Ugh. Dartmouth, so frustrating. Can't you at least tell me if I'm rejected yet?

1. This was one of the FIRST secondaries I did in late July, so they had everything right on time.

2. I TOLD them they were my top choice. No ambiguity about it. I want to go there first and said so.

3. No news at all 🙁

I am sorry that you guys haven't heard back yet but seriously though they have some sort of ranking/evaluation system and they really do keep you in the running until a rejection is sent out, or atleast thats what I inferred from my interview day and from last yr's thread. People have heard back pretty late after submitting early. I guess all you can do is wait and the bright side is that you both have some invites, so focus on the bright side of things for now =)

I am curious, why top choice? I liked the place a lot when I went there but I just want to know what it is that makes this to the top of your list.

I have several friends at DMS and know a few faculty members, believe it or not. Plus I kind of like the slow-rural-New England feel of it.

I guess you're right though...there's really no love lost. I have interviews from better schools at this point.

Better schools?

You are quickly becoming one of the most arrogant posters on this forum. You might want to give it a rest, especially since you claim to have friends and know a few DMS faculty members, have expressed your love for the place in your app, but are now trashing it...you are not as anonymous as you think, dude.

Whoa....hold your horses here. I only meant in terms of actual USNews rankings. Its still my top choice, even if I get in those schools (which I won't).

I didn't trash it at all.

So be honest with them when you get an interview and tell them "even though I have interviews at better schools, I really do want to come here."

I am sure they will appreciate it.

Stop being so judgemental. Its just my opinion, you don't need to go postal here. I probably won't even get an interview at Dartmouth, why does my opinion matter at all?

As you can see...I've gotten more than my fair share of rejections as well.

I don't think any of you guys meant anything negative, its just a little misinterpretation due to the nature of online forums such as these. Let's move past this. I hope both of you get invites here because it really is a good school with amazing people and great facilities. =)

Ehh, I find comments about "better schools" to be pretty obnoxious, particularly the metric of "higher ranking per USNEWs = better school."

God, just let it go. If I were so lucky as to get an interview there, I hope Dartmouth would give it to you. Obviously, you really want to go there.

I don't see fit to take people's opinions, and rip them to shreds because I disagree.

Peace out.

+1

just a third person's uninvited opinion.

So I submitted my secondary on 7/22...has anyone else been waiting this long to hear? Dartmouth is one of my top choices so I'm getting just a littttttle bit antsy.

uh has anyone had trouble getting through to schedule their interview? I've called a number of times, but not been able to get a hold of someone. If I left a message with the date I want to interview, do you think that would be enough?

No I think you should speak with the lady. She is really sweet and helpful!

wsup guys. so I might be mixed up here ... for those that interviewed - didnt Dr. Welch say that they dont send out acceptances until January? Looking at last years thread, some people found out in October. Anyone know? thanks

On my interview day, I think they mentioned they are rolling. First set of acceptance to top candidates go out in oct/nov. Most waitlists, rejections and acceptances post Jan. I am not sure of this information, so feel free to correct me!

I don't think Andy (for all those writing thank you cards, it's Mr. Welch, FYI) would have said that. I was accepted in November and I know that people were accepted earlier than that. Dartmouth is definitely rolling and the acceptances should start rolling out decently soon.

Ahoy folks -- are there any fellow interviewees for this Thursday who'd like to get dinner the night before (Wednesday)? I'm staying in a hotel, but I was spoiled by my previous experience at Michigan and I crave some sort of social interaction prior to the interview. PM me if interested!

This was the first secondary I did, and it's one of my top choices. Apparently no private school likes me.

Does Dartmouth send out rejections this early or will we be waiting for a few months before hearing back?

I think they're rolling -- they'll start letting folks know on the 15th, I imagine.

Website says "usually no earlier than January 1st", so it leaves the door open for the 15th, albeit only slightly.

Does anyone know from recent interview dates if they are going to 'roll' out decisions anytime soon?

Got an invite this morning for an interview in Nov/Dec. I also have one at U. Vermont so thought about pairing up these two since they're only 1.5 drive. My only concern is that it's in the middle of winter and I'm from Cali. I don't know how the road conditions are and I've never really driven in snow before. Is it bad in the winter?

There's definitely a possibility that the weather could be bad, but if you scheduled in Nov I'd say there's a pretty low chance there'd be a big storm or anything. Maybe schedule an extra day in between them just in case? congrats on the invite though!🙂

Congrats! Can I harass you and ask when you were complete?

Hey no problem. Dartmouth was I think the 3rd secondary I filled out. I think I was completed around July 20ish or somewhere between mid-late July, so it has actually been a while. I remember checking Dartmouth and waiting for a response when the first waves came out because there were people completed around my time that got interviews in late August/early September, so there is still hope haha.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am sincerely happy for you!
How did you find out about your invite? Did you see it on your status page or did they contact you via email?

For those that have interviewed, Dartmouth has started giving out final decisions. Good luck to all, it's a beautiful place.

You should be fine. You drive on I-89 to get from Dartmouth to UVM and they're pretty proficient at plowing roads up here (and that's only an issue if there's a storm the night before you have to drive there). We're not likely to have too much snow by then.

How do they give them out? Phone? Email? Snail Mail?

I've only heard amazing things about this school. I still haven't heard from them though, unfortunately... =[

I'm from California too and go to school in upstate New York (first winter driving experience). Unless it's snowing, winter driving really isn't too bad. Just slow it down a bit and you'll be fine.

Does anyone have else have an interview at Dartmouth on Thursday, Oct 29th? Seeing as Dartmouth does not, as far as I know, have student hosting, I am wondering if anyone is thinking of splitting a hotel?
