so I'm guessing its not a good thing if i interviewed late october and didn't hear anything today... crap

OK, excuse my extreeeeme geekiness for 2.5 seconds to let me say this:

Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated (into NWU class of 2014!).

No one saw that. >.>
 niiiiice! 👍

Your mdapps says you interviewed on 10/19 just like I did, but I haven't heard anything back either. I'm presuming this means deferral til march because if you look back at last round of notifications, people were accepted, and then like a week later, everyone else was told they were deferred. However, I cannot be sure of anything in this wild world of admissions.

Why on earth would they do that? they know who's in and who's deferred, but they wait a week to tell us? so we can have the soul-crushing experience of a small stream of hope that diminishes daily and finally runs dry?

That's exactly what they do. Acceptances shortly followed by deferrals and rejections. Best of luck.

Not sure it matters, but I actually interviewed on 11/4. I got the invite on 10/19. I've sort of been vacillating on how much info to give on MDapps for privacy reasons, but there you have it 🙂

The question was 'why', not 'what.' that's why it has the word 'why' at the beginning of it.

So when do pre-interview rejections come?? Has anybody received them?? Do they come in March or May after all acceptances have been given??

I interviewed late November as well although I haven't heard from them yet. I hope things work out for us all:xf:

quick question tho, is it too late to send a thank you letter?

That depresses me, as I interviewed mid-october. booo northwestern, i really loved you.

Just got accepted via email. interviewed last week of October (20 something)

accepted today!!! i'm so happy northwestern was my number 1 by far, especially happy after i was all but assured deferral was coming this week. i guess we can never make assumptions about what the adcoms are going to do

wow you guys are awesome. i rescind my aforementioned comment about us all being deferred I guess! good luck to all waiting still then!

For those of you who interviewed already - what did they say about the chances of you getting scholarships/merit money for them, if anything?

Thanks!

Yea, i just got the deferral email today. Hopefully good news will come in march. Congrats to all of you that got acceptances though

Does anybody know what percentage of the incoming class were originally deferred until march?

Hello __________,
I wish to take this opportunity to again thank you for interviewing at the Feinberg School of Medicine. We appreciate the expenditure of effort and resources necessary to interview with us.
Our admissions committee has met recently and reviewed your application and our interviewers’ reports and decided to delay until March a final decision on your application.
I expect that many of the applicants receiving this message will eventually receive an acceptance to FSM. Some will be placed on a waitlist and only a few will be declined. I wish we could have a final decision for you now, but the volume of candidates yet to be seen makes it advisable that we delay.
Please be patient and check back to the FSM website to receive news about Northwestern. As always, we are pleased to receive updates from you. You can send any additional information to [email protected].
We appreciate your continued interest in the Feinberg School of Medicine and look forward to communicating with you in the future.
Warmest Regards,
Warren H Wallace, MD
Associate Dean for Admission

^^ just got this

Same here.....
And it's the 3rd bad news I've heard from the schooled I interviewed @ (the 2 others are vandy and pitts)...I am very very depressed now cause I make me thinking of a major fault(s) in my application....🙁

I was expecting a deferral though. Dr. Wallace was 10 minutes late to my interview and let the interview out 5 minutes early. This was out of a 30 minute individual interview. The group interview went a lot better for me, I loved my two interviewers.

I hate this line of the email because it just gives me false hope.

i'm sure your app is fine. you're sitting on more acceptances than most ppl. umich and southwestern are no joke either.

i forgot who posted this, but when i read it i realized how true it probably is. that is, schools really know what kind of student they want and what kind of students will fit in well with their school. if you get rejected/waitlisted, that doesnt mean you suck and everyone else who got in is better than you. they just fit the mold of the student the adcom has in mind.

Complete 8/13. I just received an invite today. No fear for those of you who have waited months and months

stats if u dont mind?

This does give me hope! What interview dates were available?? (latest dates)

so i finally got some closure to the whole campus recruiter mystery. briefly-- was guaranteed an interview from northwestern representative back in october...then heard nothing until this morning ( complete 9/24). its been a torturous 3 months but just goes to show you there's still hope for us.

So we're reaching the end of the line for Northwestern.

They only extend interview invites into mid-January and don't interview anyone in March.

I guess I'm toast here.

aww really? on their site, it says they could extend an invitation through February. is that not really true?

still...:xf:!!!

Interviewed 12/2...Do I still have a long wait before I get my decision?

Rejected via email. Pre-Interview. Complete 8/20.

+1... peace out Chicago. Definitely just withdrew from Loyola tonight too. Time to wrap this process up!

Still alive. But for how long? Who knows?

still under review here too, seems to be a common theme in my life.
