Question - Has anyone tried this?

You receive an interview invitation from a school that's across the country (or at least close to that distance) from where you live. You've also applied to other schools in the general area. So, you call the admissions offices of these other schools and say something to the effect of "I'll be interviewing at school X on date Y, and I don't know whether or not you're considering me for an interview, but IF you might be, it'd be great if I could do both interviews in one trip so that I wouldn't have to fly across the country multiple times." You get the idea...

I know someone who did this a couple years ago, and the school called him back like 45 minutes later and offered him an interview for the same week as the first school.

Obviously, Ohio is kind of near the middle of the country, so you wouldn't have as good of an argument, but it's still a long flight depending on where you live. Anyways, I have an interview at another Ohio school in October, and I'm wondering if it's worth a shot to call or send Case an email with this type of request. Risky....I know. Ideas?

If the other school is close enough that it's a reasonable request, then I would say go for it. As long as you're polite and courteous about it and don't make the request sound like you're expecting an interview, then it won't hurt you.

You could try. I asked Case for an interview when I was heading to Cincy for their interview, they rejected me like a week later. I think it really depends on whether they planned to interview in the first place.

Was complete 8/17, and Case is one of my top choice schools. Really want to hear something from them at some point....

Was complete around the same time and I'm in the same boat. The strong focus on integrating research with medicine is what really attracted me and that's why its one of my top choices. Also applied to CCLCM but I think my numbers are too low for that but can always hope! 😀

Otherwise congratulations and good luck to those that have already received invites!

I don't see why that would be risky as long as you're not a total jerk about it. I doubt they would change their decision just because you asked to coordinate your interviews.

I imagine if you let another school in that area know that you have been invited for an interview at another school, it is an indirect way of letting them know that you are a competitive enough applicant to garner interest from a rival school - this probably helps you. I think it's totally fine to let Case know this - if you can find something validating this on their website, that would be great. Some schools tell you that they will work with you to coordinate interviews to minimize travelling, but this is usually the NY schools I think.

Congrats! When were u complete? If u don't mind, ur stats pls, Thanks!

I never received a "complete" email. My letters were received my aamc August 24th, so my complete date was probably after that. I was pretty shocked when I received an interview invite Saturday, August 29th. That was pretty quick......

Stats:
Biomedical Engineering
GPA: 4.0 BCPM, 3.76 AO, 3.87 Total

Funny story...i actually never checked my mcat score...too scared.. ><"

Yea, same here. Besides, don't you kinda have to look at the MCAT score when you're filling out the primary?

Hey Guys

Sorry this may sound stupid. But I couldn't figure out how to check my cummulative GPA. anybody

Thanks in advance

Log in into your AMCAS application page, and on the homepage there should be a tab on the right that says "Print Application". Click on it and it'll load a pdf file, scroll down for your cGPA, sGPA, and their year-by-year breakdown.

I may be making things up here since it's been two years since I filled out my AMCAS, but doesn't it pull your scores in automatically when you fill it out? Seeing as you use the same ID number, I thought I remember it automatically populating my scores. So one could ostensibly not even look at it - although I don't know how in the world anybody could take that test and not want to know how they did. 😕

Once your AMCAS has been verified, it should appear on the PDF printout/proof that you can generate from the AAMC site.

i took it in jan..bombed it...retook it june 18th..submitted my primary early july..so by the time my score came out, everything was already submitted and automatically updated to the schools.

After you schedule an interview, do they send you an email with the confirmed date? Or do they just leave it at that and then we just show up on that day?

Also, do they host students?

Ah, I see, but you should face your fears! You've gotten some good interviews, so it can't be bad.

Yes, they sent me a confirmation email about a day later.

Sounds like these invites are for the UP. Anyone know of movement for the College Program, that's my baby...

We still have no admissions secretary and Dean Franco is now out of town. So I'm not sure when the next batch will go out, but I'll see if I can find out anything from Liz Myers for you guys. Here's a scary thought. The people interviewing for CCLCM this year are interviewing for the c/o 2015. 😱

For those of you who are underclassmen of either program, I highly recommend this SICU AI at CCF. I thought it would be just ok, but it has really been great. Whether you like surgery or medicine, you'll have patients who are complex and interesting. It can be a little sad sometimes too. (One of my patients died yesterday just hours after coming to the ICU.) There is some teaching, but it's really busy, so you don't spend most of your time sitting in a conference room. The rounds haven't been that bad, maybe 2-3 hours per day including teaching time. You can get away without doing much on the rotation if you want, but if you show interest and take voluntary call, they will let you try a lot of procedures. (It's hard to get procedures during the regular workweek because then you're competing with the interns.) I know this has nothing to do with applying to Case, but I just thought I'd throw it out there because you so often hear med students lamenting how bad this or that rotation is. 🙂

Rejected here from the UP, what the heck, I applied like last week and i just check the website today and it says unable to grant interview. They didn't even have time to look at my application which is kind of BS. And the letterhead when you click on the link is dated "September 8, 2009." They pretend like you would not notice it till then. My stats are not that bad... either

Not true. If you notice the speed with which people have been getting responses, both positive and negative, you'll realize that they are individually reviewing each application. Admissions is working very hard to give applications an initial review extremely quickly. Case doesn't do the "give us your secondary fees so we can reject you" that it seems like some schools do - I can assure you, every application is individually reviewed before a decision is rendered.

I'm sorry you were rejected, but good luck with the rest of your app! :luck:

And the letterhead when you click on the link is dated "September 8, 2009." They pretend like you would not notice it till then.

Could also just be an error. Those letters are all auto-generated programmatically, and it's possible that the code that obtains the date has a bug in it.

My stats are not that bad... either

Stats don't necessary guarantee or preempt an invite. Every school is different, and I'm sure with decent stats that you'll do well in the cycle. Good luck with the rest of your app!

Hey is anyone doing case oct 13 and toldeo on oct 15. Cedar Point is midway between the two but I won't go by myself (on the 14th). Any takers??? 😀

any one know when the interview ends for cwru

I never got an e-mail confirmation, but it is clearly confirmed on the iApply website. That is also where you find a list of student hosts. Huge list with e-mail addresses and relative locations to campus. Pretty cool. I'm staying with two 1st years and one 2nd year. They're going to cook me breakfast and drive me to my interview! Pumped about Case!!😀

Call the office to get the details.

As far as travel, everybody should check out STA Travel - they have huge student discounts, and are far cheaper than anything else you'll find (provided you're currently a full-time student). I use them for weekend travel back home.

alright i think ill book them separately, going to columbus, greyhound, returning directly from the cleve

Depends on when your faculty interview is. Your day should end between 2:30 and 3:30 PM.

Weird stuff, I completed about the same time as you did, got invited earlier, but my earliest date was 11/16! Do they offer dates based on how much they like you or do they simply offer all available dates and someone rescheduled his/her 9/15 one? I wish they would let me schedule it to early October so I can do both Case and OSU at the same time, anyone think they'd let me do that?

I'm sure someone just rescheduled their 9/15 interview, so that's why it opened up. I wouldn't read too much into it.👍

Someone probably rescheduled.👍

I was complete Aug 6, no news from case or cclcm =( what does that mean???

I'd contact whatever school you have the later interview at and ask to be bumped up earlier =D Once schools offer you an interview, they seem to be very accommodating, in my experience.

My status shows as Hold for interview. Any chance I might get interview later. Anyone in a similar situation? Any thoughts on my chances?

Could be worse - you could have been rejected. There are plenty of people who received a pre-interview hold and ended up being accepted post-interview, so definitely don't lose hope. If there was no chance of you getting an interview later, they would have rejected you outright. 👍
