So based on the thread thus far, I'm thinking that the adcom meets the second and fourth Wednesday of the month? Any thoughts on that? I'm trying to figure out when I might get a decision.
 
Is it just me or did all the students seem like they were only at this school because it's the only one they got into?

Where is the elephant in the room here? This school seemed great to me, but the interviewers openly were negative to current students and administration, and the students seemed blase at best. I didn't meet a single student who said he/she chose this school over another one.

What's so bad about WFU?

I didn't get that impression at all from anyone! Many people turned down other schools even though they were cheaper so they could go to WFU. The applicants I interviewed with were SO BORING! No one wanted to talk.
 
My experience was the exact opposite as well. Many students chose Wake over other schools. I found the school and hospital to be great. The students were friendly and excited about their school.... Of course it was earlier in the semester... Maybe they were burned out....?

Well all I know is that there were about 5 or 6 students gathered in a circle talking to interviewers. Somebody asked the question, was this your first choice school? And it came out that nobody got into any other schools. The person who gave the tour was the same way (although she said she only applied to NC schools).

Is it just the cost? I loved the hospital.

Strange the people I know picked wake over other schools, including state schools.
 
If you can't rent a car, here are some tips for traveling:

1. Use the PART shuttle which goes from the Greensboro aiport to downtown winston-salem for only $2. They go every hour on the hour from the airport.
2. Stay somewhere really close to downtown or the hospital (5 minutes from each other). This way you won't have to spend too much on cabs to get to and from the school.
3. In total, my traveling costs (without airfare) was around $50. Not bad. I think that's cheaper than renting.

Also, the interview is really laid back and since they are short (3 total, 15 minutes each), there really isn't any time for hard questions.
 
They said we would for sure know by the 12th, but judging from previous posts they normally have gotten back to people by the Friday or Monday following their meeting, so hopefully we will know soon.
 
Does Wake ever throw away applications by any chance?

How long can they hold on to my secondary without making a decision (they've had it since the first week in August)?

What is going on here?

Yeah, me either. Sounds like it could be as long as March based on the status page.
 
i was just told when i emailed them that i was put into an interviewing pool but not the one they are pulling from right now and that this may or may not change given the competitiveness of this pool. They said I should call back the beginning of next year. I guess this will be an ultimate rejection?

Ah interesting. Maybe I should call and find out. On the other hand, maybe I don't want to call and find out 😉
 
damn. I really want to interview here...but have only been complete for a couple weeks. What do you guys think? another 4-5 weeks if they want to interview me?

Well, I've been complete for the last 3 months. No word either way. But other people have heard back much more quickly.
 
If I were you guys I would definitely call. I had the complete/reviewed status for about a week. When I made contact for a totally different reason they offered an interview. I have also read a couple posts on here of people who have waited over a month for an interview invite.
 
I was complete for nearly two months, called, and was offered an interview. Calling doesn't always mean bad news!
 
I really liked this school. Everyone there was so nice, and the 4th years we ate with were very friendly and informative...
 
Anyone get good news? I got waitlisted, does anyone know exactly how many people get put on the waitlist? I know they said that 30-50% of the incoming class comes from the waitlist, but that doesn't really mean anything if everyone who doesn't get in gets put on the waitlist.
 
I'm an NC applicant curious about what the school "guns" for. No one can seem to pinpoint anything. Judging on the numbers they only take about 40-45 in-state per year. Thats less than half. So, i'll let the forum take it from there.
 
I wonder if there's any way to find out if you're in before the release date...

State of Residence doesnt really matter, bc they are a private school and said they dont care where you are from as long as you fit in well....otherwise I guess they are looking for what every other school is looking for..>Good numbers, ecs, experiences, interviews, essays, and a sincere interest in the school.
 
Maybe I'll call tomorrow and find out what's up.
 
I saw your post and called today to check on my status as well -- and was also offered an interview! (although now I am just waiting for the email confirmation) I am so glad I called, thanks for the heads up...I am going later this month (they had an open spot due to a cancellation), but it looks like most of their open interview dates are now in January.

Oh and I was complete on 9/12.

She mentioned something about e-mail on the phone...but she also said "packet" (which to me implies "not e-mail").

Bottom line: I have no idea.
 
interview packet???

Don't know anything about this, I interview a week from friday (11/21) and I recieved/confirmed my invite on 10/10.

What's this packet? How far in advance does it usually arrive?

Just called, there is no snail mail packet, just the link in an email to the interview day information/schedule, as well as the conformation email.

Really looking forward to my interview day!! 👍

Does anybody know how likely receiving some amount of financial aid is at Wake? The price tag is the only pseudo-negative aspect of this school for me.

So has anyone that has interviewed or been invited originally received a message similar to this:

Your application is complete with us and has been placed in an interview pool. It is, however, not the pool from which we are currently inviting. Your status could change but maybe not. You may check back with us after the first of the year to see if there's been a change.

I'm just wondering if I should hold out any hope or not...
 
Got my hopes and called but no luck...still under review.

Though it was a little more helpful than some schools, I guess I can at least take solace in that it wasn't an outright rejection. If anything it seems similar to MCW's "small pool" placement.
