I hope so too! I like fluffy rabbits and I'm assuming you do too. :luck: By the way, if you google "fluffy rabbit," a lot of the images on the first page are of EXTREMELY fluffy rabbits. To the point of not-cuteness.

We have an April 15 deadline instead of May 15, so I would assume there's more waitlist movement after April 15.

If you come to Cleveland you can meet my roommate: Coa-Co The Bunny.

So.....this secret society facebook group that no one can find or knows that they are members of...am I a member of it too? Or does it involve me actively joining and them promptly forgetting that I have joined?! 🙁

Vc777, i'm fairly sure you are not yet a member, as I just created it this afternoon, haha, but the group is searchable (group name is CCLCM Class of 2015). Just request to join the group and I'll add you in : )

hahah...I was being facetious..a group sooooo secretive that you don't even know when you're a member! Thanks...that was my next question...

joining now (I have the fluffy bunny avatar 😛)

So what is the feasibility of having a VERY part-time job (3-5 hours a week) in the evenings while attending the UP? I was just offered one by surprise and was curious about taking it. Having money would be nice.

Very feasible. I taught MCAT classes during my 1st two years and that was a greater than 3-5 hr/week commitment and I had no issues whatsoever.

sweet! I'm certified to teach MCAT for Princeton Review, and I'd love to keep doing it. I'm sure it helps to have some extra cash.

To echo what iceman said, I have a couple of classmates who do this.👍

How about for the College program?

Also, a bump so that I don't have to go to the 2nd page to find the Case thread while procrastinating.

vc7777...your bunny looks GINORMOUS. 😱

If I remember correctly, the accounts were that it is, in fact, a ginormous bunny.

I lent my Case interview day materials to a friend who was interviewing here and I got them back the other day before a class. I spent the whole class in the back row reading them and getting excited about all things Case!!

Nice! I also did that, minus the lending.👍

how much is that 1bdrm apt by the way? (I'd move in July 1st though, not end of May) it'd be interesting to live near the Great CCLCMer and have NOT-EGGPLANT potlucks.
It will run around $725 including water and trash. Electric is $27 per month flat rate, and gas is $4 per month flat rate. If you do move in there, we should share wifi. 😀

just have my plate busy reviewing a paper--I'm about to be published!
Awesome, congrats!

CCLCMer, would you happen to know how many people on the waitlist received the second look invite? Just wondering how low I might be on the waitlist, if waitlisted...
No, sorry. The waitlist isn't ranked anyway. Basically Dean Franco pulls people off as people who are already accepted drop.

Again, for those of you who are waitlisted, if CCLCM is your first choice, you should send a letter of intent to Dean Franco, stating that you will attend CCLCM and drop all other acceptances if you are accepted here.

Also, how feasible is it not to have a car?
Very feasible first and second years. Not realistic in most cases for third year, although a few people have done it.

For CCLCM, you would need to let the school know ASAP so that they assigned your longitudinal clinic on main campus during first and second years. However, the school recommends that you have a car for all five years, and most people do.

Hey CCLCMer, any idea if all the most recent letters went out yet?
No. I'm out of town this whole week on vacation, so I can't stalk the admissions office for you guys this time. 😛

thanks for all your help. One more question, is there parking at the hospital/medical school? If so, how much does it cost? I am trying to figure out if it's worth it to live somewhere further off but with cheaper rent + driving cost, or living somewhere within walking distance but more expensive.
Parking at Case is expensive and a lot of people try not to do it, or they park farther away on the street and walk. Parking at CCF is free for CCLCM students and UP students who are rotating there.

Well, I hope Dean Franco lets me join! :luck: Someone was taken off the waitlist the other day, but I presume most of the movement is coming only after May. Does CCLCM also have the May 1st date like the UP since it also starts pretty early?
Our date is April 15, not May 1. However, some of the accepted people have gotten extensions so that they can attend second looks at other schools. Also, the school will contact everyone it hasn't heard from by the traffic date. For these reasons, it is unlikely that the waitlist will move much before the end of May (i.e., after May 15).

I wonder when CCLCMer will join us.
Well, considering no one invited me to join until just now, I guess I'll join now. 😛

Anyone else on their spring break and bored like me?
I am on spring break, but not bored. It's just that some of you guys are PMing me. :meanie:

May1? So does that mean there might be superquick movement between May 1 and May 15? That'd rock! 14 days between then and the 15th and having to tell my other school...hopeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeefull
Again, probably not. See above.

Soooo glad I don't have to walk home outside in this today. The snow is starting to stick to the grass. It was 50° this morning.

I love splurshy snow! It's so fun ^_^

Okay, so I am dying to know - has anyone from UP been invited to second look who was NOT already accepted?
Nobody yet, right?

*emote hopeful shining eyes*

It was my understanding that that does not occur.

As for the snow, I was getting so used to:
a) it being 50º outside
b) being able to skate to school
c) seeing the sun
d) all of the above.

Yeah, I get that alot. 😀

Well, she is a large breed...but not the largest breed: The Flemish Giants.

Like dogs, the larger the breed, the more mellow they generally are. My little rabbit, Chloe, is a spaz and bites a lot (she is not invited to move in with me in Cleveland). I want one of these Flemish Giants soooooo bad...I just wished someone bred a lop-eared Flemish...I'd buy one right now!

If that were true, I wouldn't be scared of most large dogs. Especially German shepherds...one almost bit me when I was 10. I was minding my business scootering around (I was THAT cool) the neighborhood and IT CAME OUT OF NOWHERE.

Ironic because when I was 3, my grandparents had a German shepherd and not knowing any better, the dog licked me...and I licked him back. Says my mom.

Sorry! Hence the qualifier "Generally". There can be some very cranky large rabbits too. But Coa-Co (why the first "Coa" is different the second, you will have to ask my daughter...) is mellow...my kids have used her as a pillow in the past. Plus, rabbits tend to be tolerated better by people with pet allergies (not that I have any).

Yeah, when I was 4 I was attacked by a German shepherd, left me with many stitches and scars.

Question to the UP/CP people: how do you like the University Circle area? Is there enough to do? Does it feel safe? Does it have that pseudo-urban feel that other universities (like Vanderbilt and U of Pittsburgh) have? It was raining on my interview day so I can't remember what the surrounding area looked like.

And the medical school is connected to the rest of the university, right?

I like the University Circle area. For the most part, it's quiet, with a few fast-food options within immediate walking distance (also, a starbucks if you're drug-dependent already. :d) and Little Italy within a slightly less immediate, but still less than half-mile distance. As to whether there's enough to do, that depends on what you like to do. I tend to be more of the hang-out-online/play-video-games/read-a-book/drive-to-a-metropark/ice-skate type, so I don't do a whole lot in this area per se.

As to pseudo-urbanness, uh... I've been to both of the campuses you're talking about. I guess they're similar? We also don't have Pittsburgh's hills, that's for sure. Perhaps a phototour would be helpful. If you want, I could go neighborhood-walking with a camera on, say, Sunday.

Sounds good! I'm more of a chill person myself, so if it's a quiet area I would feel at home. And yes, I'm completely drug-dependent!

A phototour would be awesome! 🙂

Oh, I forgot to mention that we're on the southeast corner of campus. To the north, you'll find business, law, and undergrads. To the west, engineers, godknowswhat, the gym, and more undergrads. Grads outnumber undergrads here with a ratio (I'm told) around 60-40.

Maybe this has been addressed... and if so, my bad. Is there a numbered waitlist or just a waitlist pool? When does this waitlist come out (or has it already)? Does the iApply status change when the waitlist is out?

Thanks much!

(I'm applying for the four year M.D. track, not the CCLM)

Call me crazy, but I'm considering buying a condo in the Cleveland heights / shaker heights area. I have a bit of a lump-sum in my savings ($25k), and it seems like theres actually a few decent looking condo options in the area for that price, 1-2 bedrooms. When I add in property taxes (assume 1K/year) and maintenance fees ($125 month), the monthly costs would average at ~ $650-$750, which is about the same as renting, but I would have some property at the end of my 4 years (the value of which is certainly debatable).

I'll be contacting some real estate agents and maybe having a look during an extended second look weekend. What do you guys think about this? Too much of a headache? Should I just rent?

I'd appreciate it if older applicants / students could chime in, I'm rather unexperienced in owning property.

So far they've sent us emails advising when there has been a status change (or for the continuation of the hold, it was right in the email). So I imagine it would be the same. I'm very curious too!

You're hanging on hoping too? Nice to meet you! ^_^ We've got a hold/waitlist support group brewing in the 2014 thread, welcome to join in! 😀

Got my official rejection in the mail today. Guess I'm reapplying in a year.

Good luck to all those still waiting!

Sounds like a pretty good idea, actually, although I've heard Cleveland's housing prices have got up a fair amount very recently. But whether it is a good time to invest in real estate is a discussion that can fill many, many books. 🙂

Man, your application looks pretty good too, I'm quite surprised things happened the way they did. You would think schools could look past that GPA with a 41 on the MCAT... good luck next year, though. :luck:

Good to hear I'm not the only one being dooped by Case. I go to KU and I've only been accepted there, so we might be classmates next year. Crazy.

Classmates either way!!! Nice to meet you 😀

I don't consider it duped really, I'm hanging onto whatever threads they leave for me. Being in at KU allows me to be able to chill and not be frantically writhing in anxiety. But I won't give up on my unrequited love affair with Case.

I'm really sorry to hear that, Anranius! I guess that's CCLCM, but still, your stats are amazing. Surprises me a lot that Case was your only interview.

After May 15, tho, I'd have to just cut the thread and move on, but until then I'm still lurking here, floating on my hopes hahaha

I wouldn't do that, either, actually. I remember being around in June and there still being waitlist movement.

Yea, especially when May 15th is only the start of big movements on waitlists. In fact, it usually starts a few days after 5/15.

Ummmm, that would be exciting, but how do I do that past May 15? I would have to withdraw from KU by May 15, and then risk it all on the hope that it moves far enough. I looooooooove Case, but I can't wait a whole year... T_T

You can hold no more than one acceptance and as many waitlists as you want after that date. Thus, that date is relevant only if you hold multiple acceptances, where you must release all but one. If KU is the only spot you currently hold, you can continue to hold it while waiting.

If you do get accepted at Case, KU will have their own waitlist to draw from when you withdraw.

You must hold only one acceptance by 5/15, but you can be on multiple waitlists. Thus, you can hold KU's acceptance and be on Case's waitlist at the same time, but you'll have to drop KU's acceptance ASAP when Case offers you.

:wow:I actually had no idea. LOL why did I not know this? Wow. Well, then, I am suddenly full of glee!!!:soexcited:

Just as a heads up for the rest of you waiting to hear back from CCLCM regarding their alternate list (their choice of words, not mine): I received an invitation to be on this list yesterday in the mail (I'm in the central midwest).

Well, all this self-induced 'angst' you have been having shows ALL of us where REALLY want to go! 😉 To think you were even considering that sort of leap shows who's #1 on YOUR list! Hey! [post=8384595]We've all been there![/post] I'm just glad your gleeful now!

Reeeejected from CCLCM. Got it in the mail either Friday or Saturday. It's been real. It's been fun. Good luck next year guys.
