All of you people out there complaining about residency verification...
I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!!!! It is driving me nuts, as it was one of the most irritating things to fill out, and now I heard that the Montana residency verification person isn't even looking at them yet, and won't until Sept. or later. Oh well.
On the plus side, I worked for the Montana WWAMI director this summer, and he gave me some interview pointers if I ever get to that point. He said that once you get an interview, they put away all of your other application materials and it is just your interview from there. He said that the most important things for you to know are as follows:
1. Know about the school. You should know why you want to go there, the curriculum setup, maybe a little history, but especially why you are applying.
2. Know the healthcare topics. This is a much harder one, because it feels like it changes daily. You should know the major healthcare "fixes" that are up in Congress, and the pros and cons of each. He did tell me that you don't need to have a particular opinion, you just need to have facts to support whatever you decide. He told me that it is even okay to not have an opinion, maybe even better, but you still need to know the issues backwards and forwards.
I hope I get an invite back! It is hard enough to pay for med school, and MT students really only have UW if we want to go for as cheap as possible.
