Are there still a lot of folks without news post-interview?

For those of us who interviewed in Nov, Dec, Jan (some possibly even before), who have not heard back, what does this mean for our chances now? Does anyone know the date when all applicants will hear back with final decisions?

Waiting post-interview since September 8th!

Beat that people!

Waiting post-interview since late-October....you beat me....but still...

I think some people should give Dart a call tomorrow. They are pretty friendly and receptive......we deserve some news....right?

Yeah I agree with this. And please post with any news after!

Wow Diagnostic... waiting since Sept post-interview is a very long wait 😱.
I guess I should prepare myself for the possibility of more weeks of waiting.

Interview: Sept

...Still waiting.

WOW, where are you coming from? That'll be an expensive trip...

And sorry to hear about those waiting since September... I've been wondering and I just interviewed in February haha!

They do say that AFTER interviewing "No news is good news"......but I think we deserve some news.

We all love you Dartmouth 😍

His last name was Brown. Don't remember his first name though. Thought it was funny because I watched back to the future last night, so when he introduced myself I smothered a laugh thinking of 'Doc Brown.' Anyway, hope you can look him up by that.
hey partinerns, did you interview yesterday (3/9) by any chance?

for those of you who have gotten interview invites recently, how much notification were you given and how long was the average range of dates you were given to select from? I sent an in the area notification because I have plans to be in New York and would like to coordinate those plans (since I'm from Florida and 2 trips to the Northeast would be difficult for me). I ask because I have not booked my flight yet because I was hoping to hear back, but my trip is fast approaching and ticket prices are, of course, rising. I was wondering how long I should wait to book my flight. I don't want to book it like 1.5 weeks in advance and then get an invite 1 week in advance and not be able to change my flight.

Any input would be great. Thanks! 😀

i got an interview invite the last week of february. my options to interview were the first week of march and second week of march.

good luck!

If you book through one of the travel websites (Expedia, Travelocity etc.) you usually have the option of buying trip insurance. I'm not sure exactly what it covers, but for $15 or so you might be able to change the dates of your flights with out having to pay an arm and a leg. I know my Mom used it when she was taking her great uncle to a new nursing home...he was too sick to fly for the first ticket, so she got her refund and bought a new one.

It might be something to look into at least!

Yeah, I interviewed yesterday. The school and faculty/staff were really impressive, so I'm pretty excited to hear back from them. (Although judging by some of the above comments, I shouldn't hold my breath 🙂)

Did I meet you yesterday? I see from your profile that you've already got into DMS, but I don't recall meeting any accepted students.

For those of us waiting for post-interview news:
I sent a PM to physicsnerd42, who posts in here sometimes. My main concern is that waiting this long post-interview for other schools doesn't always mean good news, but due to Dartmouth's different admissions system, that's not the case (necessarily) here. The good news is that although some of us have been waiting a while, we should know our final fates at Dartmouth in the next several weeks!!

What he said:
"Pretty soon after the interviews are over (less than two weeks now) everyone should hear something (accept, reject or waitlist). Every applicant is assigned a numerical score post-interview. At the beginning of the interview season, there is a score that if a candidate exceeds, he or she will be accepted. There is another score that if a candidate falls below, he or she will be rejected. If your score (as yours did) falls in between those two levels, you might not hear anything for a while. As the interview season progresses, the acceptance score drops and the rejection score rises. When the interview season is over, every candidate who has interviewed but who has not yet heard will be accepted, rejected or waitlisted.

So, you should hear within a few weeks. Just because you haven't been accepted yet doesn't mean you won't be, it just means that your score is between the accept and reject limits. If you're accepted, that's awesome. If you're waitlisted, don't be too disappointed because a lot of the class is taken from the waitlist every year."

I met some student yesterday during their interview. don't remember the name, but must not have been you then.

howd the interviews/day go?

i keep finding it surprising when I see the interviewees coming in for lunch. i forget that interview season is still going on here at dmouth. they go or a long time, so no one throw in the towel just yet. it ain't over till it's over. somebody's gotta get that absolute last slot right?

was the person you met in the anatomy department's lounge? if so, that may have been me.

i thought my interview went alright. i enjoyed the campus and all of the opportunities DMS has to offer. i especially love running. i trained one summer at colby college during high school. dartmouth definitely would be awesome to continue that outdoorsy experience. i can't wait to hear back!

:luck: to all the others that interviewed on 3/9 with me

I just found out I was rejected pre-interview. It took a while (complete 10/7) but at least now I know. Good luck to the rest of you!

Hmm I STILL haven't heard anything. I swear I am bound to hear by the last possible day. Reject me already.

There's like 17 Browns, anybody else know??

Oh man, I'm sorry! I bet a lot more of us are going to be right there with you as interview season comes to a close... Did you find out via email or snail mail?

I found out via email. What's funny is that I sent them an update at the end of last week. Looks like they didn't like it very much.

Received an interview invite today for March 16 or 18. Complete late Oct to early Nov. There is still hope for those waiting. :luck:

AAAH someone shoot me. Interviewed here exactly 9 days ago. Got the waitlisted email this morning 🙁
At least they were fast about it😛
I'm gonna go walk around with my head down for a while

okay, how much do they reject post-interview? ANyone have any idea how big the waitlist is? When i was there, they said everyone has a numerical score and highest scores get accepted, middle people get wait listed and lowest scoring people get rejected. THe waitlist email says the waitlist is NOT ranked. What's the real story? 😕

The waitlist is not ranked. When there's a spot that needs to be filled from the waitlist they reexamine everyone on the waitlist and then pick someone to fill the spot. This is where updates/LOIs can come in handy (the waitlist).

Does that mean ppl that didn't receive a waitlist email ....are going to recieve rejections!??! based on your ranking scale

Well I got a PM from one member who interviewed 2 weeks ago and got a rejection email this morning.

NO. if you haven't heard anything, then they don't know what they are doing with you yet. Unlike some schools, Dartmouth is very good at letting you know where you stand.

Ah I see...I guess this leads to the question...what's better: waitlist or not hearing anything??

they said something similar to us. for some reason my impression from that was of applicants being divided roughly into thirds, which makes sense given that they accept about a third of interviewees. that could just have been me reading too much into it, though.

i believe hearing nothing. i think of it this way: if you've already been waitlisted then you know you're in the middle of the pack. if you know nothing, then it's possible that you've been more highly ranked and are about to be accepted outright. letters of acceptance seem to come randomly at any time post-interview, although i would think that a wave of them is due to come out in the next two-three weeks.

Hmm so I suppose anyone who has not heard yet has been rejected pre-interview.

For what it's worth, I interviewed on Feb. 25th and was waitlisted via email yesterday.

Which is a bummer. I really liked the school.

Interview invite! I'm going to have to turn it down though. Way too late in the cycle. Hopefully someone else gets it!

Do you mind me asking what dates you had to choose from? Thanks!

the waiting is SO hard....I didn't have the greatest interview, but I haven't been rejected either and its been a long wait...I guess if March 18th is the last interview day, we can all expect to hear by end of March.

im a current student at dartmouth and i know that alot of the ppl in my class (myself included) got in from the waitlist.

so there is hope and lots of it.

best of luck to you guys!

Whether I've been waitlisted or accepted I don't know, but I just received a background investigation consent request from AMCAS. Dartmouth is one of only two AMCAS schools I haven't withdrawn from... Hmm... Back to waiting as usual I guess 🙂

Still waiting on mine too...near as I can tell, there aren't any interviews left really, so what are they waiting on?🙁

Maybe they're waiting to see if people will accept/reject their recent invites and will send some of us a last-minute invite. 😕 I don't know but I'm guessing we'll have our answer in the next day.

That seems like a good news. Do you know if you get background check for every school you are accepted to?

I have no clue actually- the email specifically said that I had been accepted/waitlisted at a school that participates in the AAMC certipho background check program. I haven't been accepted by any other AMCAS schools because I withdrew from all of them except 2, which I'm waiting to hear post interview from both. So I have no idea if they have to request for your consent every time a new school accepts/waitlists you or if they do it just the first time.
