does anyone know when they'll be sending the next wave of decisions? I interviewed in mid-november, and wondering when I'll hear back?

Also, do they have some sort of set date where everyone will have heard back from DMS?

maybe someone here could help me out... who is the director of admissions at dartmouth medical school? is it still andrew welch??

so waitlists come in email, rejections and acceptances come in mail?

I'm not sure when the next date for decisions will be, but they did tell us when interviewed that the longer it takes for us to hear back from them the better since that means you're still in the running. No news is, for the most part, good news in this case I guess...

Just got WL. Pretty bummed about thids one but not all that suprised.

post interview decisions not so good so far.

I'm sorry 🙁 We've interviewed at a couple of the same schools, I'm on 2 WLs so far, awaiting another decision. I know the waiting is brutal but don't give up hope yet!
On another note, I 😍😍😍 you Dartmouth. Pleeeaase interview me. Thanks😀

Just got the interview invite this morning, not sure if I want to go because I already hold an acceptance to U Tennessee at 20K/year tuition and I'm just not sure if it is worth it. I am still waiting on my first choice. Anyone else want my interview?

I just calulated on their website, they invterview about 850 for 83 spots....

Edit: What is the 'base loan'? How much does the school end up costing for students? I've been complete since Late August

Edit: Confirmed for the 25th of February and flying into Boston Logan.

at my interview day, they said the average grant (free money, no expectation of repayment) was $15,000 per student per year. much of your loan will be institutional, which means it's at a fixed 5% interest rate. you may find the expected four year cost to be lower than you think....

...of course, you won't know unless they calculate a package for you, which they won't do unless you're accepted, which won't happen unless you attend your interview... 😉

Hi all!

I am excited to meet everyone who has been recently accepted!! There is a group on Facebook called "Dartmouth Medical School Class of 2014". Please join if you have been accepted. We're going to be discussing housing, second-look weekend, etc. I look forward to meeting all of you out there!

To those of you waiting, they are still sending out acceptances. One of my friends recently got a pre-interview rejection, so if you haven't received that, you're still being considered. Hang in there! 🙂

Hope you got there safe tonight and have a great day tomorrow. Good luck!

The interview day today was great!! The impressive match results and average board score of 236 made my day; students said pretty much every student places in their top residency...muy bien!

Also, for those of you wondering about interviews/acceptances, today they said that they are interviewing about 750 people for about 90 spots this year, for the largest DMS class ever. They actually accept 250 people.

awesome! 🙂

So I've heard absolutely nothing since October (when I was complete). I have sent about half a dozen updates, all of which were confirmed and added to my file, but I'm honestly not sure what to think at this point. Anyone else still in the same situation?

Same here, skbirdie!

Also in the same situation.

I am a Canadian applicant, complete since 10/8 and haven't heard anything yet.

Not sure if that means a silent rejection, or we're still in the running..

Complete since early July and nothing. Oh Dartmouth please interview me 😍

Complete since late October with no word, and dying to get an interview as well. I'm Canadian too 🙂

It's good to know that they accept 250 students. I wish I am one of them.

yeah 1/3 isn't bad! its not like some schools where they accept like 1/6!

Same situation. Have they rejected anyone pre-interview yet?

Interview invite! Complete late September, interviewing mid-February, OOS

average board score of 236 made my day;

Not that it is all that important...but there is no way that is true...I was a student there a few years ago and the average at DMS was a few points above the national average.

I have been waiting patiently for almost 5 months now (interviewed September 8th). Both excited and nervous for a decision.

I love the school and NH...AND Jim Kim!

Anyone else been waiting for nearly forever post-interview?

Waiting since mid-sept. I've sent updates and interest letters. I've also seen others accepted, waitlisted, and rejected. I REALLY want an acceptance here, but I think the only thing I can do for now is wait more. 😎

From Andy told us, you guys must be in the middle of the pack in their sorting, so no news is good news.

I spoke with several 4th years about this. They did say that several years ago the average board score was a few points above the national average, but since they have been making changes to the curriculum every single year, the average has been rising significantly.

it's true. The current third year class is very...studious. The current fourth years were a few points below that but still significantly above the national average.

I really hope the class isn't filled up already :xf:

I hope so too... or the interview invite I recieved yesterday is really useless. I completed the secondary in October, so I'm a little dubious about my chances.

congratulations on getting an interview! i doubt dartmouth would bother sending out invites if it already filled up its incoming class! that would be a waste of time and money! so, be positive and confident and show them what you got! 🙂 i still pray every day that dartmouth gives me an invite...

Congrats!
I hope very much to join you in the interview pile!

On an unrelated note, WHY did you withdraw from UW before getting a decision? Just wonderin..

When I interviewed on February 2nd, the Dean of Admissions told us they have already accepted more students than there are spots in the 2014 class (90); however, they accept around 250 by the time the season is said and done--he also mentioned over half the class comes from the wait list.

Congrats!

Sorry to take the thread off topic from Dartmouth, but:

I live near Seattle, so I visited the UW on an interview day that I wasn't scheduled for (I was supposed to interview in Spokane). I wasn't a fan that the UW relies primarily on a large lecture format without any kind of PBL, and the unity/community feel of the school was low because all the applicants study in their home state as a MS1 and then migrate to SEA afterwards. My impression was that the curriculum hasn't caught up with the more innovative ways med-schools have been introducing.

I did like that you could do clerkships throughout the WWAMI region, and the fact that it is a well respected in both primary care and research.

haha, thanks for answering : ) good luck on your interview!

For those of you who interviewed and heard back already, about how long, on average, has it taken to hear back from Dartmouth after your interview?

And does anyone know how often the adcom meets to decide about acceptances/waitlists, etc.?

i'm not sure how often they meet, but i think where you fall on their point system really determines how soon you'll hear back. if you're solidly in a category (reject, waitlist, or accept), i think some people have hard back as soon as a month after interviewing. but if your point value puts you on the border of rejection/waitlist or waitlist/acceptance it can take forever-i know some people are still waiting that interviewed in sept. personally, it took me a little less than 2 months to hear back. good luck🙂

I'm liking what I hear. I interviewed in early September and have not heard a peep since. I guess I can only hope that I am on the waitlist/accept border and not the rejection/waitlist.

I wonder if they are going to meet and make a bunch of decisions once they are finished with all their interviews and have numbers for everyone. Maybe the process will begin to speed up by then. Question remains -when?

I interviewed at DMS in early October and was fortunate enough to be accepted about three weeks later. I wish all of y'all still waiting, the best. :luck::xf:

Similar thing with me...I interviewed end of October and was accepted around Thanksgiving. Best if luck to everyone still waiting to hear back :luck:

Thanks to everyone for your input! I interviewed Feb. 2nd so I guess it's probably gonna be a while. I wish the time to hear back wasn't so varied and long though. Thanks again and good luck to those waiting too! Anyone else feel free to comment on waiting times post-interview, the more the merrier.

What is this point system and how is it valued? Do they use it when they give interviews as well?
