i am really sleeping on this 2ndary.. but i just got it a couple weeks ago.. i think the whole mail in thing is making me slag
 
Hey guys,

I was complete on 8/5/09 and have been Under Review since. They say 4-6 weeks. Should I call or just wait? Do the URM invites get sent out before the non-URM? Non-URM here.

URM here, complete and "under review" since August as well. I think they're just a bit slow because I mailed out my secondary the following day it was released and it took until 8/26 for me to be marked "complete." As far as who gets first round invites, I have no idea...it seems random like most other schools.

You are talking about interview invites, right? (I assume so b/c you said complete and under review) I would never call an admissions office about not receiving an interview invite - maybe for not receiving a secondary or a complete email, but not for an interview. It's all about patience. I hear they have a small admissions staff that I'm sure is swamped with applications. Also, they just started interviewing in the latter half of September. I wouldn't start getting worried until like December. Breathe!!!

I just had my interview today and there were both non-urm and urm there. I completed my apps around Aug 25th but didnt get comfomation until mid-Sept. I got my interview invite 8 days after being confirmed.

I think you should sent Ms. Walk an email or/and call the admin. office

My committee packet arrived (at AMCAS) after my secondary application was received by Howard. So I got a "Secondary has been received email".

I noticed some people talking about an email that says their application is complete.

Should I expect to get another email from Howard that says my application is complete and ready for review?

Ok im back...something bad happened @ the interview i had 2 pay .07 cents 4 my lunch. I LOVE the school the people the area i did get 2 jog @ 5am there was nobody else out as 4 the interview it went well there were no if john ate all the bread should he feel bad type questions. The questions were geared 2 how u will fit in. PM me if u have any questions Shout outs 2 every1 there on the 7th good luck
 
I only got one that said complete then the next was an interview and within that one it said LOR complete.[

On September 3 and nothing since. Should I call?

anyone would like to share GPA/MCAT scores? i'm interested in applying but not sure if my stats are too low. i'm an international student with cgpa ~ 3.6, mcat 27m.
 
This is not related to the actual admissions process...but is anyone going to homecoming this year?

i keep gettn pm asking was the interview day chaoctic .. No it was not they did not run on cp time they were professional please dont let a few negative stories cloud your judgement the admission process is a waiting game @ all schools

The reason why things at HUCM are seeming slow is because their admissions staff lost several people to retirement last year that had no replacements. There is only 4-5 people working in the admissions office so its going to take them a little longer to evaluate applicants...

Got my complete email today. Sent in my stuff last Friday. I live in Michigan so it took some time to get there. If you still haven't gotten a complete email, and sent your stuff in before last week, I'd ask them about it.
 
introduction: so i've been stalking this for a while--a good 2 years or so, and finally joined.

question: so the email you (those who have received an interview) had the words "complete" in them? i ask because i, too, received the "we received your secondary and $$. thanks" email, but i didn't see the words "complete."

(i want to go here so baddddd)

There is an email for receiving the secondary and money? I mailed it last week and haven't heard anything Howard. Is the wait for the "completed" email usually a week?

Yes sir/Ma'am...How far from DC are you? Could just be a delay from the post office.

I am still waiting on one LOR to come in...could that delay my "complete" email as well? I sent mine in maybe 2 weeks ago, but I sent it priority mail. I think I'll just call their office on Monday

I bet it could. I don't think they'll mark you complete until they get the minimum required LORs. I think for Howard, that is 2 science prof. letters. Calling the office sounds like a good idea though 🙂.
 
I mailed it from Richmond VA so 100 miles away and the tracking said Howard received it already. I'm calling first thing Monday morning then. Thanks for the heads up.

I called the admissions office throughout today and no one picked up. The message said to call in the morning and afternoon. When is the best time to call to reach someone?
 
got my "secondary application and secondary application fee" received email this morning...now more waiting..*sigh*

i turned in my 2ndary 9/18
ms. walk confirmed receiving it on 10/05
interview invitation sent today 10/13

thanks platinumpenny! and i know what you mean with the timelines. just to clarify (in case you were wondering like i was), there wasn't an email sent about the application being complete.
 
I got an e-mail. I am completed!!! Now the waiting begins for the interview!!😀
 
Weird.. I tried to e-mail Ms. Walk directly about the whole fact that I never got a complete e-mail after a month. After several e-mails.... Can someone please help me understand these cryptic answers? Really I just wanted a complete e-mail... Guess no love from Howard.....

Me: I received an e-mail on September 3 alerting me that my secondary had been received, but did not receive an e-mail to denote that my file is
complete. I called during call-in hours but there was no answer,
perhaps due to the holiday. Is my file at Howard complete?
Ms. Walk: If your recommendations have been received by AMCAS, then you are complete.
Me: Yes, they were received in June. I have heard of other applicants
receiving a completed e-mail that states the application had been
passed to the committee. I tried to call again during office hours with no luck.
Ms. Walk: We try to pick up the phones between 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. and 2:30-3:30 p.m. Of course, during that time all staff are usually on the phones, so it may take a few tries. Occasionally, we may be attending a meeting. We (Admssions screeners) will be reviewing applications through March. Every school processes applications differently. We do not use filters. We lay hands on every application. It takes months to review 4,000 applications.
Me: Thanks, Ms. Walk. I was referring to other applicants from Howard
receiving that 'file complete' e-mail. So I will not receive
notification when my file is passed to the committee?
Ms. Walk: The committee as a whole does not review until after interview. We have screeners.
 
in all honesty I don't think there is a "complete email" perse, i think if all your LORs and MCAT are in and u got the "we received ur 2ndary and $$" then its safe to assume you are complete...although it would be nice of them to send out a complete email just to ease our nerves a bit during this waiting game
 
You get an email saying they recieved your secondary and money order... when you get invited for an interview that is when they tell that your LORs are fine if they are acceptable. Your interview invite is headed Invite Howard.... I do not have a time frame because i sent my secondaries 1 day after they were released in aug and I was invited for the first batch of invites last week of sept or first week of oct were my choices. GOOD LUCK never stop fighting until the fighting is done... 🙂:xf:😍

this makes sense, but then why are some people saying they got a complete email? and i don't just mean those with interviews...how confusing 😕
 
I am sorry I did not get a complete email from Howard maybe other people did I guess.......or maybe to them complete means they recieved everything and now I am complete.....It does not matter as long as they have your application and money and confirmed it. Don't sweat the small stuff practice for that interview that will becoming soon.....👍 Good Luck i will send you positive energy😍

👍 I should clarify that my email wasn't a "your file is complete" email, but one that just said they had received my secondary application and fee. Since these were the only components of my application that were missing at Howard, I inferred that when they told me they received these things, that I was complete at Howard.

Anyone interviewing October 20, I'm from Massachusetts so DC is big time for me. Anyone? 😀😀 Thats how I feel! Oh and I did receive a complete email from howard, then 3 weeks later the invite.
