How full is the class right now? Anyone have an idea?

Because, they are still giving out straightup acceptances during this final excom meeting right?

I'm not sure how full it is right now, last I heard the WA spots were about half full maybe a month ago. So yes, I believe straight acceptances will be handed out...

a few posts back we were talking about how last year most people still under consideration were either waitlisted or rejected at the final meetings. But I talked to my friend who is a 3rd year and she said that she (and a lot of other people she knows) were accepted during the final excom meetings...and from the last years thread it looks like they call acceptances, email waitlisters, and snail mail rejections...

Last year the final EXCOM meeting took place on Tuesday March 24th, and most people on last year's thread began posting wait list ranks on Friday March 27th. This is purely speculation but perhaps most of us will hear back this Friday or early next week.

Thanks Lieutenant Dan!

Does anyone know if a reinterview hurts you in the admissions process? I interviewed late on 3/15, and because of inappropriate and unethical lines of questioning, the dean granted me a reinterview on 3/16.

Ack, the suspense of waiting is nauseating! Good luck to everyone still waiting!

There was a poster a while back who had two interviews because of a "divergence of opinions" and was accepted after the second interview. I'm not sure if that was a reinterview or something else though.
I don't think a reinterview would hurt you, I think the reason the university offers them is to be as objective as possible in the interview process. With being interviewed by only three people the interviews can be quite subjective, and because of this many schools are switching to the multiple mini interview system where you are interviewed by around ten people.
With that in mind, I believe that UW has the reinterview system in place as a tool should you feel your interviewers did not give you a fair shot. Provided that you gave the second interviewers a better impression the university would certainly take that into account and it would definitely work in your favor.

Hope this takes some of the edge off as they deliberate...

I say this with ambivalence towards those of you still waiting, but for me the torturous wait is finally over. I got an acceptance phone call from my excom member about an hour ago! Thank GOODNESS I can finally relax for the first time in YEARS. *deep exhale*

Good Luck to everyone!!

Congrats! Wow, late phone call! Crossing my fingers for a phone call in the next couple of days!

Hmm... I guess I should've asked for another interview. Too late now.

the waiting has come to an end....I got a call from Dr. Teitz this morning letting me know that I have been accepted!! OMG I am beyond excited, super humbled by this opportunity, and extremely proud of myself & everyone else going through the process. It has been a tough road, but dedication and perseverance pay off! My dream has come true. 😀🙂😍

good luck to those still waiting. don't lose hope 🙂

Congrats Latinabelle and DrLuv!

For those of still waiting, it looks like we should find out soon. Good luck!

Latinabelle and DrLuv:
Congrats! Did your online status change? Did you get an email yet? Thanks!

no email or change in my status yet. It will probably take a few days for me to get my package since I am in Georgia.

No packet, everything is paperless with UW (or has been thus far) except, of course, the residency verification, paying the secondary fee, and probably a few other things I don't remember.

Hope to see you in the Fall!

I was told to expect the official email in a few days time. I can only assume it's because they're so busy with the ongoing selection process. I'd love to at least see a change in my status because I'm worried I may have hallucinated the whole thing!! 😛

can I ask when you guys interviewed? just wondering if they are doing this review sequentially or in some other order...

I received a phone call last night as well, I interviewed Feb 3rd. Good luck to everyone!!!

It might be in the order of the excom member that applicants had. Can those that were called say who their excom person was?

congrats! Hopefully they make another round of phone calls tonight!

Dr. Moore. Although I don't know if there is any "order" to any of it.

Dr. Schneeweiss called and I interviewed 12/1.

I interviewed with Dr. Teitz on 2/23 and I got a call from her this morning. She said they were going to be in ex-comm meetings all week.

Thanks Lieutenant Dan!

I interviewed on 3/15 too! I'm trying to guess what "inappropriate and unethical lines of questioning" really means.

Dr. Scott and Dr. Bamford interviewed me. Who did you have?

Anyway, hope the second one went well. Good luck!

Dr. Scott and Dr. Bamford were my first interview on the 15th too!

It was horrible. I told some people in AFERM who approached Dr. Teitz on my behalf, and she agreed and granted me a reinterview the following morning.

My second interview the following day was much better, although anything in comparison was better. Did anyone else have a bad interview experience?

wow that does sound brutal!! and I thought my interview went poorly!

my experience wasn't nearly as bad as yours though, I just had some difficulty in the role play (not really what I was expecting) and apparently someone on my panel was concerned about how much compassion I had for the patient. Which really sucks, because I love patients!! lol

persevere, you might want to edit that out...admissions people check this board sometimes

This is the last excomm mtg for this year's application cycle! I am so looking forward on tomorrow's results! Goodluck SDNers!! We are such a trooper

So the bottom line is that if you dont get a call today or tomorrow, then you've either been waitlisted or you've been rejected! :eyebrow:

Anybody know of someone who got a call last night or this morning?
I'd love to know the method behind these final meetings...

Lol...I had the same question on my mind. I hadn't been thinking of sdn until today in the morning, and then I remembered that today was the last day for the excom meeting.

I'm on the east coast and so I had to wait till noon here for the west coast people to get into their offices... and have had my fingers crossed ever since... 😛

Last year, people were receiving status page updates around this time (the second day of ExComm meetings). "Action taken..." without email notification generally means rejection. I believe the waitlist ranks are emailed after the final meeeting, after they have a chance to tally up the scores.

tally up the scores?? what does that mean? like the interview scores, or does the committee score us?

As far as I understand it, each applicant receives scores based on their application and interview. I believe a certain minimum is set for automatic rejection/acceptance. Any applicant in between those values will remain under consideration until they conclude interviews. At the end, the applicants are ranked and the list is created. A new lower limit is set for the last ranked position. All applicants below this are rejected. Most schools do it this way.

So why do they need to have meetings for 3 days then? if it's just a numbers game it doesn't seem like they even need to deliberate on anything. I was under the impression that starting this year they were changing up the admissions process so it wasn't as based on scores, especially grades and mcats...maybe that's not true at this point in the process anymore though...

Here is what I have gatherd thus far: The scores are a collaborative effort. Your ExComm advocate and the other interviewers generate a "report" based on the interview. The advocate then presents your file to the board, during the ExComm meetings.

It is almost 6 now. Oh my, I am so nervous! I'll stay close to our home phone at this moment.

What time do I take my eyes off of my phone? In other words, how late did the other acceptances get a call?

Is that confirmed? Were there no calls this evening after the final excom meeting? Why would they delay the inevitable?

One person recently said they got an acceptance call around 9 pm, I believe that was Tuesday. Probably no calls tonight but I wouldnt rule it out.

Yeah, sounds like 3 people on SDN got accepted after the first day of the final meeting (Tuesday)...but no news on decisions of any sort since then 😕

Are we to expect a status change tomorrow? I am so anxious to open the SOMAS website tomorrow.

Have previously accepted people (DrLuv, latinabelle, etc) gotten any status update or email yet?
:bang: This wait is frustrating.

Long time lurker first time poster here. Got a call from Dr. Teitz on the morning of 3/24 and I interviewed in early February. No e-mail yet. I'm actually still in disbelief but I guess it'll settle in once I receive that e-mail 🙂.

As a re-applicant I fully understand the feeling of anxiety, and I hope things turn out well for those still waiting.
