I am so confused...I bought a case of blue yarn and a carton of eggs, but every time I slice the eggs they break. Does this mean its going to rain?

For a more serious question, if I have a bag will I be allowed to store it in the admissions office?
Rained today on my interview day, it was still awesome. Also, they do have a closet in the admissions office for everyone's luggage. The staff was the most accommodating and friendly staff I have yet to meet! Get ready for a heck of a day!

...and Myuu beat me to it. lol

Ok, so for another question that I am sure has probably already been asked, how would you recommend getting from the airport to a hotel near Case (other than a taxi)?

RTA!! $2.25, goes within two blocks of the admissions office. The line starts within the airport and no transfers necessary!

Take the RTA from the airport to... oh, hmm... hotel. I'm afraid you're going to have to be more specific than that... (though probably not in this very public forum). If your hotel is really close to the school, you could take the RTA to the university circle stop, but I don't think that'll help you in this case, actually...

Hmmm!

CCLCMer--any tips?

RTA Red line train ($2), you can board it at the airport and it will take you to University Circle stop where you can get on a free shuttle (running every 23 minutes). The shuttle (CirleLink) will take you to the the School of Medicine.

I feel so special getting all of these responses so quickly. Thank you all. I will plan on taking the RTA, and I will try to look up the route so I know where exactly to get on and off. If it is only 2 blocks to/from the school, then I can easily walk that distance. It will be a fun mini adventure like taking the 28X to Pitt!

Except without cardiac hill, lol

Case was pretty much awesome today. Everything was top-notch (aside from the rain...minor downside). Everyone should look forward to this one if it's coming up!

Two ways: take the red line down from the airport all the way to CWRU. You'll have stops at E105/Quincy which is a couple of blocks south of the Cleveland Clinic campus if you're at the InterContinental, or at University Circle (street: Cedar Ave.) which is a few blocks south of Euclid Ave and CWRU. Quincy exit is a little... rugged. University Circle, not so much

Second way: Red line to Tower city, exit to public square, take the 6 bus (now known as the HealthLine, I suppose -- those new-looking accordion buses) down Euclid Ave. It goes straight down Euclid Ave, past the Cleveland Clinic (two/three blocks north of Lerner/the Intercontinental) and straight into the heart of CWRU (one block north of the med school if you get off at Cornell Rd. Make sure you get off the bus before you go under the bridge.

The bus is probably the better option if you're carrying a lot of stuff, or if you just don't like walking, or if the weather is bad.

Rapid fare is $2.25 now. Probably the same for the bus, but you are allowed transfers. Exact change preferred

For the record: this thread moves insanely fast

Edit: Bus stop correction for CWRU. Mayfield Rd/Rt 322/Ford Rd. is one street farther down from Cornell Rd. on Euclid Ave.

And the "Best Transportation Post" award goes to...

And yeah, this thread is pedal to the metal! lol

Hold off on that award... Gave the wrong street to get off from the bus on Euclid for CWRU. Mayfield Rd/Rt 322/Ford Rd changed to Cornell Rd. Been away from Cleveland for only two months and I'm already starting to forget the lay of the city/campus 🙁 Previous post corrected.

What a great day. #1 choice for me. Bender and Rockaction, you guys are great.

Too bad I only saw Myuu kind of in passing (suddenly overheard a conversation about eggplants..)

And the train ride was essentially free for me (my ticket never got collected or scanned or anything)

Now I will go pass out. And hopefully not wake up until October 15.

Hmmm...I guess I missed that both Rockaction and Powerbutton were there yesterday! I guess I can assume who Rockaction is based on the "Something unique about you" question, but I'm less sure about Powerbutton...

hahaha so crazy how many SDNers were there in one day! Didn't meet anyone at any interviews until yesterday when there were 4, lol

I might start skiing with a helmet on.

What's on the 15th?

Oh wow. That's pretty quick. I thought it would be a couple months at least. Then again, I remember Myuu or one of the Case people mentioning that Case is fast.

Case has a great admissions office staff.Very organized and fast. Will definitely know my fate come Oct 15th.

 Man, I go into radio silence for a couple days because I'm....er...out of town...and I come back to two additional pages of The Cleveland Update (Moto:"No subject too tangential")...

Man, this thread is run like med school: Once you fall behind, you can never catch up!

Let me summarize the past ten or so minutes of bemused appreciation of other folks postings, (especially Myuu):

Well, on one hand, I am VERY disappointed I missed the SDN party. On the other hand, I'd like to believe I'm the only one interviewing the 12th and 13th...

Anybody joining me?

Awesome! I think you mentioned this before. My bad if I forgot...Are you at CCLCM or Case on that Monday?

Any other lurkers?

Hey! We interviewed the same day at IU too! Your profile doesn't say, but I don't think we interviewed the same day at OSU. Funny! Small world, huh? Well, you can car pool anytime with me and housemd?.... 🙂

I'll borrow my wife's minivan...

anybody been granted an interview or rejected that was on hold? Anybody know when they re-review the hold applications?

I was put on hold over a week ago as well. Heard nothing yet, obviously. I wish I knew the answer to your question as well =/

Oh wow. That's pretty quick. I thought it would be a couple months at least. Then again, I remember Myuu or one of the Case people mentioning that Case is fast.

Actually, Case usually has around a 2 week turnover for interviews. (They told me what date I would get a response during my interview day.) However, AMCAS doesn't let any school inform you before Oct 15th, so Case just sits on the decisions that they've made before that date until it's ok to release them.

For those of you coming to interview at Case between now and the end of January, you can stay at the Intercontinental (literally the nicest hotel in Cleveland) for 5000 Priority Club Points. Priority Club is the points system for Holiday Inn, Intercontinental, Crowne Plaza, etc. http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/pc...nts/us/hre/pointbreaks/us.html?rateCode=IVANI

You can buy 5000 PC points for about $67.50 so it's a pretty sweet deal. I've done this for other hotels and there really isn't a catch. They must have low occupancy rates or something because it's rare to get a Priority Club Pointbreak for an Intercontinental Hotel.

How do we know if we're on hold or not? I was complete on 8/18 for Case and CCLCM but haven't heard anything yet...

I just checked my status page and there is a hold status under the University Track. Does anyone know what this means?

I applied to both CCLM and the UP, but there is still no status update underneath the College Track heading.

Showa57 - Hopefully this will answer your question.

Check your status. If it changes to a hold, they won't send you an email about it.

Got it. Thanks for the replies. No change yet, so they must not have reviewed my file in the past 6 weeks...

Oh, ok. Let me get right on that.

Know that this is not an action that precludes your involvement.

  • Find three two-foot lengths of yarn in Case Blue, Case Grey, and Eggplant
  • Braid them together.
  • Purchase a medium- or large-girthed eggplant.
  • Slice.
  • Poke a hole in the center of each slice.
  • Thread your braided Caseplant yarn through the hole in each slice until there are enough slices on the string to ensure eggplant slice density of one quarter-inch slice per inch of string.
  • Wear for five days immediately preceding interview.
  • Take a picture of yourself wearing said Caseplant necklace.
  • Post this picture in this thread.
  • ???
  • Profit.
Classic. 👍

I've heard these necklaces can help ward off snow, too.

My advice:

For those arriving during the day (say, 7AM-7PM): go to the bottom floor of the airport (just follow the signs) and take the red line to the University Rapid station.
-If you're going to Case, you'll be right there at the edge of campus. Just walk up Murray Hill Road to Adelbert and the med school is there on your right. (It's the building with the clock on it. Just go up to the desk and ask the guard to let you in.)
-If you're going to CCF, you have two choices: you can walk (about 15 min, depending on how fast you walk), or you can take the #48 bus. If you walk, just stay straight on Carnegie and the med school will be on your left at Carnegie and 100th St, while the Intercontinental Hotel will be on your right at the same intersection. If you take the bus, it will let you off on the hospital side of campus. Go inside and ask for directions from one of the greeters in the red jackets. Seriously, you wouldn't be able to get where you're going anywhere around CCF by following my internet directions. :d

The cost for all trips on the RTA is now $2.25, and no change is given. So if you only have $3, I thank you in advance on behalf of the city of Cleveland for your donation to our fine public transit system, which, incidentally, was voted the best in North America in 2007. (Don't ask me by whom or best for what.)

If you're coming late (after 7 PM or so): take a shuttle from the airport to wherever you're going. Go down to the ground transportation and there will be an information desk with pamphlets so that you can get their numbers. One is called Ohio Connection and there is at least one other also. They cost about $35.

Beuller....Beuller...Beuller...

I'm there on 12th as well for CCLMC and 13th for Case 🙂

Hey, me too! 😀

If any of you are interested in getting some dinner after your interview on the 12th, you are hereby invited. I will be at your wrap up session, and we will figure out where to go. If no one cares, I am happy to make an executive decision. :meanie:

Do ppl ever get CCLCM interviews, but rejected from Case itself? Also, how many ppl does CCLCM interview??

That happens quite a bit, actually. As to your second question, I have no idea.

WOW. That's pretty amazing. I got used to the nebulous "in a few months."

When you guys say the E120 stop for the Red Lines is rugged, how rugged are we talking? I'm staying at Glidden House that looks like the nearest stop.

If you cross the street, you enter East Cleveland, where the windows are barred and the very first convenience store cashier you meet is behind some very thick glass. You give him/her money through a little depression in the counter.

I know because that's where I got off the rapid for my interview.:scared:

First question, yes. Second question, about 250.

Rugged as in, don't go there. Get off at University Rapid Station or take a shuttle from the airport. I'm not sure where the Glidden house is exactly, so I can't give you directions there from the University Rapid. Maybe iceman77_7 knows if Myuu doesn't.
