That scares me so much. I'm so sorry GodisGood! 🙁

Also, please excuse my stupidity, but where exactly is the status section being updated? I just have the parts on the bottom which are checklists for being complete.

Correct me if I'm wrong. It's under that section, where it goes: University Track Correspondence

MSTP/CTSTP Correspondence

Additional Documents

All I've got under there is Visitor Information, and so I'm guessing my file hasn't been looked at yet?

Just got put on hold til march

38Q, 4.0, 2 years research, 2 years clinical work, leadership position

Complete 7/31, status updated 7/31, they didnt even emailme about it i checked today.

"The Admissions Committee has given your application to the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine a preliminary review and would like to hold it for future consideration for an interview. The Committee will revisit your application and notify you of a final decision no later than March 8, 2010. We thank you for your continued interest in our school."

ouch.

dang... on hold till march? so for the schools that do this pre-interview hold thing, they just review your app once and then decide "interview," "hold," or "reject"? and if they hold you until march or something crazy like that, doesn't it put you at a sever disadvantage? I mean, if you applied early in the cycle, you were probably being compared with really top applicants, whereas if you got your secondary in a month later (aug/sept), you'd be compared with less-competitive applicants and would probably have a higher chance of getting an interview.... I think someone actually mentioned this in a different thread, how applying early, but not being among the earliest, is the prime spot.

I have the same page. In one of the paragraphs it states: "Any time a decision is rendered on your University Track or MSTP/CTSTP application, you will receive an email from [email protected] directing you to check your status page for an update." So.. I guess we're still in the waiting phase :/

I don't think so. For schools that offer rolling admission, earlier is better. Being re-reviewed in March, at a time when there are fewer spots open because a good amount have already been offered, can put one at a disadvantage. But there are plenty of reasons why this can happen, and it definitely doesn't mean someone has zero chance. Far from it.

I don't think you can correlate time of application completion to the quality of the applicant. If anything, I would think it's the reverse of what you suggest. People who have less than perfect applications often hear the mantra "earlier is better" and thus know it's to their advantage to get their app in early. And those with "perfect" applications (no such thing, but for the purpose of discussion) think that they can wait a little bit because they have all the right pieces in place. Often times, the super-late applicants are those with stellar stats, who figure they might as well give it a try and see if they get any bites - and if not, they can always reapply early next year. But I admittedly have zero actual evidence to back that up, and it's purely anecdotal.

I do know from conversations with admissions people at different schools that earlier is better. There's no magical "one-to-two month later sweet spot." If you apply earlier, there are more interview spots still open and thus schools can be a little less stats selective.

Plenty of schools will "hold" the app but will continue to re-review over the year. I recall Loyola was like that. I can't speak to Case specifically, though.

anyone else having problems logging into status page?

I just tried with 2 different browsers and I cannot view it. Could it be because they are updating our status?

I doubt it cause that's never happened before...and its also way after work hours

It's jacked up. And I was totally wanting to check my status. Darn.

The status page errors happen from time to time. It's frustrating, of course, but it doesn't mean anything - positive or negative. 🙂

I had to convince myself of this for a few seconds, but then I came back to reality and just accepted that their system is down.

So I received their secondary two weeks ago today and was just gonna login, paste my essays, and submit. Now that the website is down, I can't do that. Am I going to be rejected now because I can't submit until their website is working and that probably won't be today? That would really suck.

Nope. Its recommended not a hard deadline. Just keep tabs on the site and turn it in as soon as it is functional.

If you really think it will look bad on your part to not have turned it in tonight then email them and let them know that you could not log on, they will take care of it tomorrow. Good Luck!

Thank you! Now I can stop freaking out 🙂

Just visited a friend in Cleveland today...got to see Cleveland clinic and University hospitals...I must say I was very impressed with CC, I really love their campus...and UH was good too, a lot of construction that looked veryyyy impressive...Would LOVE to get an interview here :xf:
Glad you liked it. Good luck, hope you get the interview.

ya man, I paid and submitted, and then apaprently they decided it on the same day.

Lol something absolutely crazy must have stood out,

Im just irked they didnt even bother to email me. March? really?

Anyone know if they review much earlier than that?
Yes, they do. March is the LATEST you'll be reviewed again, but you could be reviewed earlier.

There's no point in second-guessing the process like this. Good applicants apply throughout the app season, and like st0w said, it's best to apply early, especially at rolling schools. Even at nonrolling schools, a late applicant might find themselves SOL if there are no interview slots left. It happens.

If it makes you feel any better, I couldn't log into the elective catalog either. 🙄

No, no, don't panic. That deadline is not absolute. But you should try to get your app done as soon as you can, for the reasons we were talking about before (more interview slots open).

is anyone having trouble accessing the status page right now?

Network here's been spotty all afternoon, as far as I could tell.😳

Had no issues logging into it now, though.

Do you guys think with interviews already being handed out, if I submit this secondary within the next couple of days, it would still be relatively early?

Yes. Anything submitted before late August/early September is definitely still considered early. 👍

I can't access the IApply system and this was going to be 2 week date. Are they strict on this 2 week thing? Or is it just recommended?

Also, how did you manage to get a 150 x 150 pixel picture at 25kB, the smallest i could get was 27kB 😕😕😕

Thanks st0w : D

That's good to know. Unfortunately, I've gotten a little burnt out with the secondaries, but I hope to finish this one up soon. Case seems like an awesome school.

Please review the recent discussion in this thread. This has already been asked and answered in the past few hours.

Depends on the software you're using. If you're outputting a JPG, try lowering the quality just a bit and it should fit within the limit.

Can many publications help offset mediocre numbers (30, 3.4 grad sci GPA) in the UP? Seems as though everyone I've looked at from Case has pretty high stats.

just got an interview...anyone wonna split a hotel room with me (and grab a beer on the 14th with me?)

does everyone have a "Visitor's Guide" under the additional documents?

When were you complete? I would like to get an idea of where I stand.

so can someone please organize and post this year's essay promps for both Case normal program and CCLM program? thanks.

It's hard to say the effect everything will have together, but I will say that Case does look at everybody's entire application. They won't screen you out just because of numbers (well, I'm sure someone coming in with a 2.5 and a 20 wouldn't make the cut unless they had some EXTREME extenuating circumstances).

so if you applied to the cleavage clinic, you gotta wait to hear back?

hahahahahaahhaha I don't think I saw that option on the application.... Where did I go wrong?

Cool, thanks st0w, looking at profiles on SDN is probably a bit skewed too.

Extremely skewed. 🙂 SDN is a very self-selective population, and a lot of people who don't have extremely stellar stats don't talk up. Or they don't seek out a place like SDN.

Take everything you read on SDN with a grain of salt. Ok, with a mountain of salt, like highway maintenance teams have at the very start of the winter season.

Yes. I wouldn't wait until December to submit or anything, but a few more days will be fine.

One thing that is nice about Case is that they care a lot about fit. So I don't think your stats automatically would rule you out. Just FYI though, it's your undergrad GPA that matters, not your grad GPA. Unless you're talking about an SMP.

I've seen a lot of misspellings of my school's and hospital's names, but this is a new one.

I agree completely. SDN is like Lake Wobegon. Everyone is better than average.
