I received an e-mail last night time stamped at 10:45 pm! I hadn't checked my status though.

That seems to have been the case thus far. I got an interview invite without a complete email.

I got an email that said this:

Dear Applicant:

Your application is complete and under review. Interviews are by invitation only and are conducted from mid September until mid April. Applicants invited for interview will receive invitations between September and April.

Thank you for your interest in Jefferson Medical College.

you must be the only person.. ha

How long did it take for people to receive a YES next to 'Letters of Recommendation Received?' ? I've had everything in there for almost 3 weeks now... this is the only missing 'YES'.

It took me a couple of days, I think. Maybe you should call or email and ask?

Same thing happened to me, most likely they haven't updated the system yet. I simply called them and they updated it over the phone.

For those of you who have recently received an interview request, do you mind sharing how long it took.

This school has a really weird way of doing things. The status of my letters said "Not received" so I emailed them and then they sent me a complete email (the same someone previously posted) And now it says "No" again in front of the letters...

I am a little confused by this also. I think the best thing might be to call again. I heard from someone that its best to call and sort your application status with Jefferson.

Yeah, I had the same problem - letters uploaded through AMCAS but no "Yes" for letters on my secondary status page. I called and the woman I spoke with was very kind and sorted it out immediately. So I suggest you call them again.

does anyone know if this college still averages mcat scores?

interesting-I didn't know they used to/do. If so, I definitely won't be surprised if I don't get an interview invite from here as the average of my two attempts is not too impressive!

I have spoken with the Dean of Admissions here at JMC, and from what I remember she said they do not average--they take the most recent.

Received and submitted on 8/11... Interview Invite 9/1.. Interview 11/4

If you don't mind me asking even deeper, what were your stats? I'm just trying to get an idea of how they are choosing, I submitted mine on 8/17 and am just wondering.

Thanks, very close to mine if they don't average the MCAT. Congrats on the interview!

Not sure if I want to add this school to my application or not... I was reading a bit about it in my Princeton Review 168 best Medical Schools book. They seemed to imply that much of the clinical training is done away from TMC, at various hospitals around NJ/Penn/Delaware/NYC. That would be a huge turn off: I don't want to spend 2 years there and then spend the final two being constantly moving around the tri state area. Does anyone else know anything about how the clinical training works at TMC? Can you just do your training at Thomas Jefferson University hospital? I understand that many medical schools allow you to train at other hospitals, but for me I'd like the schools hospital to be a 'main' option...

philly med, are you sure? i called earlier this summer and admissions told me they indeed averaged scores

submitted 8/5 complete 8/11
still waiting to hear something... :scared:

How long have you guys typically had to wait for the status page to show "Yes" for received letters of rec?

I've been waiting about a week... Not sure how long I should wait before I call.

I think I waited a week to call about mine. A nice guy picked up the phone and switched it to "yes" for me... He also said though that in their system my application was complete 4 days prior to when I called and that I was under review.. they just hadn't switched my status page.

Hmmm, interesting. I think I'll wait until Monday then. I just didn't want to jump the gun on the phone call.

Argh, I could have sworn that I heard that. But now that you're making me question my gut thought... I'm not sure!

If you called, you are probably right. I have talked to a bunch of different Admissions people so it is definitely possible I could be mistaken.

can somebody post the link to check your status?

NVM! lol

So right now on my secondary status page it says

AMCAS Application Received?
Yes Jefferson Secondary Application Received?
Yes Jefferson Secondary Application Fee Paid?
Yes Letters of Recommendation Received?
Yes
does that mean I am complete?

I submitted about a week ago but I never sent my transcript...I didn't even remember noticing that, that seems like such an odd request do I really have to send in my transcript or am I already complete?

You're complete. You don't need to send a transcript.

I really, really want to go to Jefferson. Of the people that have gotten interviews so far, what are your stats and when were you complete, if you don't mind me asking? I have a 3.62/35S, complete mid to late August.

So we should not be concerned if we have not received a "complete" email...correct? I think all the confusion is a result of the format of the status page... it looks like there should be something written on the shaded line that says "Application Status".

Simple answer is that you won't be able to do all of your rotations at Jefferson, but you have some say on where you do your rotations. A large chunk of the other hospitals are Jefferson affiliates that are around the city of Philadelphia. The only other major area that Jefferson has hospitals in is Delaware (everyone does Peds in DE). There are a couple of family med and surgery sites that are further away which will provide housing for you, but for the most part if you want to stay in the Philly area you can.

In all honesty, most schools have hospitals scattered around the area and I've never heard of anyone having all their rotations in the same hospital. Hopefully that helps you in your decision of which schools to apply to. Good luck!

hey all! i have my jefferson secondary and i'm wondering, for those of you who got interveiw invites, did you fill out the additional info part? i'm not so sure i have any additional information to add to my application but i was wondering if they seemed to only be taking people who had additional info or if it doesnt really matter...

apparently it doesn't matter. I typed in a bunch of stuff though.

i also put n/a under the SAT scores box and then it said I had to enter a value between 0 and 800 so then I left it blank.

But it's complete now..

👍

Has anyone else noticed when you call Jefferson Admissions, one of the phone options is something like "If you would like to request an interview, press 4" or something similar.

What the heck is that? Haha, I just found it funny. Has anyone tried it?! 😛

Then it goes, "Thank you, BlueElmo. Your interview has been scheduled for 9/27. We hope you enjoy our interview, which begins at 10 AM. It will start with a short introduction by our Dean, then the actual interview, followed by lunch with our staff, a tour of the facilities by our students, a financial aid presentation, then the conclusion. It will end around 3 PM. We do hope you will enjoy your time with us. We hope to see you again. Good-bye."

I hope they come out with "Press 5 for an acceptance" in the near future.

wait, for real?

i'm tired today! especially since i have to deal with non-new yorkers giving transit advice in the AECOM thread

haha its ok. For a second I was like "seriously?!", and then I realized that Blue had to be kidding.

I submitted 8/11 .... now it is 9/15 ...... Letters Received? No.

I'm calling them first thing in the morning. This is ridiculous. I'm hoping they received and just haven't updated the site .....

The emails I received from JMC have mysteriously disappeared out of my inbox and I have can't remember what to use for my "login in ID" and "PIN". Also, if one of these is something that is randomly assigned does anyone have an email addy for the person to contact if you've lost your PIN or ID? Thanks a bunch!
Jen
