To those of you who have been accepted into NU i was hoping you could help me out. I really would like to apply to NU, but I am not sure what their averages are---does anyone get in with less than a 30 mcat (i'm taking mine this summer)? What do they really look for in your application in order to get an interview (to those who did get that far and what were your impressions of what they were looking for?) Do they give secondaries to everyone regardless of stats, or do they screen first? Any other information would be fabulous! Thanks

In 2008/9 median mcat for accepted students was 35Q
Average GPA was 3.8

Very few people with less than a 30 will get in. You would have to have done something quite special.

They are looking at your personal statement, grades, gpa, research experience, clinical experience and EC's, LOR...etc.

it's pass/fail for the first 2 years
There is internal ranking, but it's primarily just for getting a point for AOA. Your rank isn't provided to residencies

Has anyone found information about immunization requirements? Most schools have sent me something but I don't remember seeing something from NU, and I can't seen to find the info online... Can anyone help me out?

I would also very much like this information! I think I remember seeing something somewhere about having to undergo a physical exam prior to matriculation, but that's all I know...

As much as I enjoyed Feinberg, I just withdrew. It's disappointing when you reach out to Financial Aid and don't get a response. The thought of being over $200K in debt is devastating!

Just withdrew as well for similar reasons, as awesome as it would be to live in downtown Chicago

I withdrew on 5/13 but never got a confirmation (all my other schools gave me a confirmation within 24 hrs). Was this the case for everyone?

I also know someone who withdrew. Other than that, I have no idea what NU is up to. Got a confirmation email a week after sending in my acceptance email, but nothing since. Seems like they haven't been doing too well with communication... Should we take that as a bad sign? I hope they get better at keeping us in the know!

I may be wrong, but I think that most schools are caught up with finalizing their incoming class lists and thus most of their correspondence is probably tied up with waitlisted candidates...emails for incoming students will probably amp up during June, July, etc. I don't think that the silence from NU is that strange. For what it's worth, I have been exchanging emails with Dean Wallace recently because I'm currently holding multiple acceptances (for reasons that are acceptable by AAMC rules), and he has been extremely supportive, patient, and communicative. Sooo nice.

I'll be attending in the fall and haven't heard a word from NU since financial aid stuff. Just wondering whether I've been missing things (and it'd be nice to have a final confirmation about enrollment...)

I recently withdrew, but before that I received an email from Annalisa Tincher about sending in a final transcript. This email was addressed to a lot of people - I assume the entire incoming class - and I would shoot Feinberg a quick email if you didn't receive it.

whats the likelyhood northwestern will give me a merit based scholarship? do they have a lot of these. they told me that as people withdraw, they will give out more to the people who didnt get them. northwestern is hella expensive and, being an international student, is really hard to afford.

They gave me a vague response...as people withdraw, they will offer scholarships to others.

Can someone explain to me how students can withdraw after the May 15 deadline? I thought that you can only hold once acceptance after that date. Are that many people deciding medical school is not for them?

You can hold a place on a waitlist after May 15th. So if a school at which you're waitlisted offers you a position after May 15th, you are allowed to accept the offer and withdraw from the school that you were originally holding on May 15th. I highly doubt that any of the post May 15th withdrawals are people deciding not to attend med school - it's probably just general waitlist movement. 🙂

Recently got off the waitlist and was accepted. Don't give up hope. Keep your updates coming. I was told it makes a difference.
