I'm right there with you. I've been complete for 3 months, they cashed my check a month ago, and when I called on Monday they told me "a few more weeks". Unfortunately, at this point I'm not sure I'd take the interview if it was offered, because it would be so expensive with so little chance of paying off, and I've gotten used to the idea of staying on the east coast. If they offer me an invite before I hear from UMass or BU I may go, otherwise I just don't think I can afford it for such a small chance of getting in. I'm extremely bummed. 🙁

I called the admissions office today...there IS an ExCom meeting today. Sounds like it's in the afternoon or evening though...

Hey does anybody know if UW didn't let out of region people apply two years ago? Some guy said that he tried to apply but they wouldn't let him on AMCAS.

Medhope, that's weird...as far as I know, out of region people could always at least try designating UW on their primary to try and get the secondary. I don't see any reason why AMCAS wouldn't want a free $30, because it's always up to the schools individually to screen for secondaries, which is where most of the OOR people are caught out.

So apparently I was a little brain dead today...the calendar shows an ExCom meeting on the 6th and 9 (possibly for Alaska). I don't know why I asked if there was an ExCom meeting today and furthermore, why the guy in the admissions office told me there was one!

Plus, Frannie you should hear from the one right after your interview (ie the the 6th), right?. I think my job is slowly turning my brain into mush, I don't know why I'm confused 🙁

Oh, I see what happened. I thought there was one today because I was looking off of an outdated version of the 2008-2009 calendar (10/17) instead of the newer version (12/10). Maybe the guy at the admissions office made the same mistake?

Nothing here on my end yet! :luck:

Oh maybe that's what I did too....I was wondering where I originally got the 7th

I am heading to Seattle at the end of January for an Idaho interviewing day, very excited to learn more about this school!

That was 15 accepted? USNWR says 30 were accepted - are the other 15 md/phds? Anyone know?

Do you or anyone know how exactly WWAMI interviews are scheduled? I received an email ;ast month saying I was invited for an interview, but it only gave me the range of possible dates, not an actual date. Did you get an email like this and then another email later? Or call them? It would be nice to get my ticket bought and such.

For those "still under consideration", I thought I'd offer up some hope in what seems like a very random process.

I got a phone call tonight from the Excom member of my interview panel. He offered me admission. It was completely unexpected... and a great surprise going into the weekend. I didn't even know there was an Excom mtg today.

Here's how it played out for me:

11/16/08 - Secondary Complete
11/25/08 - Interview Invite
12/02/08 - Interview
01/09/09 - Admission

Good luck to all those still out there. Feel free to post any questions, and I'll answer them as best I can.

I interviewed yesterday in Anchorage and I just received the phone call that I am accepted as an Alaska WWAMI student! :wow:

I am so happy I doubt that I will sleep tonight!

Congrats GirlInGreen and Tiocon! I'm so glad that all the worrying and obsessing can stop for you guys now--it must feel amazing! 😛😛😛

Tiocon, how long were you "under consideration" for? Did you send them any updates that you thought might have swung the decision in your favor? Thanks!

I am a Washington resident (Seattle). Frannie, I debated whether or not to send an update, but chose to hold off. Nothing really significant had happened since my interview. I did send each of the physicians on my panel a very short email thanking them after my interview. I don't think that made any difference though.

I initially got the "we are going to invite you" email with a range of dates. They will send you another one with an assigned day later. They don't have a lot of flexibility but you could call if it absolutely won't work.

yeah...my interview was in early in october and i've been in the still under consideration category for quite some time. keepin' my fingers crossed! good luck to all.

Hi everyone!

I wish you all the best of luck in this crazy process!

I found out I was accepted on Friday and am going crazy! I was on sdn on the UWSOM thread last year and got worn out from all the waiting and obsessing so I was absent this year, but I want to extend my congratulations to all my future classmates - GirlinGreen, Rural Dr - and all those who will be joining us in Seattle. Way to go!

Has anyone else on here from Alaska been accepted?

I got an interview!!!! Don't know when yet, but I am so excited (and scared to death). I know how it feels to read the "dont lose hope" posts from the other end, but I really mean it! Dont lose hope like I pretty much had. I was complete in early october and have been waiting all this time, and if I hadn't called I would have been waiting another week for the email

First off, CONGRATULATIONS!! Second, when you called who did you talk to? I called today, but got transferred to someone's voicemail. I left a message, but if UWSOM is like some other schools I've applied to, they aren't the best at returning calls.

I'm not sure if you've interviewed yet or not, but I'm waiting on a pre-interview decision. When I called today, the Office of Admissions told me that decisions will be made by the end of next Friday. I don't know if this also applies to those who have interviewed, but for those who are still waiting pre-interview, a decision will be made in the next couple of week. Here's hoping for the best. Congrats to all who have been accepted/invited for interview!

I almost always have talked to Stella but was getting tired of her typical responses so I just didn't ask for her this time. Dont' get me wrong, she is super nice, but I just wanted a fresh response. Anyway, I have no idea who I spoke with, but I love them🙂

I have been complete since last month, and somehow deleted the email that had the status page link. If there is someone on here who could post the link I would be grateful! The waiting is tough, but I have two interviews scheduled elsewhere so far, although UW is definitely my first choice.

I'm sure it's been talked about before, and I apologize for being repetitive, but does UWSOM look at LOIs? And if so, what do you write in an LOI? I've never written one before, and this would definitely be the school I would write one for....I'm from WA, but have been gone due to school/volunteer projects, and I would LOVE to go back....UWSOM is absolutely my number one choice for many reasons, and i would be heartbroken if I didn't even get an interview. :cry: any tips or comments would be greatly appreciated.
 
Well, I called today, and it's a rejection for me. I'm bummed, but it's not unexpected, and I'm just glad the suspense is over. Good luck to everyone still in the game!
 
It seems everyone's getting a "consideration" email... I haven't got one.

Sigh... Oh well, bye UW.

Have you tried calling again? They will give you an update over the phone and then you can ask them about LOI's. I asked and they said one pre-interview is ok as long as you have something significant to say. I can't recall where/how to send them tho. Good luck, I would def call!~

Thanks for the help, I'm going to try to be a little bit more patient. It's really hard though! They actually called me back yesterday, and I had forgotten I left a message a few days before, and I almost piddled myself when I saw a 206 area code :laugh: And, I had totally forgotten to ask about the LOI, but I'm going to wait another week I think before I call again, I feel bad "bugging" them.

When was your interview? Maybe they haven't had an ExCom meeting yet. You could also give them a call. I know I certainly wouldn't be able to wait
