Same here. I had predicted emails will go out today or tomorrow last week when I saw that the status page would be going down soon. Don't write off the goose until you see the fox going into the hole.

I would guess that those dates you guys have are the dates they DECIDED you'd be invited, but the system wasn't "allowed" to email out until some time, probably tomorrow morning.

What do I win if I'm right? :laugh:

I think you are going to be wrong my friend, it says, "Interview Request Email Sent" and next to it has the date. In any case, I just emailed them to let them know they are having this issue.

Yeah but that could just be the way they programmed it. The date you get an "invite" is displayed as the date, and the extra thing displayed for an interview invite is "email sent [that date]." Anyway, we'll see.

EDIT: Oh yeah, almost forgot. CONGRATS!
 
Here is what it said at the bottom of my invite:

We are moving our application process to an automated, on-line system. The transition is not yet complete. You will be receiving a 2nd, automated e-mail from our system later this month inviting you for an interview. Please IGNORE that e-mail as we will be manually assigning you to interview dates.

On my status page, it says I was invited 10/27; I don't think those dates are accurate.

Hey thanks Bradstein! Appreciate that! I am curious to find out what happened. Whatever it was, I just wish they would send the emails to everyone already! I hope you get your invite, be exciting to meet someone with a VR 15! Goodluck :luck: mate.
 
Hey guys, no worries, the school is acting really...unreliable. I called to ask about the status page, and they told me, "there is a glitch in the system". The secretary was very rude (she might get this a lot I suppose) and when I asked "so have I or have I not been offered an interview" she said "NO" without looking anything up. Maybe she can't look anything up but this is pretty gay! I went back to check my status and the whole interview invite email thing was gone! I am not sure what the "glitch" is! Did I just see something that I was not supposed to see or did the computer make a mistake and I really dont have an interview? Man I'm going to be annoyed if they simply take it away.

But anyways, this does leave hope for anyone who has not seen that message, looks like you guys all might be still invited. Goodluck!

lol, I have no idea myself and I was up all night so excited that i'd be visiting davis! If you dont want to follow i'll give a quick update: someone posted that the status page had changed to show interview invites, I checked, confirmed that this was real, celebrated!!, called this morning to be told "No you are not invited for an interview" and the status page changed back to showing that nothing had happened. I just wish I hadn't celebrated😳

Ohh I read the past page...still confused though! What's wrong with their system?! That is a crazy story, and I bet you have been invited for interview! Weird...

so my status page shows 2ary complete and no mention of interview. However, there is a new tab at the top titled "interview" that allowed me to schedule a date... Did anyone else do that ??

I see the tab, but I'm planning to wait for any official notification of an invite before I do anything. I'd rather not jump the gun and then find out that the invite was a mistake/glitch 😳

i don't have this. maybe it really means you are invited. i would call them to find out.
 
Is anyone else having problems with getting to the application status page?

Edit: Never mind, the link in the email still works.

i also have a interview tab at the top of my application and i just thought it was there so i played around with it until it asked me to confirm a date then i came to check sdn
 
Wow, Davis is slow... They entered my letters on 10/08!
 
Even though I was invited and scheduled for interview through email, my status page showed no changes.
 
Aww man, I submitted my AMCAS on July 4, and still no word from UC Davis or UCLA. Does that mean I've been rejected presecondary? You'd think they'd email to tell me that. Do you guys think 4 months is a long enough wait to email them about?

Davis and UCLA have not sent out any rejections yet. Davis only takes ISers...so you'll have a hard time getting a secondary from them.

I think you should call. 4 months is a long time.

I don't actually know if it makes a difference with Davis. Their MD/PhD program isn't funded by the NIH, so they have no reason to drop their IS preferences for the program.

Meh, who knows. This whole process is just complicated and crazy 😛.

I called the school, again, and I told them that there is an interview tab still on the status page but I know theres a glitch. I asked if I should pick an interview date? She was suprised that there was an interview tab and told me that the glitch had been fixed😕. She said so if there is a tab, go ahead and pick a date 😀, and that emails will come later. I'm still scared to pick a date, although that December 1st seems pretty tempting. I really wish they would email and tell us whats going on....

oh well, looks like if you got the tab you got an invite...maybe...(if she can be trusted...she never looks anything up lol)

Yea I called and the lady who answered the phone told me to just pick an interview date after I told her that I have the "Interview" tab on my application status page. I also asked if it would be OK to schedule my interview now even though I haven't received an invite email yet and she told me that it was OK.

In my class at Davis there are several OOS people and not all of them are MD/PhD. So it's possible for OOS people to get a secondary/interview/get accepted here.

Did they grow up OOS or completed their undergrad OOS?

Grew up OOS.
There are some that only went OOS for undergrad, but I think they are still CA residents.

I might do that too! I really want one in December to get it out of the way, but a January 5th would allow me to focus on the interview and nothing else, since I have finals in December. Man I can't make up my mind, but i am happy I get to go to Davis. I just hope the school is super nice and friendly, unlike the vibe I have gotten so far on the phone...😳

i just wanted to let you all know that i physically went to the admissions office today (i live in sacramento). anyway, she told me that if you have the interview tab then you should sign up for a date. i asked them if they would be sending some sort of confirmation email, and she basically told me to wait. she also mentioned they were doing things "backwards" this year. i have no idea what that means.

It means they accept you, then interview you obviously.

Crap...I get the sense that she meant that UC Davis is interviewing the weaker applicants first (weaker of the people they plan to interview). Which means that getting an invite this early is not such a good thing. The more I think about it, the more it seems that this is the case for a couple reasons:

1. UC Davis is trying to minimize the number of applicants it has to take off the waitlist. By interviewing weaker applicants first, they'd be targeting those who are likely not to have other acceptances at "top" schools. Meanwhile, by interviewing "top" candidates later in the season, UC Davis would give those with already good acceptances leeway in withdrawing from UC Davis before the interview, thus reducing the need for a long waitlist.

2. Judging from the MDapplicants profiles of those who got invites, for many of us, it is our first UC invite (myself included)...which seems to be noteworthy in itself in making the school seem like it's targeting what it considers to be in the lower part of the interviewable range.

Am I just overthinking it? Oh, whatever. I'm just glad for an interview, so there's no point in depressing myself over an invite. Pretty crazy, huh?
