Can anyone tell me how they planned their trip? I'm from Toronto, so I'll either fly to Manchester or Logan (which one is better?)

I'll have to take some kind of transportation from the airport to Hanover...so what's that going to be?

I know from Logan I can take the Dartmouth Coach right??

Also, for people that interviewed there...where did you stay?? Is there anything nearby?

I agree with sr9 - from Toronto its easier to fly to Logan and take the Dartmouth Coach. Its ~$60 round trip and there is free wifi. Without a car, it would be tougher to stay at hotels since not many are on the bus lines, so just stay with a host if you can.

there's a greyhound (used to be vermont transit) from manchester but it's very infrequent (twice a day i think). the dartmouth coach from logan leaves every 2 hours. both buses drop you off right on campus in front of the hanover inn.

as far as where to stay, the hanover inn is on campus but pretty expensive. other hotels in the area are the marriot courtyard and another marriot, also more expensive than they're really worth. i would recommend staying with a student host.

Is there a list of student hosts? The email didn't have anything.

Also, any idea how many other interviewees are with you on interview day?

friends told me 20, but who knows!

You should have received a website and password to see the hosts. Check the attachments on the e-mail (if there were any). If you didn't get it, contact the admissions office and they'll get it to you.

No love from Dartmouth. Completed in September. I guess the game is almost over for me. But I still have hope:xf:

There is absolutely hope!
I was complete in mid-July and didn't get an interview invite until mid-November.

Was just accepted today 🙂

congrats!

when did you interview?

I hope good news is headed your way!

me too!

but my mail hasn't arrived in 3 days bc of a stupid snowstorm.

actually it's only like 22 inches but apparently it was enough to shut down postal service in virginia...

Maybe you guys can help me out.

I was completed very early at dartmouth and have yet to be rejected. I have visited Hanover on several occasions and love the area (I live in Northern MA and frequent NH to ski, hike, etc.). Although I have yet to visit DMS, it seems like a wonderful place to study and learn about medicine from a global perspective. I would love the chance to interview here and find more out about this school.

I finished college this semester and did well (4.0 average, took a few challenging courses like pathogenic microbiology and a human metabolism disease course). I also finished a thesis as part of the honors program at my school and continued to volunteer at a local school. Aside from these activities, I didn't do much else in the way of E.C. activities...honestly I spent a good deal of time with friends and really enjoyed my last semester of college.

What would be my best course of action to increase my likelihood of getting an interview? Should I send an update letter or pre-interview letter of interest after New Years? Should I send my final transcript to the admissions office? Please let me know what you guys/gals think is best.

Thank you and happy holidays! 🙂

Definitely send them an update letter, maybe a more formal version of what you wrote above? Anything new since you completed AMCAS (grades, volunteering, saving puppies and small children) and/or any significant activities that you'd like them to take note of, your interest in the school and ties to the region, etc. Might not help, but it won't hurt.

Is Dartmouth still sending interview invites? I haven't heard anything from them since September...

Does anyone which days of the week Dartmouth interviews? Is it only tue/thr?

hey guys, i interviewed back in september and still haven't heard anything. anybody else interview a long time ago and not hear anything?

When you buy Dartmouth Coach tickets..do you just simply buy them online..there's no date of travel or anything? You just buy..print out..and show up whenever you want? That's my understanding, some please confirm.

Thanks!

yup - there are no reserved seats

I'd loveeeee to go to school here. But, I am thinking that I probably don't have a shot since it's now 1/7.... 😕 Anyway, does anyone know if Dartmouth has issued any pre-interview rejections? Or, are we on a never ending wait to hear back that we were really rejected in September when we submitted our secondaries. 🙁 Any input would be appreciated.

They have indeed rejected some people (as from earlier posts in this forum)

Thanks! I guess I need to settle down and stop my nervous energy. :scared: typical pre-med. Good luck to all of you. Dartmouth is AWESOME!!!!

When did you apply? I'm waiting to hear back myself. I applied in mid-September.

Good luck! 🙂

same for me! Good luck to you, too!!! :xf::luck: I am praying to the Hanover gods that something works out here!!! 😀

hey guys, i interviewed back in september and still haven't heard anything. anybody else interview a long time ago and not hear anything?

I interviewed September 8th and have not heard anything yet. I am not surprised though considering Andy Welch said there is little activity before January. When should we expect a big wave of acceptances? January 15th or so?

Hang in there ScronCron, we're in the same boat it seems.

this wait though is very bizarre...im currently working in a lab here and i know 2 applicants who have already gotten acceptances.

this is how the guy explained it to us during our info session:

-everyone is graded on a 1000 point scale based on our whole application, including the interviews.

-acceptances go out to people at the very top of the scale and rejections go out to the people at the bottom. he said they reject more than they accept initially so it's actually better to not hear anything for a while.

-they gradually start accepting more people with middle-top scores and rejecting people with middle-bottom scores, so if you're right in the middle it'll probably take a while to hear back (he said usually in march they've gotten back to everyone and i think he said if they're still unsure about you there's some kind of waitlist-type list you'll go on)

-overall ~200 out of 600 get accepted

and that's all i know! hope that clarifies a little why some people hear back really quick and others have been waiting post-interview since sept

Jackson, you don't happen to have any idea how many interview invites they send out, do you?

I remember hearing close to 800 on my iview day,but my memory doesn't work that far back......

interviews are around 1000. maybe a tad more. but my memory sucks too so i might be way off lol

Should I consider myself rejected? I submitted my secondary in October and haven't heard a thing from Dartmouth.

They interview pretty late into the season. At least till end of March I think.

Just got an acceptance today, dated 1/8. Interviewed on 11/19, so I guess they finally rolled on down to my batting average. Good luck to those waiting, hopefully more are on their way out soon!

for those of you who are getting interviews and acceptances, how are your stats? I was complete mid september and havent heard anything and Im wondering if I should give up hope

I have also been complete since September and havent heard anything. I have mediocre stats (MCAT 33, GPA 3.6) and expected to wait sometime. Now with the explanation of their 1000 point system I understand.

Clearly it is not a bad thing to not hear for a long time (when considering your stats) so no one should be discouraged by the wait time! Just be positive and sweat it out. I hate this process so much and cant handle not having my next years all planned out and ready to go, but I guess we all just have to go with it.

Good luck everyone 👍

I think that the 1000 point scale is post-interview. For pre-interview, I remember the Dean saying that they had regional committees review applications, so basically a committee that specializes in a set of schools and is therefore familiar with the usual suspects as far as letters of rec, courses, activities, etc. But I don't know how the score all that into an interview order. Does anyone remember/know?

Regardless, waiting a long time for an interview doesn't seem like a bad thing here. I waited at least 4 months, then 2 more for an acceptance. :luck:

so - do you find out who your interviewers are before the interview here?

Yup! That info is in the folders they hand out to you with info about your interview day, financial aid and other info about Dartmouth. They also have several white binders on the tables that contain the resumes of all the interviewers so that you can look some stuff up about them if you wish 🙂

Cool, thanks.

I was getting pretty bummed I hadn't heard back from DMS yet, but I received an interview invitation today! I was complete in mid-to-late November.

:luck:

nice. how are we doing on interview days available still?

interview invite! I had almost given up hope because I submitted my secondary in mid-august and had not heard back from them for so long. I sent in a letter of intent and update letter about a week ago; maybe that helped?

The possible dates for me were 21st, Feb 2nd, and Feb 11. I'm on a rush to buy a plane ticket and dartmouth coach tickets before jan 21st.

Congrats! I see you went to Mac! My sister went there, when did you graduate? Is English your first language or second? You said you're international. If it's your second you did unbelievably well on the verbal parts of the MCAT! Holy crap! Anyways, I"M SO JEALOUS of you guys who just got interview invites! Maybe I'll write them a letter myself 😛
