yes.

(and last year they pulled less than 20🙁....clearly i wasn't one of them.....in past years there has been significant waitlist movement however)

I was accepted at Creighton (yay!), but my fiance was waitlisted (boo!) Anybody think there's a chance that a letter explaining our situation would help his chances?

Congrats! I was really pulling for you since we were both waitlisted last year! Omaha year we come 😀

thanks! i remember stalking this thread and being excited when you got in (while also freaking out since i hadn't heard anything from them hah)....i can't wait to start and see you and everyone else in omaha this summer!!!

Still waiting for an interview invite 🙁 I was told I should have heard back the last week of January. Still have my fingers crossed!!!

Accepted! Interviewed 1/8.

So the interview is Friday, and I arrive Thursday. Fees paid, request form submitted, yet yot a peep from the hosting program. Can somebody who's already utilized this service reassure me that they'll be in contact before I frantically call the school Thursday afternoon? A little worried over here. 😕

That's a little worrying. I would call first thing tomorrow in case you have to make alternate plans.

And to Creighton: Can you please just give me my rejection already?? *sigh*

I was told that you wouldn't be contacted until the Tuesday or Wednesday before, and to not worry (I was indeed contacted the Tuesday before my Thursday arrival)....I would definitely not panic but if you haven't heard by Wednesday afternoon, I would give them a call....don't worry and good luck on your interview!

Wow so last minute. Since this is first hand info though, I'd do this instead. 🙂

Thanks for the replies all. This is my second go at it with Creighton. Waitlisted last year, worked on my weaknesses all summer. Hopefully they'll see that this time around.

it was mine as well, also ABRUniverse's from a few posts up.....i'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Has anyone from the Maryland/DC/Virginia area heard back from Creighton regarding an interview or even acceptance? I applied late but I have been complete since October and I haven't heard anything yet. I'm under the impression that they take very few students from this region.

If you got an interview, then what you have done to improve on last year will be an important part of your application. Best of luck and if you don't hear from your host by this afternoon, shoot an e-mail to the contact person (or let me know and I'll get you in touch with her).

I know it's tough to wait this long, but one thing you will realize is that Creighton students LOVE to be involved during the admissions process. Things like the hosting committee are what really endeared the school to a lot of us, so we enjoy giving back by hosting/giving tours/etc. Why am I saying this? For hosting committee, the e-mail looking for hosts does not go out until Mondays (2/10), so hosting assignments aren't usually finalized until Tuesday afternoon/night. We always have enough hosts, so if you signed up and paid, believe me, you will have a spot. I can only think of one or two times where there was a glitch, but we got those students a place to stay last minute, so no worries, you will be sleeping comfortably in the home of some student Thursday night. 😉

Trust me, we do not discriminate by region. Dr. Nipper has worked hard to increase Creighton's exposure out east, but it's been a slow process. We definitely have students from out east, but not nearly as many as the midwest/west coast, though it is not due to a lack of trying. It's been a very, very busy/competitive year, but hopefully you'll hear some good news before this cycle is over!

Anyone planning on going to check out Phoenix next week or in march? I am debating about shelling that much cash.. since I'll be coming in from the east coast.

Not unless there is some miracle that allows me to find a plane ticket for $200 or less (coming from the midwest).

Try priceline for your plane tickets. I used the "name your own price" option and got my ticket to Omaha from Helena, MT for $250. The crappy part is that you have to commit to buying the ticket if they can find one for your asking price.

Anyway...it's been 3 weeks since my interview & I'm going freaking nuts! I want to find out right now!!! 😱

Does Creighton do silent rejections?

I don't think so. I think people have already been rejected pre-interview. So, if you're interested, I would send an update, highlight all of your service work. Dr. Nipper told us that they will interview through the end of March. Creighton is interviewing Friday and Saturday this year. Hopefully, your application is still lying around someone's desk and your continued interested could spark their interest in you as an applicant. Just speculating though.

Just invited for an interview today. Totally caught me off guard.

I don't plan on attending the interview. I will decide for sure in the next day or two.

I sent in an update about a month ago highlighting my research this year. I haven't done much this year as far as volunteering and service work go. Would it be worth it to send an update that highlights stuff that I already wrote about in my amcas?

I am sorry, but I do not know how to advise on that. What I do know is that Creighton is big on service and medical volunteering. I have applied twice, and been interviewed twice. I have next to no research experience, short of a couple quarters of a basic undergrad research course. For my first time last year, I was waitlisted due to lack of non-medical volunteering. I worked on it all spring/summer/fall, and reapplied. Now, I have boo-coop hours in of each. Still waiting on a verdict; will not find out until March.

(this thread's is rather quiet...)

It is yet another Friday, and that means post-interview committee decision. If anybody has received any information today, could you please let me know what date you interviewed? I am just curious which week they are on. Thank you.

So I am another applicant who hasn't been rejected but also hasn't been invited for an interview either... I guess I'm confused-- aren't all the schools required to notify applicants of their final decision (accepted, waitlist, rejection) by March 30??? Or does this rule only apply to public schools? Maybe this is why I've had 4 public school interviews but haven't heard a peep from 4 of the private schools that I applied to??

I'm in the same boat -- haven't been rejected but haven't gotten an invite to interview either. But I did turn in my secondary really late. I called them last week and they said they're still inviting people for interviews.. just hold on and wait I guess... let me know if you hear anything soon!

This last Friday was the 4th since my interview & there's no word from Creighton. They said about 4wks...so should I expect news any time this week, or do they only contact people on Fridays? Has anyone who interviewed January 22nd or later heard news? Thanks in advance for any news...I'm stressing here!

I interviewed around then and have yet to hear anything.

So how many of you guys are actually Catholics?

I was not raised to be religous, so if pressed for a response, I would reply, "none of the above". However, this does not mean I am anti-religion. I believe all religions have merit. I went to a catholic undergraduate institution and like the environment; service, humanitarianism, etc.

Catholic here. Can't eat meat on Friday for 40 days now that lent started haha.

I just try to do fridays without meat during lent but forgot so far lol. Thought about giving up alcohol and failed. Switched to xbox :laugh:

Yeah I used to go to church a lot, but college has turned me into a Christmas/Easter Catholic sadly lol. I definitely agree with you though- catholic schools have great values and are usually very friendly environments.

I asked for a status up date and got this reply.

"Thank you for your continued interest in Creighton University. We are
in the process of completing our final interview review. We hope to
have interview decisions to applicants within the next two weeks. We
will notify you by email if you will or will not receive and interview."

At least they notify us either way.

at the interview the financial aid counselor specifically said that creighton doesn't need parental info for the fafsa right? i filed mine without their info and just wanted to clarify that while many schools need it creighton does not...is this correct?

thanks!

The 1/22 group was discussed last week, but due to the Phoenix open house taking place over the weekend, my guess is that things are running behind a bit. Good luck!

For those keeping track at home, 1/29 is up to bat this week, so given the delays with last week, I wouldn't expect decisions to be made known until later next week.

2/5 is on deck for next week.

I'm pretty sure that as a professional student, by default they don't care about your parents, or something along those lines. 😉

haha yea i figured as much, but all of those fafsa threads were freaking me out since everyone kept saying, "almost all schools require parental info to be considered for any type of aid/scholarships/etc"

thanks!

Just wondering if anyone has had an interview with Creighton's OTD program?!?
Thanks

Anyone heard about an interview lately?

Eh. Maybe a call later in the week is worthwhile.

Nope, interviewed 1/22. They said we'd hear back in 4 weeks, right?

after sending in our acceptance paperwork we pretty much should just be hanging out and waiting for financial aid stuff right? does anyone know if after we submit fafsa we have to fill out any more paperwork/do they have some additional financial aid application we must submit?

Has anyone else not heard anything at all since confirmation that their file was complete? I feel like it has been forever since I've applied, and I can only assume that interview season is more or less over. Anyone know anything with regards to Creighton's timeline?

Has anyone else received an email like this?

"The Committee on Admissions is in the process of making a final admissions decision on your file. Before making the decision the Committee requests that you submit an update that details all the community service and shadowing activities that you have completed."

MDME2010-

I've also not heard anything since my file was complete in October. It's been far too long. I think being in Maryland doesn't help my chances. I sent an update letter to the committee a couple months ago and have not heard anything about an interview. I would guess they are finishing up their interviews this month so chances don't seem too good.

I received an email saying they will decide interviews by next week, but we will hear from them either way.
