Unchanged for me too...that makes two post-interview holds. How agonizing! Ughhhhhh >_< I'm super happy that it's not a big fat NO, but now I have to cross even my toes.

I just called, because I was freaking out about the email. They said it was an error and another one is coming out. Maybe there's such a large pool that they have to do multiple mailing lists or something...

Rejected? Not status unchanged? That sucks man.

Sorry to hear that!!! I hope you have other schools you applied to! If not, don't get discouraged, just apply again next year after upping your resume. They REALLY need to open more spots...if physicians are so short in this country...it's ridiculous than tons of brilliant people who would be awesome doctors don't get in b/c there are so few spots... *end venting*

status unchanged :/
auriga me too two holds ><
also agree with you that they really ought to have more med schools (along with more incentives for teaching) and less rejections when, like you said, there is such a demand for physicians.
sorry icehcky8, hope you get in somewhere

Accepted!! Interviewed back in November and received a Status Unchanged email in December. So there is still hope for those that received the "status unchanged" email. I was pleasantly surprised with this place during the interview. Great facilities (specially the new simulation lab), very nice people that seem to go out of their way to make sure the students have a good experience.

Just got accepted this morning!!! Interviewed in December. OOS from Illinois

Congrats on the acceptances!

For those of you unchanged remember that, although Mizzou is officially a rolling-school, the bulk of the class is accepted in March and good portion of the class comes from the waitlist. Unlike other schools, Mizzou does not over admit. It might not be the warmest-fuzziest process, but it is a long way from being over. Good luck and hang in there!! :luck:

I interviewed in October and have gotten status unchanged emails since.

Has anyone heard recently how many spots are left in the class?

Hey Guys,

I know the advice to relax is the most impossible advice I could give. But really now...well here's what happened with c/o 2013...

30-40 kids (of the 96) were taken automatically from Conley/other auto-in program. The remaining 66-56 kids were admitted going ALL the way into the "bottom third"; though from what I understand, the last kid was really high in the bottom third. This guy was taken off the waitlist/admitted Thursday **OF** orientation week (seriously, someone dropped out during orientation...idiot 😛)

So, I don't know if that helps or hurts, but just sharing what happened last year. I'm an M1 and just checked this for the first time this year - let me know if you have any questions - I'll try and check this forum again soon.

ALSO - for those who have been accepted multiple places and are wondering where to go...THIS is an *amazing* school. I absolutely adore it - I ended up choosing Mizzou over a couple of other offers and am so (SO!!) happy I did!

OK - feel free to shoot me any questions - GOOD LUCK to you all - you all will be great I'm sure!! :luck: :luck: :luck:

From the information they gave us on the interview day, it seems like last year they made 145 acceptance offers for 96 spots; which means about half (49 to be exact) of the class was accepted from the wait list. So those of you that are on the post interview hold, hang in there. Plenty of acceptance offers still to be made.

I got in!!! WOOOOO. 😱 Really a hidden treasure.

I'm so glad I got in here, first acceptance!!

Hello all! Someone emailed this article to me the other day. Since there's been discussion on the board about shortage of physicians etc, I thought some of you might be interested.

Wishing everyone the best of luck! :luck:

Paraphrased... 3rd year cores and 4th year electives can now be completed at St. Johh's or Cox in Springfield. One of the barriers to expanding the class size was just logistically accommodating all the potential 3rd and 4th years needing rotations. University Hospital only has so many general surgeons and each team can realistically only have so many students at a time, for example. By bringing these hospital systems into the mix it should be easier to increase the class size in the near future. It will be interesting to see how it plays out!

The way I understand it, these hospitals had been approached by DO schools wanting to expand into that area. The hospitals declined and sought out the University of Missouri for an educational partnership. I can't wait to see how it looks once students hit the wards at these places!

I'm excited about this partnership! I REALLY liked MU and am still on hold, and I currently attend college in Springfield. I have experience with both Cox and St. John's, and they are two great health systems!! Ahh this makes me want to get in even more!!!

(while rubbing hands together with diabolical laughter) Excellent!!! Bwahahahahah! 🙂

Hey guys, anybody have any idea on when the big decision will happen?

No! But...I would love to know this if any of the med students have any insight? I interviewed late in the cycle and am dyingggg to hear back! No acceptances yet and honestly, mizzou is kinda awesome! 🙂 lemme know if anyone has any idea! And gluck to kobe and everyone else

Thanks! Yeah--- interviewed 2 weeks ago. The adcom said 2-3 weeks, so I've been (patiently) waiting... just kind of curious, since it is the end of the interview season at Mizzou if there was any chatter on campus.

Good luck to everyone in my shoes, waiting to hear or waiting to find out their spot on the waitlist. I started filling out AMCAS in May... almost nine months ago. Waiting = painful.........

Any other Cali residents thinking of Mizzou? Come on, I can't be the only one! 😎
You might be! Mizzou doesn't seem to take a lot of OOS kids! Anyone else checking their mail/email obsessively these days?

However, if you were granted an interview at that point being OOS is no longer a disadvantage. I think the only extra hoop was the diversity essay. At least that's what I'm hoping, because I'm an Arkansas boy without an acceptance yet.

Not from Cali; but also OOS. Good luck!! I want to hear some good news!! If it's really on Monday, this weekend is going to be brutal!!

Yeah, I get nervous every time I open my email. Will we be informed via email or regular?

Monday, eh? Good luck all!
Yeah, I called the OME on Monday and Shawn said it would be this coming Monday. Granted, it seems like they have some flexibility with that, so maybe a few days either way, but she seemed pretty definite.

To the poster above, notifications will come by email. Good luck again all! No matter what the outcome for me, I'll be pulling for you guys! :luck:

Note: That doesn't mean I'm still not praying for one of those spots.

Has anyone that interviewed on 2/9 heard anything? I kind of assume this Monday deadline will be when we hear; but, just curious... Thanks.

This is going to be a long weekend. I think I'll end up going to the movies to distract myself. Let's all send good thoughts to each other. :luck: Hopefully we'll all get good news and we can start planning fun stuff for when we get to Mizzou!

Has anyone actually heard of people being accepted in the late Feb/March update? When I go through the old threads, it seems to be either rejected or waitlisted at this time...

Ughh!! Oh, no! :smack:... Meanwhile, my email has been open ALL day. I know that someone on here said 3/1. . . guess I need to calm down.

Yes, people are accepted in the upcoming update. At the time of the March update, there will be enough acceptances sent out to fill every seat. A waitlist of ~96 is generated and the rest are rejected. As some of the accepted applicants decline, the waitlist will be tapped to take their places. (Historically, Mizzou makes ~130-160 offers to fill the class.)

It is also my understanding that once the new PBL lab is built, they will pull from the waitlist to fill those additional 8 seats.

Captain, have you heard any definitive news if the new PBL lab is going to happen for this year or not?

I understand. Thanks for the insight 🙂 I guess I just wanted everyone to realize that more than likely it will be a rejection or waitlist, just going by past threads. I am sure the majority of acceptances have been given since it is getting late in the application season. But it is possible! Good luck everyone :luck:

I'm obsessively checking my email address and keeping my cellphone at hand. I really hope that we find out on Sunday... like last year's thread that found out 2/28 (even though it was a Saturday). Good luck to everyone, too!! Let's hope there are more acceptances than in previous history.

When I asked today, they said it would be sometime next week, but they weren't sure which day.

Sending out good vibes to everyone:luck:

Ugh. I can confirm this. I called again and the same person who told me Monday is now saying they don't know what day yet. The decisions are made, why not just email us?

My guess is that they are waiting to find out yay or nay on the extra 8.

Captain, have you heard any definitive news if the new PBL lab is going to happen for this year or not?

Well, I can tell you what I have been told. How's that?

Construction is scheduled to begin sometime in the next few weeks. (Just this week we were asked to move some things to prepare for it.) I'm told the project schedule shows it being finished in time. The dean has said that she won't fill those extra seats until she's sure the new lab will be habitable on the first day of school.

That's all I can pass on 'cause that's all I know. I could speculate, which might be a lot of fun, but probably not something you would find very helpful.

My guess -- and this is just my guess since I don't serve on the adcom -- is that 1/2 to 2/3 of the initial 96 offers have been made. So that would leave ~30-40 acceptances for this update.

This is, of course, if they did things similarly to how they've done them in the past. Like I said, I'm not on the adcom so I'm in the deep end with out my floaties right now.

Beings that it's now officially week 9, wouldn't you be in the same situation if you weren't here speculating with us?

:meanie:

Ha! Exam week starting on Monday is more like being in the middle of the Pacific -- at least the pool has life guards.

I got caught up in board prep and neglected school a little too much. It's gonna be a long weekend. 👎

thanks for your input here captain and good luck on your tests!

good luck to everyone else for next week (hopefully monday).

ditto on the long weekend. 👎

and then when it's all done....... you have to be with ME for the following 9 weeks!! hahahahahahaha!!!!!! sucka... :meanie:

on a more serious note, good luck to everyone waiting. I agree with CF that there are probably 30-40 spots currently unfilled. if you do get a waitlist notification, it is NOT over for you- cannot stress that enough. our waitlist moves a lot in May/June.

thanks, lb. btw, for those of you who have already been accepted, it *might* be time for you guys to start your own class thread in the Allo forum. just sayin'. 😉

color that done!
