I just got the Canby Robinson scholarship. I found out this morning. So when I looked up the scholarship online, I found some descriptions of it being tuition + stipend and others saying just tuition. Anybody know which it is?

I have no idea but just wanted to say congratulations! That is quite amazing 😀 😀

Hey - there seems to be some contradicting info on here regarding the true nature of Vanderbilt's grading system. Can any 1st years verify the correct info?

On the website PDF, it says all vandy classes except electives are H/HP/P/F. This also is in accord with what the AAMC has on their wesbite. Someone previosuly posted that it is only H/P/F or P/F or something like that..can anyone confirm one way or the other?

Thanks!

Looks like they may be offering a scholarship each week. My friend found out the Sunday before you did.

That's cool! Did your friend get the same scholarship? Vandy's website shows a number of different "Honor Scholarships"

First year all classes are P/F. Second year H/P/F. Third/fourth year are H/HP/P/F. Electives and Emphasis are just P/F as far as I know.

i just got an interview to vanderbilt! so very excited, i added the school on the last day. I have a question, how fill is the class right now? Thanks!

Also, did anyone submit more than 3 letters of rec (for those who don't have committees)? Thanks!

I submitted 4 as a packet

Anyone have any suggestions as to how to get from a hotel to the school? Specifically the GuestHouse Inn & Suites Vanderbilt located on 1909 Hayes Street.

I drove myself, but if you don't have a car maybe the hotel has a shuttle? Or there's allways public transportation.

I used the Metro Livery Premium Sedan Service:

(615) 360-2929
(866) 748-2227

I stayed at the Comfort Inn, and they called this "cab" service. It was about 7 bucks for me and the driver was really funny!
Good luck at your interview!:luck:

The Guesthouse Inn has their own shuttle bus leaving to Vanderbilt medical school every thirty minutes or so.
Good luck on your interview!

I also submitted more than 3 in a packet, they seemed to be okay with that. Good luck!

Thanks for all the replies. How many did you submit exactly? Sorry to inquire, I want to submit 6 but I think I should only submit 5.

I'm not sure what Vanderbilt's policy is, but at some schools that set a limit, the limit does not apply when your letters are sent in together as a packet

I believe that's exactly the way Vandy does it. When I called to ask if I could send more than 3, I told them they were arriving as a packet and they said that it was fine.

Does anyone know if there's going to be another batch of decisions before the holidays?

I don't know, but if you e-mail the office, they might tell you. I had asked them this before the last batch of decisions came out, and they told me that it would be "next week" and sure enough it was.

does vanderbilt encourage you to send updates/additional letters after you have interviewed?

I was wondering that myself. Also, does anybody know if Vandy accepts people earlier than their 6-8 week post interview policy. Do they save rejections and waitlists for 6-8 weeks later, and accept people before that time, or does everyone wait 6-8 weeks. I interviewed 11/24, and want to know what to expect in the next month... I LOVE VANDY!

I received my acceptance about 4-5 weeks post-interview, but that might be slightly circumstantial, given that I was among the second batch of acceptances, and they may be a bit more backed-up at this point. I don't think they save rejections/waitlists...I think they send all decisions out after they decide on your file, regardless of the decision. They also only send letters in specific batches.

"Will Vanderbilt be sending out more invitations to join the class before the holidays?" "Hopefully, we will"

I hope it's some waitlisted.
This is what she said a few months ago, "We send out invitations to join the class and wait list letters. It is true that every time we invite we look at the wait list also."

Congrats to everybody who's been accepted! Please post all your acceptances on the acceptances threads so people can get a sense of the timeline. It's super helpful for this year and next year's applicants!

Thanks!

any early nov. interviewers still anxiously awaiting a decision?

Holy Jesus in Heaven, Dean's full tuition scholarship. I cried, I screamed, I terrified everyone around me, I had to sit down to breathe so I didn't have a stroke.

This basically qualifies as the best day, well, ever.

Yeah, there couldn't be a better gift. You basically got a quarter of a million dollars!!!

Haha I know. I told the attending here at the clinic and she was like "you just got a half a million dollars of debt off your shoulders. You won the lottery! I've never met a lottery winner before!!!"

Hey congrats!!

I got in on 10/15 and got the scholarship call the day before yesterday, so I guess a couple of months? Although I don't know that you should consider the 10/15 acceptance crowd as a good indication of when you'd be hearing about it, since I'm sure they waited a while before meeting up about scholarships, and now they probably discuss that more often. :luck:!

Also got the call last night (wasn't carrying my cell, so it went to voicemail). I interviewed the second week of Nov. 😀 👍

Has anybody tried calling them first before they contact you?
I interviewed in mid-November.

just got my waitlist letter 🙁
knew it was coming, but hoped that it wouldn't

So turn around time for acceptances seems like 6 weeks... right?

I think people were hearing at ~4 weeks until thanksgiving and now the holidays got in the way.

Does anyone have the link to this secondary? I managed to lose it somehow.
