Hey guys, I interviewed Jan 20th and I haven't heard back from them either. I don't really know what to think either, I'm just as tired of waiting and then freaking out and then waiting some more ... :scared:

Not to get your hopes down or up - just letting you guys know what happened - but I called about 2 weeks ago and Ed said, "Honestly, it'll be about 4 more weeks at the latest." That would time the end to about mid-April.. which makes sense since it's 2 weeks before the re-visit weekend.
 
Looks like no calls will be made today since it is now past 11:00.

Better luck tomorrow!

The wait goes on..... Have you called recently? I think I may call sometime this week, as it has been about a month since I called last.
 
I just logged in to the Application Status page and noticed that there is a new "Messages" tab that I hadn't noticed before. It shows all of the messages that have been emailed to you. Maybe they are getting closer to resolving their computer glitches?

I haven't called for a while either. I never get Ed on the phone, it's always been Terri who picks up. Getting answers from her is not pleasant or easy, so I don't think I'll call again. If you do call, please post what they say!

Have you been calling Ed's number directly or have you been calling the main admissions office number?

Cell phone rang with an unknown number during class this morning... I sprinted out only to have some phony automated insurance solicitor on the end of the line. A brief moment of excitement in an otherwise dull biochem class.

Haha, that sucks. That has happened to me several times over the past few months.
 
I just wanted to express my sympathies with all those still waiting.

I interviewed at Davis pretty late in 2007 and didn't get an acceptance until June 1st (about 12 weeks after my interview). I had already given up my apartment and arranged for a move to the east coast. My friends had given a big going away party and the movers were due to come in on the Monday. On the Friday before, I got the acceptance.

I'm mentioning this to let folks know that Davis gives out acceptances way late, so don't fret if you haven't heard back, or don't hear back for a couple of months. And for those worrying about what happens if you're all prepped or even moving to another state, the drive back is worth it.

I'm starting clerkships here at UC Davis in another few weeks and couldn't be happier with the school. It's a great place.

If you have any questions about the school, the area, or need help in making a decision, let me know if there's anything that I can do. I'm not a blind cheerleader for the school and if there's something you're looking for that isn't right for you here, I'll let you know.

Again, my sympathies. For all of you late interviews out there whose scores were slightly below UCD's average, keep up the hope. Better late than never...
 
hey I called yesterday and spoke with ED.
I've been waiting since I interviewed in Dec. He confirmed that review process is random and not in chronological order, and said that I should hear by the end of the month (april). While its frustrating to hear this its better than being left in the dark. So another long month awaits us. Congrats to those who got in, sorry to those( like me) still waiting.

You know what...that's great news, because all of us paranoid applicants are sweating bullets thinking we are rejects-in-waiting. Thanks for passing along the info. Cheers to renewed hope!

Happy April Fools' Day everyone! Today marks 16 weeks for me. I called Toledo this morning and found out I was placed on the alternate list... My agony continues. Could Davis call today with good news? I won't hold my breath.

Sorry to hear about Toledo 🙁 I hope today is our day. It doesn't look like calls have gone out yet this week, so I'll be manning my phone throughout all my classes today! Good luck everyone 🙂 Please post any news good or bad.
 
Thanks notdeadyet. Hang in there everyone! It would be nice if I'm lucky enough to hear in June or some time in the summer, but still. I was really hoping to be home for the summer instead of staying through a humid summer on the east coast.

Just another Day.....and a lost job opportunity that required a commitment. 🙁 Lets hope Davis makes it worthwhile!

I don't think that Davis really considered the consequences of leaving people completely in the dark for 4-5 months post interview when they decided to make the review process random. Hopefully all the bugs are worked out of the system and applicants for 2010 won't have to go through this.
 
I emailed Ed this morning and just got this reply so I thought that I would share it with you all.

"Thank you for your message. Admission records are now being reviewed in chronological order and the Admission Cmte. is working hard on getting decisions to those folks interviewed in December. The ReVisit Day is open to applicants who have been offered admission only. Thank you for your patience and continued interest in our medical school."

I am a little unclear if that means that they are being reviewed for the first time or if they are reviewing decisions made already and preparing to email those decisions. Thoughts?
 
I interviewed Feb 8. Just spoke to Ed. He hopes to have Feb interview decisions out before the end of MAY. Potentially another 8 weeks to wait.
 
Wow... That means ppl accepted who interviewed in feb won't have a chance to attend revisit and that can also mean that the class is potentially full n overbooked by that time. Kind of sad...they should meet everyday of the week.. My interview in december was cancelled without notification n by the time I found out only feb dates were left... What a disadvantage... 🙁
 
Talbo - I was in the same boat. I actually flew from the East Coast to California to find that my interview had been cancelled and I had to rebook. He said end of May at the LATEST not as an absolute.
 
That happened to me too! I was signed up for a date in December as well and it magically disappeared and when I called the admissions office, they just said, "that means that that date is no longer being offered." So I didn't get an interview date until later in January..

Anyway, we have to be strong!! Not like we can do much to change our applications now, just have to sit and wait some more.. :xf::xf::xf:
 
Was the interview date 12/15? Don't remember if that was it. Someone on sdn PMed me about it n flew from DC and had to fly bak I don't remember and its too hard to check on my blackberry who it was. Supposedly an email was sent which was not the case. Anyways the online system etc got me really irritated but of all the interviews I went on I liked davis students the best. Good luck to all of us, I hope we all get good news soon.

I would guess it probably means that any Dec. applicants that haven't been reviewed are going to be reviewed for the first time. If they had already reviewed them, they would've called or emailed. But that is just my guess. 🙂

On another note, has anybody else gotten an email about confirming prerequisites taken in the fall? And if so, have there been any follow ups afterwards?

That would be my guess as well, except for the fact that it appears that nobody has been placed on the waitlist yet....

What did the email say? I do not have all the prereqs filled and I think I might be in line for that email.
 
Just asked for grades and course details. I had completed them so should be ok.
 
My agony continues! No news from Davis and my third waitlist (Creighton this time). I guess I will know by June or July if I am going to be a doctor.

My email was directly from Ed, with the following text:

The Admissions Cmte. requires additional information from you. Please provide me with the title(s) of the course(s) that you completed to fulfill our <Insert requirement here>. The Admissions Cmte. would also like the grades you received in those courses and when they were completed. Thank you for your attention to this request.
************

I also received that email a few weeks ago. I submitted said grades a few days later. I didn't receive a reply until I sent a follow-up email a few days after that, requesting confirmation that they received my original class/grade information.
 
Got a call 30 minutes ago and I am in!! I interviewed on jan 21. I cannot believe it and could not be happier! I had convinced myself I was waitlisted or rejected. Don't give up hope!
 
Congrats Lizardalinat! So much for Ed telling us that he is still working on December Interviews and they are going on chronological order. Ahh the mysteries continue.
 
Ed called me this morning and left me a voicemail telling me to call him back (I sleep in late....I actually kind of heard the thing but not enough to wake me up). I tried calling him many times but he wouldnt answer, and I was wondering why he didnt just give me good news over the phone...I started to panic remember when I called a long time ago he said, "Ill call you if its good or bad news".

I interviewed January 7th, and if anyone remembers, I basically gave up hope because so many people ahead of me were getting in....I hate saying this to you guys because so many people said it to me, but dont give up! Its really is just random, and all you can do is wait...
 
I think they reviewed mine before that got said. I got an email Wednesday asking for confirmation of prereqs and sent that immediately, then got the call today.

Indeed. Maybe he meant NON-chronological order? He just left the non out to make us feel better.

When you had to reply with a confirmation of prereqs, did you have to indicate completing them before matriculation in late july or that you have already completed them or in the process? Thanks for your response!
 
It's pretty much certain that they've made decisions on quite a few waitlists and rejections, but they haven't told anyone yet. I'm frustrated that I'm having to modify my future plans and check obsessively like this because Davis isn't notifying us of a decision that likely has been made quite a while ago, and especially because instead of giving us a solid time period to hear back, they're just dragging it along with "one more month, one more month." At least schools like UPenn and Columbia, even with their non-rolling admissions and relatively late notification, give some kind of time frame for hearing back so that we can anticipate accordingly. Davis is just dragging us behind the cart without any time scale.

I'd have to agree. If people on this board are all accurately relaying what they've been told, then the information Davis gives over the phone certainly seems to be inconsistent with how decisions are actually made and how/when applicants are notified of decisions. I guess we should give them the benefit of the doubt and just chalk it up to technical difficulties...But it's certainly frustrating.

I am sorry you all didnt get a call today, I would have loved to celebrate with all of you. I completely understand the frustration, I was equally frustrated late night before going to bed...but me getting in, and I thought for sure they had made the waitlist-rejection decisions and were not telling anyone, means that they really hadn't looked over everyone. For whatever reasons, they are being queer, but at least the phrase "no news is good news" applies once more 😳.

(I've always wanted to use the word queer in the right context)
 
Is Davis still handing out interviews? Haven't heard ANYTHING from them since secondaries.

I completed all my prereqs 12/2008 during fall semester.
 
A friend of mine who applied to Davis almost ten years ago said she interviewed in October and didn't get in until June! This clearly is not new. It's funny how the school has such a good reputation in all other respects.

Congratulations to this week's batch of acceptees.

so i havent read through all the pages of this thread yet but does anyone know if any interviewees from February and March have been accepted yet? Or has it just been december and january? Thanks.
