Does anyone have else have an interview at Dartmouth on Thursday, Oct 29th? Seeing as Dartmouth does not, as far as I know, have student hosting, I am wondering if anyone is thinking of splitting a hotel?

-Isaiah

They do have a student host program, the information of which will be in your 'Interview Confirmation' email from Whitney.

We have student hosting (I'm already hosting a handful this year). The admissions office should send you a website with the contact info of students willing to host. Ask them about it.

On average, I'm curious, how long do you give interviews/rejection-prior-to-interviews after you submit your secondary? This is also one of my top schools. I love the old-style campus from photos, I've got a few friends there, and in my opinion, it's the school that holds truest to the believe that "a school should not discriminate a student based on his/her ethnicity nor education background." They've got the widest diversity of students, and also the most internationally accepted. (Though I'm not international, I'm a citizen with a foreign degree, but whatever).

Anyway, if I submit it like say... on the 20th of October, when should I expect a response for either interview/rejection?

And how many vacancies are left???? I'm getting worried.

You are absolutely right about the diversity at Dartmouth. I really enjoyed talking to everyone I met there - they were from different backgrounds in terms of age, geography, education, culture, everything yet seemed to form a very closed-knit group. I think from what I remember from my interview day they are planning to interview anywhere between 650-800 people this cycle for a class size of 84 spots but I think the # accepted is usually a lot more because most people who get in Dartmouth end up getting in at other schools too and some choose to go elsewhere. From this thread it seems like the interviews go out in no particular order.

I personally think that they rank your application as its reviewed and then offer interviews periodically to people from this ranked list. I know they surely rank applications again post-interview. With that said, if you just submitted your secondary I would not expect to hear back atleast within the next month or so.

Good Luck with everything!

Thanks! I hope I get an interview! I really want to check out the campus. If possible, I'd like to attend this school. IT's one of the, if not THE, most ideal school in my opinion.

No wonder it's ivy-league material XD. Pray for my acceptance, and I'll pray for yours. If we both make it, I want us to be best friends there =D.

Hehe done! =)

Ah, it pays to CAREFULLY read the documents Dartmouth emails! How foolish of me.

Truebelief, physicsnerd, thanks!

Oh, and does this school accept foreign credits or only US/Canadian Credits only?

Good question. I think, however (based on the fact that there is no one here who doesn't fit this profile) that your undergrad degree must be from the US or Canada. As a logical progression on that requirement, it would make sense that your pre-med coursework must also be from the US or Canada. I know a bunch of international students at DMS, but they ALL did undergrad in the US or Canada.

It's worth checking with admissions, though.

Hey no problem. Dartmouth was I think the 3rd secondary I filled out. I think I was completed around July 20ish or somewhere between mid-late July, so it has actually been a while. I remember checking Dartmouth and waiting for a response when the first waves came out because there were people completed around my time that got interviews in late August/early September, so there is still hope haha.

I submitted mid-July and still haven't heard anything. You definitely gave me some much-needed hope! Good luck!

Just got my acceptance from Dartmouth!!! So excited! =D

Congrats man! Well deserved.

I'll be interviewing here soon, really looking forward to it. By the way, I was complete for a little over 2 months before receiving my invite, so it's certainly an ongoing process.

It got to Baltimore yesterday so I would give it another day or so to get to CA. I think the USPS site can tell you how long it should take for a letter sent out on 15th to get to CA.

Good Luck!

Was yours postmarked the 15th? I'm not much farther, so I don't think I'll be getting one yet 🙁

Yeah mine was postmarked 15th. Don't lose hope yet, they keep everyone in the running throughout the app cycle until Jan or so. Good Luck! :luck:

I'm far from losing hope. haha, I'm planning on pulling out all the stops for this school.

Anyone from the west coast hear anything yet? I've been frantically checking my mail all week!

im from cali and nothing yet ... im hoping tomorrow I will see something in the mail!

I thought they didn't give an approx. time when you would hear from them...

Interview invite. I sent in my secondaries in July, I think. Early August at the latest. Because of the green dots thing I'm not really sure when I was complete. I just got the email and they've offered me interviews for next week or the following one and I'm totally not near the campus. I'm going to have to reschedule.

Lucky, I want one!

Can anybody share their bus experience with Greyhound? Does it drop you off at somewhere close enough to the campus? How long is the ride? I am having so much trouble figuring things out from their website. For some reason I can't chose to select the Manchester airport 🙁

I guess my prayers for you worked. =D Not that you needed it, you had great stats, came from a good school, and have strong EC.

Congratulations! And congrats again! I hope I get accepted, too. Though I'm hoping for an interview as of now.

Kay - keep in touch! =D If I get an interview, I'll let you know!

anyone else find out anything post interview?

naw. eerily quite over here. im getting bad vibes 🙁

Only a couple accepts in the thread, so that probably means that they're one of those schools that sends out very few at the beginning. Then they come back around in Feb-March to accept more and fill their class.

At least that's what I'm telling myself. :xf:

I'm keeping my fingers crossed, too. I'm not too fond of schools that accept too evenly on a rolling basis. This is definitely one of my, if not TOP schools I want to attend, so I'm pretty concerned. I haven't heard anything from them yet, but then again, I just submitted less than a week ago. =="

Yeah, it's a strange system, but call the greyhound phone number, there is a bus, but it's not on their website. It drops you right on the campus.

holy s*&$%^#(@&#!!!!!!!!!! Just got accepted!!!! I can't believe this!!!! letter was postmarked 10/23 and I interviewed on 10/1! good luck to you all!!!!!

Rejected pre-interview. Good luck all.

Damn... that's a bummer. I'm sorry. Well... at least you still got an acceptance, right? Florida International. Congrats on that acceptance and sorry about the pre-interview dartmouth rejection.

Hope you don't mind me asking, but do emails include rejections/acceptances in their subject? Or do you have to open the email to find out?

And congrats to you. I'm still waiting for the interview/pre-interview-rejection... Hope I don't get a rejection email. That would ruin my day. =="

No problem, man. I mean it. Anyways, DMS is definitely one of my top choices, but it's nice though that we don't have to make any formal commitment to any school until May. Gives us a chance to see what our other offers are/the financial aid situation. We will see what happens the rest of the cycle!!!

K - hope to see you there on the 1st day of school if we both go. By the way, if I do, hopefully, get an interview, would you help me out with directions? I've never been to Hanover, New Hampshire ^^".

Make sure you send that blue sheet back within 2 weeks though.

yeah, good call. all letters and things from schools go to my home address, not my college address, so my parents forwarded me the blue sheet earlier in the week. hopefully I will get it by monday and then send it in the very same day. my two week deadline is this coming friday.

Interviewed on 10/1 with no word yet. I keep calling my mom asking "have I gotten any mail?" It'd be nice to know, though I suppose this could take a while.
