Got both CWRU and CCLCM invites tonight by e-mail. Very excited!

booo put on hold. anyone know if this is pretty much a death sentence from case or do i actually have a chance at an interview?

Awesome, sounds like I'm on the right track then. I wonder how many other people wrote about assimilation...resistance is futile..

I wrote about my immigrant experiences as well, detailing the challenges they presented and how I've handled them and what I've learned from them. GL to the both of us!

Looks like a fellow gator! Damn your MCAT score...looks like I won't get an interview from Case this year either!

Well that sure isn't necessarily true. First, as someone mentioned above, don't wait like a month before sending in your secondary. I did that last year(more like a month and half) and I think that hurt me. Second, I had absolutely no activities listed on the AMCAS app as I only had volunteering at Shands on there. I also started thinking about applications way too late(~May), didn't do nearly enough research, thought med schools only care about clinical and research exp, so I didn't list my other activities either. That REALLY hurt, as every adcom I've asked for a review for has told me so(including Case).

Both of you have high 30s-low 40s on the MCAT! It's freaking way too good to be true!

Good luck!

And both of us are reapplicants from the University of Florida as well.... Thanks for the good luck wish, we'll need it for sure!

GL to you too.

Haha, you know I think I had similar troubles. I can't believe you had to reapply too, though. You actually have a good GPA, I figured that was the final blow to my app. Good luck!

My GPA had a huuuuuge downward trend though. I basically aced my way through the first two years(4.0 and 3.97), which fortunately included all of the pre-reqs and some pretty tough courses. Then started getting some B's, and I think my senior(4th + 5th year) GPA was about a 2.5. I didn't really wanna talk about it last year, but this year I talked a bit about it on the PS and explored the topic more in my secondary to Case(the challenges essay). Hopefully it'll help!

What other activities did you put down other than clinical and research experience? i only put those ones.. :scared: not a single sports, music or hobby entry on my app

Unfortunately, I forgot to put the hobby stuff this time around as well, DOH! I did put down my other activities, like my involvement in the Chinese student association and my position as the Tutoring Coordinator for an Engineering Honor Society, both of which I neglected to add on my previous application.

ohoh the volunteering stuff.. yes yes..

thought you were talking about the sports, music, hobby stuff lol which I neglected as well

GL on your interview

Alright - last question here!

For the challenge essay - is it okay if I talk about more of like a life-experience (growing up in a multicultural household setting where I didn't exactly know where to fit in, or which cultural side to identify with?)

Because it's not a singular event, it's more of a circumstance that influenced how I grew up.

The registrar has solved that problem for me by declaring me Asian.:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Not sure anyone buys it, though...

Applicants in the past have received interviews after being put on hold initially. If they really weren't interested, they would have just rejected you outright like some others have. If you are truly interested in Case, you should send an update if you have one.

Rejected today. OOS, ~3.9, 34Q MCAT. I'd be more upset but I got my first invite from Ohio State today. Might have been my letters or my secondary essays. Oh well, good luck to everyone still in the run.

My application was completed 7/31 and I applied to both the UP and CCLCM programs. I'm beginning to get a little nervous since I haven't heard anything from Case yet and I wanted to know if Case is sending information if you have been put on hold for review or if they probably just haven't looked at my application yet.

I was put on hold last year. You can see it on your status page. If there is no change, then that means they haven't gotten to your file yet.

Good luck!

why won't anyone host me?! lol
i think i got the hint 🙁

Same here, I submitted to both 7/31 but was marked complete Monday 8/3. No news from anywhere yet and no status page updates. Don't be nervous, we got some more waiting to do. If one thing this process is teaching me slowly its patience :xf:

If you sent emails in the last 5 days or so to a first year, we were all ignoring you so we could study for our Block 1 exam.👍

Try it again,😀

hahaha, thanks for the info. I guess I will put myself out there one more time... I hope I don't get my heart broken again, lol 🙂

wait..if CCLCM doesnt use the page to communicate with applicants...which page does it do??

does CTSTP not refer to it??
All invites are sent by email.

I think the previous discussion implies CCLCM uses email. Someone who got both invites can enlighten us perhaps.
Exactly.

No, it means that no decision is being made on your app right now. You can still be invited later.

There's no quota on the number of UF people who can get invites.

You might want to call them to make sure that your app is complete. When I applied, they still hadn't downloaded my app materials two weeks after I submitted. After I called, they downloaded everything and I was complete.

why won't anyone host me?! lol
i think i got the hint 🙁
If you can't find a UP host, PM me and I will see if I can help you find a CCLCM host. No one is interviewing here in September, and we don't have any tests, so there shouldn't be any major conflicts. 🙂

my research pi has been very late with my lor and hopefully he will write it finally this week. would it be beneficial at all for me to send all 4 of my other letters just so I can have some kind of letters in or will my app not be complete until I have the research letter in? I applied to both case and cclcm and sent in my secondary at the end of july. I know they say if you did research they require a research letter so I'm just wondering if I can speed anything up.

interview invite!!!!!!!!!!!!! super excited, as this is one of my top choices

secondary received: 7/24; secondary submitted: 8/12; complete: 8/12; invite: 8/18; OOS; University Track only

gluck to yall that are still waiting :luck::luck:

Just got a case interview.

Sec. Submitted: 8/17
Complete: 8/18
Invite: 8/18

How so fast? automatic interviews? how many people do they interview?

^LOL, it's nice to see im not the only one frantically checking my inbox every twenty mins. I think we got the invite in the same batch 👍

Are you using interfolio? If he's going to write it this week anyway, I think you might as well just wait for it and send them all in together. Otherwise you'll have to pay twice, and I'm not sure if they'd mark your file complete anyway without the research letter. The best way to speed things up is to harrass him (nicely of course!) to get the letter done. Maybe you could try giving him a copy of your AMCAS and research essay so that he has a better idea of what kind of support you need from him.

It's not an automatic interview - the admissions staff is just reading a ton of applications right now. They receive about 5000 applications and interview around 900 each year. Good luck!

wow. thanks for the info. makes me feel that much better. sweeeet.

pre-interview hold at case

first "decision" of the year...anyone know how likely it is to get an interview after hold?

Congrats! wow, that is really fast! I submitted mine this morning at like 5AM. I hope I get an invitation!

Interview invite!!! I'm so excited...aaaahhhhh! 🙂 Does Case send a confirmation e-mail with your interview date? After I clicked on my date it said it was scheduled but now I'm not seeing it show up anywhere.

Also, I'll be traveling with my sig other (he's moving with me should I be so fortunate to get accepted to med school so I want him to be able to check out any city that could possibly be our future home), so staying at a hotel. I was wondering if there was any way to meet some current students and talk about student life, etc. since I can't really take advantage of student hosting (without making my poor host feel really awkward 😳).

Congrats to those of you who received interviews!

Perhaps someone could help clarify this but I have a question about the admissions process at Case in general. I know it was said elsewhere on the thread that Case does not review apps in a strictly chronological order.
I was wondering, when an admissions officer finishes reviewing your app are they required to issue a decision (hold, interview, reject) right then? And so if we haven't heard back then that simply means our app hasn't been reviewed?

Ya usually early in the season, not hearing back is just behind getting an invite and better than rejection or on hold

Yeah, with all this recent activity, I may call soon. I've heard nothing. I was complete at CCLCM and UP on 7/20.

I was complete at CCLCM and the UP on 7/31 I also haven't heard anything....

maybe we all are in one pile for a single reviewer who is a little slower than the others...

Don't call. All of us who applied to both programs are in the same boat. CCLCM review is what is holding things up.

Yeah, I'm not really one to call anyway. I have seen a few people get invites to CCLCM/UP in the last couple days.

I've called a couple schools to clarify things or tell them about an error, but I don't think I'll call these guys. They seem to be on top of the game. If one reviewer is slowing them down, then our apps will eventually get through the pipeline.

Yeah I'm in the same boat applying to both programs. I'm starting to regret the decision to apply to CCLCM. I decided to after reading these forums and hearing people say it was pointless not to and figured especially since I would be writing the research essay anyway, it wasn't too much extra effort. But I don't see myself getting into it (probably not even an interview) and now it's just delaying the rest of my application. Oh well..

That's actually not true. I got an interview invite to the UP program but haven't heard from the college program yet.

I'd much rather go to CCLCM than UP, but it is much more competitive, so honestly, I'd take either.

Maybe they forgot to coordinate? Unless the CCLCM just didn't want you?

Hey guys,

Under the 'Additional Documents' I see a 'Visitors Guide' but no Student Host list. I just scheduled my interview and I'm interested in staying with a student host. Any idea why the list isn't up?

Thanks!

You don't love us?!
I'm just partial to CCLCM b/c of the research focus. Case is an all around great school though! I just think I fit in the CCLCM a little better.

As others have said, don't call. When any decision is made on your applicaiton, the iApply system is updated. Calling won't get you any more information than you've already got, and it's not good to become known as contacting the office more frequently than is needed. They probably wouldn't remember who you are at all, but why tempt it?
