I hope it's a waitlist and not a rejection! When did you interview?

I interviewed in mid-late October. I called the admissions just to see what they had to say, and they claimed that some acceptances are not e-mailed, so I am still holding out (although barely) for an acceptance!

I really hope this the case. My status is the same as yours. I interviewed early Oct.

Looks like I'm in the same boat with something supposedly being mailed to my house. I feel like it's probably a waitlist or rejection letter, but I'll hold out hope that they just decided to send the acceptance packet with no email 😛

There are several people here who said they received an e-mail when they got accepted. I got the same status as you did "correspondence mailed" and it was a waitlist letter.

I got the hold message also. I'd kind of rather be rejected just so I know something for sure, I HATE being in limbo.

I got the hold message too 🙁 and feel the same way. I'd much rather have a rejection. I'm disappointed too because I thought I had a good shot at this school

You're still waiting to hear back from your Oct. 23 interview???! It looks like around here most people heard back in about a month give or take. However, they did say 6-8 weeks on my Nov. 21st interview but I assumed that was more or less just a conservative time estimate. If I were you, I would give them a call.

Did you get a decision yet TrojanMD? I'm a Trojan, too. Haha "Fight-on" this weekend! I feel like that's my motto for this application cycle.

Noooope, nor do I expect one anytime soon. I was hoping to get a decision by the New Years, but considering you have been waiting for quite some time, it doesnt seem to be likely. Can't wait for the game this Saturday even though it wont really be a game because comn lets get real here, usc >>>>> ucla😀. Have any acceptances yet? Let me know when you hear back from GW. Maybe we'll be classmates (again) next year :luck:

I got the hold also. At least it's something after waiting more than five months.

I checked my status and nothing. Is this a good sign post interview? The agonizing wait continues...mail, email, phone call, please something transpire into an acceptance so I can go out in New Years with a BANG 😀

It definitely took them 8 weeks to decide on me.

I interviewed early Oct and my status just changed today

I interviewed on the 23rd of October. It has been about 6 weeks for me so far.

I interview oct 16 and i am still waiting 🙁. I want to hear from them soon

Are there any Dec 11th interviewees in here?

pre-interview hold also. on the rejection 2008-2009 thread there was one person who has been rejected, so I guess they have sent out some rejections.

hold msg on my status page, too. blah

Has anyone who interviewed on Oct. 31st heard back from GW regarding acceptance, waitlist, or rejection?

I interviewed Oct 14 - still waiting... but I've been distracted by waiting for news from my Oct 10 Pitt interview so... haven't been focusing as much on this one.

I want some news people! Any news!

I interviewed October 17th and just got my waitlist letter yesterday. Maybe it's a good thing you're still waiting. If the status page says they are sending you something in the mail, it will almost certainly be a waitlist letter or a rejection, so I think no news is good news until you get the acceptance email or a thin envelope ...

Good luck! :luck:

I interviewed 10/24 and haven't heard anything back either.

Would you mind sharing your stats and your overall impression of the interview? Thank you.

I interviewed Oct 7th- still waiting...

Pitt's a long wait too? darn. I interviewed later than you (oct 28) and already anxious! Guess I should hunker down for a couple weeks.

Is GW just not going in order? Because people have heard decisions who interviewed later than you.

I interviewed Nov. 7th, so I should probably not expect to hear before 2009 huh?

38Q MCAT, 3.6 GPA.

My student interview was my worst so far this season. The girl seemed really snobby about the school and asked a lot of strange questions. Every time I started to answer, she would look at me like my answer was unintelligent and then make a note of that on her paper. She said the point was to see if she would want me as a classmate, and after the interview, I definitely didn't want to be in any of her classes.

My faculty interview was great. We went over time talking about everything from golf to solving healthcare policy. He somewhat repaired my interest in GW after the student one.

Overall, I liked GW for the hospital and the location, but I wasn't impressed with the program, and the interview day was dissatisfying because there were so many people interviewing that everything seemed rushed and thrown together. I guess maybe they picked up on my sentiments and that's why I got waitlisted. Not to mention that my student interviewer probably didn't write a very positive review for me.

Hope that helps!

i got:
"Correspondence concerning the status of your application has been sent to you via email."
....but I haven't received an email

i interviewed 11/18 and haven't been checking my status until today. has anyone else gotten this? is it just outdated from before my interview? not sure what it means...

I felt the same way! My student interviewer made me feel awful! The only response she ever made to anything I said was to state that my response was "too broad". Maybe we had the same person, what were her initials? The whole experience made me a little sour on the school, but I'm still not too happy about being waitlisted. Does anyone have any idea how that works? The letter didn't say anything about where on the list I fall.

Many thanks, BlurryLines! Your post was very helpful.

I interviewed around 10/23, just got my waitlist letter. The waitlist is not ranked, and movement typically happens in late spring/early summer. Sometimes there is a lot of movement, sometimes barely any. I received all this info when I called admissions this morning. Looks like a lot of us will be in this thing for the long haul.

I interviewed the 3rd week of october. the status page says that they are reviewing my application still and to be patient because they make a comprehensive review before making a decision. so since it doesn't say that mail is on the way, i shouldn't be worried, right? bc folks whose status page said mail was on the way, got waitlisted. why does this school take so long to make a decision? This is the longest turnaround time for any of the schools where I've interviewed.
