Also, I second the question above - what is the specific e-mail address that we should be sending update letters to? I can't seem to find one besides the general admissions office e-mail, though that's probably where it should be sent to anyway :smack:

I just sent one to the general one, [email protected][/QUOTE]

Did you get a response acknowledging receipt of your update?? I emailed one but they never responded...

I lied, I actually sent a letter of interest...my interviewer never asked why or if I was interested in NYU, so I sort of felt the need to say that I am!

I did not get a response. I am going to call in late december though to ask what email to use for an update because I will be getting grades and all that...

I checked on last year's thread and there was something about how NYU prefers everything to be electronic, so I would not worry too much about not getting a response. I will post on what they say when I call about update though.

Final decision pending as well, interviewed end of October. Benny, I wouldn't worry too much. You'll probably get a decision by then anyway (Dec 15th is just 5 short days away!).

Yea, I am pretty terrified! Expecting not to hear anything till March 1st, though. Here come 3 more months of anxious waiting, anxiety, and self doubt!

i just checked my secondary app page for the first time in about 2 months and it now says "final decision pending"...before it was "invited for interview" (or along those lines). interviewed in mid-nov. should i expect to hear back soon? 😀😀 anyone else have that who interviewed really recently?

I interviewed last week and mine says the same.

yeah, same thing, I interviewed on Tuesday... so I wouldn't read into it too much.

i just sent a letter with updates. i interviewed way back in mid-october. i wonder if it's too late to matter (especially since 12/15 is so soon).

I interviewed mid-oct as well and have been thinking about sending a letter for the past month. I've just figured it's too late, but maybe I should anyways. I'm regretting not sending one right after the interview.

why's everyone talking about 12/15 so much? did nyu officially say they were going to come out with decisions then? which interview dates would they be deciding on? I distinctly recall them telling us during lunch that we'd probably not hear until late Jan at the earliest..

Most who interviewed in Oct will apparently hear in late December. I interviewed 10/16 and was told several times we would hear in December if accepted. I remember hearing 12/15 specifically on my interview day, but when I called NYU about it someone said 12/15 was a rumor and they're not sure yet when the exact day will be, but it will be in late Dec.

the website gives the 12/15 date:

http://admissions.med.nyu.edu/application-calendar

December: Deadline for secondary applications is December 1st. The first round of acceptance letters will be sent on December 15th.

at my interview they said that acceptances go out mid to late december.

Hehe, a rumor? ...Started by NYU by placing that date on their own website. 🙄

does anybody know about the NYU curriculum? It seems all, but impossible to find.

the best way to learn info about nyu is through the student handbook, which you can find online

hey guys i interviewed here on 12/2 they told us that our interview group would be told in december as well. they did say maybe a little later than 12/15, around 12/20.

Last year the first people heard was 12/22. I'm not keeping my hopes up for 12/15.

for those of you who interviewed already, how did it go? got any tips? mine is next week

Thanks for calling! You saved me the anxiety of jumping everytime I get an "Inbox (1)" in my email tomorrow 🙂

Think of ways that you can extend the conversation. NYU interviews can be SHORT. At the end of my half-hour interview (a normal length for an NYU interview), I essentially said, "I'd also like you to know XYZ." This doubled the interview length and gave my interviewer more to report to the committee.

Just called a couple of minutes ago. Decisions are most likely not going to go out tomorrow by sometime this week or early next week.:xf:

i've learned with this process to just chill...the more you can convince yourself that you don't care when it comes, the more likely it happens to appear...these schools love to surprise us!

at least thats what has happened to me on 3/3 acceptances- i've gotten them all earlier than i expected (and what i expected was only what the institutions told me on interview day!)

OH NO!!!!!!!!@#! It's now the 15th and I don't have an email in my inbox from NYU. I knew this would happen - I've been having bad dreams about this for weeks!! Help guys, am I waitlised??

SILENT REJECTION???!???!!?????

hilarious 👍😀

I called the office to try and get my status over the phone. No luck.

I was told that acceptances will go out NEXT week, not later this week. Notifications will be through email.

thanks for the heads-up. i appreciate people who are willing to do what i'm too afraid to do-- call them and ask, straight up  👍

Some schools have told me over the phone when I've called and specifically asked. They know whether we're in by now, and we know that they know... (although of course I don't say this to them🙂

The schools that have fast turn-around times and let accepted applicants know over the phone are smart. It makes applicants feel like they're getting individual attention and it can make a huge difference in how we feel about the school. Even if the admissions office puts on a great interview day, the last and thus longest-lasting impression we have is from that stressful waiting period...

Or maybe that's only true for me🙂

i agree-it would really be much nicer if they let you know on the phone-there can't be any harm in that

because the instant someone on sdn posts that they received their decision via telephone, EVERYONE will be calling them and asking for it. needless to say, they probably wouldn't appreciate that

Two schools let me know over the phone. I'm sure they received lots of phone calls, but they survived.

It just comes down to whether a school feels that dealing with the hassle is worth the extra love they'll get from students. You have to give some love in order to get it.

GoDucks, if you don't mind me asking - what were the two schools that revealed statuses over the phone? If they happen to be two schools from which I hope to hear, I may be giving them a call soon 😛

At least you guys are dealing with the MD side of things. MSTP applications for some of us are still under review, with no status updates whatsoever.

I wonder if the interviewees this week still find out by next week. I interw on 12/15, does anyonev know when we find out?

I'd venture to guess most likely that you won't find out next week. I'd assume most decision will be made this week and it's highly unlikely they'll get to your file in time.

I guess the consensus here is that they're having one big marathon meeting in which they decide on all interviewees, regardless of interview date?

:luck::luck::luck:

Hey all,

Does anyone on this thread know what days NYU typically conducts interviews? I'm going to be interviewing at Cornell in mid-January (probably 1/12, 1/13, or 1/14) and I was wondering a) if it would be a good idea to send an "in the area" letter of interest to NYU and b) if they did have me for an interview, what are their mid-January dates? Ideally, I can coordinate an NYC area trip to consolidate interviews (currently on the West Coast and have a strong interest in reducing the number of redeyes I fly). I also have completed apps in at Columbia and Yale, if anyone knows anything about those schools' interview dates.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

I believe they interview everyday.

Anyway, I do NOT want to wait till christmas or even march! Tell us now NYU!

w00t! interviewed 10/7; accepted by email this morning.

Interviewed in early Oct. Acceptance email at 9 this morning.
