I have no idea why there is funding for a microscope. In the entire history of CCLCM, we have never used a microscope. I did see one once in some dusty path lab in a basement somewhere, but that's it.

Before you make any decisions about how much to take out, talk to Liz about the best way to handle things. I'm not sure how it works if you take out less money and then decide you need more, versus if you take out more and then decide you need less. But she would be able to tell you the best way to do it.

How much do YOU spend per month or year, if you don't mind me asking? (If you do, ignore that.) I mailed in my financial aid stuff today, but it did say to talk to Denise or Liz if I needed to adjust. If it gets adjusted, it would definitely go down, which I imagine is a lot easier than the other way around.

I do mind you asking, but I'll get over it. :meanie:

So seriously, I'll send you a PM. I hope you don't mind if I don't want to post my personal finances all over the internetz. 😳

Eh, well, there was the standard deal where you got an iPod Touch with the purchase of a MacBook, but that was about it. Things change from year to year, though, so who knows what's in store for you guys.

So you all did get to take advantage of that deal even when buying through the school? Hmm.. 🙂

you got Pitt and OSU to back you up, but this is disappointing if it means you won't come here instead 🙁

OSU's not giving me any money either. Haven't heard about Pitt yet, but I suspect if Case isn't giving me anything, Pitt's won't be.

Sorry. 🙁

As sad as we'd all be for you to not come here, you should save your money and go to OSU. Seriously, Latetotheparty, as awesome as Case is, it's not worth paying double the price when you don't have to.

I appreciate your honesty very much, CCLCMer. I think out of the three schools I'm deciding between, I'd be least happy at OSU, though, and my happiness is a very big factor in the school I pick. I can pay off loans, eventually, but I can't get 4 years of my life back.

Got my financial aid from Case today. And by that, I mean I got no financial aid from Case today. 🙁

😆 i couldn't have said it better myself...

in all honesty, sorry to hear about that. did you get pitt's financial aid yet?

What is it about OSU that you think would make you least happy there? Yes, you can pay off loans, but you work hard for your money, and it's no fun seeing all the rewards of that work going to Sallie Mae for a decade or two. Also, you are going to have a challenging four years no matter where you go, and you will not get that four years back regardless. I just don't understand that argument, I guess, but maybe it's because I don't understand why you think you'd be significantly less happy at OSU.

You trying to say we're not cooler than OSU or something?

Go where you'd be happiest.

You trying to say we're not cooler than OSU or something?
It's a given that we're cooler than OSU, no question about it. But it's also a given that we're a lot more expensive than OSU, and I don't think that's irrelevant for someone who is getting no grant aid. 🙁

Oh, certainly. If all factors are equal, follow the money. If they're not, consider carefully what matters to you most.👍

Is it true that Case loan does not accrue interest until after residency? thanks!

LTTP, as your acceptance twin (almost) I think you need to maybe swing by OSU this weekend and talk to somebody there? I suspect you may actually find the older nontrad group very supportive there too...

Hey... I'm gonna bump your thread...why settle for 3 Case Threads when you can have 4!

EDIT: 7 Case Threads! MUAHAHAHAHA!

Holy cow, I log in today and find that vc7777 has bumped every single Case thread that has been created, and then some more. What have you all been doing while I wasn't around?

Well, all of these threads need to be updated...like CCLCMer said (in which one? It's all a blur...) inquiring minds want to know the OPs' outcomes...

Should I make one too? :meanie: Technically, I am still debating between two schools, or if a waitlist school makes an offer, I'd debate between that and CCLCM.

Disregard the fact that I've turned in half the forms they've asked for.

See, vc7777, if you were a super elite gunner, you'd wait until we were on the last half of page 99 to bump all the Case-related threads.

(Top!)

OK....somebody soon needs to pick a fight with me in those threads that I bumped today...otherwise they will fall off the list...😀

Well, you gave them a courtesy bump because they were Case-affiliated. If they're not up to the challenge, they're not up to the challenge.

Ok. Here's one, even though it's not on one of the other threads. I resent the location you have displayed in your profile. Take a vacation here. Visiting California is like visiting Hawaii or NYC for the average American: something that should be done at least once in his/her lifetime.

I look forward to having you as my classmate. It amuses me sometimes, because we both act like we're in high school. Sometimes it's hard for me to forget that you're not even close to passing for a high schooler....while I still might.

Shhh... California sucks. The state's broke, education system sucks, they can't pass a budget, always a threat of a big earthquake. Why would anyone want to do residency there, let alone live there? Just avoid California as if your life depended on it.

I think someone asked this a little while ago but I don't think there was any response. Do students at Case get involved with global health either through summer programs or rotations abroad?

 Reminds me of the SpongeBob episode where everyone is trying to get Squidward to eat a crabbypatty...right. It's a very nice place. Been there. Nothing against it, and you know that! I put that up b/c yet another guy random in another case thread AGAIN asserted everyone wants to move there:

I mean, obviously UCI in a heartbeat. But this isnt true. Did california residency pretty much gaurantee acceptance into a CA medical school? Its not quite as drastic for residency, but still. Everyone wants to come and stay in CA. Theres no "in state" preference for residency...

:bang::smack:
"Lot's of people want to move there."
Sure...
"Many people like California"
Ok...
"Everybody wants to move here for Residency"
Uh....Not true, my friend!

I just don't think SOME people there get it. :meanie:

Well, I suppose I am, but I don't count. Gotta get those forms in!:scared:

I go back and forth...
multiquote = less posts running up to my imminent victory on this thread! 😉
Looks Like IHeart has thrown her hat in the ring too...
:meanie:

My excuse is that I just woke up?

Weather report: it appears to be a perfect day, no clouds in the sky, with a light wind. Temperature estimated to be ~65 degrees.

On the cutesy side, it's my professor's birthday. We're buying him cake and blowing up balloons with dirty inside jokes written on them and condoms and throwing them at him during class as a surprise, just for starters. (It's a long story, short version is this a course on human reproduction) Did I mention this is a 300 person class and it's a small group of us doing this? He's the only one I'm comfortable doing this to.

I hope CCLCM professors are fun like that, or would that be a demonstration of unprofessionalism? Will I have to write a self-reflective essay as punishment? 🙁

I would stop at the balloons.:d

Getting bored, obviously. 😛

Wha???? I like how this bumping spree of yours has become MY fault.

Should I make one too? :meanie: Technically, I am still debating between two schools, or if a waitlist school makes an offer, I'd debate between that and CCLCM.
Sorry, someone already beat you to making a Case versus UCI thread. One of these blasphemous threads was bad enough to tear a rent in the fabric of the School Discussions forum. Two of them will make the SDN universe implode.

I look forward to having you as my classmate. It amuses me sometimes, because we both act like we're in high school. Sometimes it's hard for me to forget that you're not even close to passing for a high schooler....while I still might.
I hear people say all the time about how med school is like being in high school again. They're wrong. It's like being in middle school again. :meanie:

I think someone asked this a little while ago but I don't think there was any response. Do students at Case get involved with global health either through summer programs or rotations abroad?
Yes, there are several options.

1) Case UP has a required public health type block at the start of their first year, so everyone gets at least that minimum exposure.

2) There is an MPH with an international health focus available, which some students take advantage of. If you decide to do an MPH, you will almost certainly need to take a fifth year.

3) You will have the summer after your first year off, and you could use that time to go abroad if you wanted. As far as I know, there is nothing sponsored by the school that is targeted specifically for rising second years, so this is something you would have to look into if you're interested.

4) You can do electives in Cleveland pertaining to global and public health issues, such as tropical medicine. This would probably be done at the end of your third year.

5) There are a variety of international rotations available, both through Case and through other institutions. Going abroad for two or four weeks to deliver medical care in another country is most commonly done during fourth year.

Um.... :whoa:

I would stop at the balloons.:d
Good call.

Nope he took it all in good fun. It was great. 😀 We also did it because the class is way too uptight and the professor told us to do something about it.
Good that you got it out of your system now. 😛

Wow...what did *I* miss this time?!
😱

Hmmm...the ambiguous punctuation and sentence structure leaves a lot to the imagination...so many permutations...so many wrong permutations

It pained me to do it but I just withdrew from CCLCM today. 🙁

I loved my experience here and all the people that I met but I just felt a little bit more at home at Penn. Hopefully a qualified SDNer will end up taking my spot. 👍

I wish everyone at CCLCM and Case the best of luck and hopefully our paths will cross again in the future.

hey does anyone know where to send updates for UP?

Did you get your answer? People are laying low today, I guess?

Side note: why is our thread rating down at 4 stars, people? Unacceptable. It better be at 5 stars before it closes. That is all I am saying. 😡

I... am not sure where they should be sent officially. I think people have been emailing Christian Essman and Dr. Mehta.

Congratulations, and good luck at Penn! What happened to everyone wanting to go to Ohio... 😀

Anyway, do rental apartments usually come unfurnished? If so, I should probably plan on coming a little earlier. I'm lazy... 🙁
