Rejected today!
OOS, 3.97 GPA and 39S MCAT. They requested a secondary on 8/31; complete on 9/14. I hope my $35 dollars went to good use...
At least it was a lower fee than most other schools, and it was cool to at least be looked at closely by the nation's top PC school. Although if my stats don't get me an OOS interview, I'd be interested to see what does. That's one plane ticket I don't have to buy!

The average age of their entering class is religiously much higher than the rest of the country; often older than 25.
Just speculation, but I bet older OOS applicants will have better luck
This is largely due to their focus on life experience when selecting their classes. I've heard they're particularly fond of people who've had previous careers, particularly in nursing and other health care fields.
If a tradition applicant had already made something of themselves by the time they applied, I should think they'd have no problem picking, or at least considering them.
I got the same thing with nearly identical stats. It seems they've raised the bar for OOS applicants this year.Rejected 🙁
34R/3.85ish *sigh* Would have loved to have gone to school in Seattle
Not even a friggin secondary request!
Can anyone tell me if UW has a free clinic?
they have a number of family medicine clerkship sites and parter with local CHCs like Country Doctor, 45th Street Clinic and Seamar. the department of family medicine has links and more info. also, there are a bunch of rural clinics throughout WA, MT, ID, AK, and WY.
Hey, I'm an in state applicant waiting to hear about an interview and since I know every school does it differently, how were those of you who have gotten interview requests notified?
hey,Can anyone tell me if UW has a free clinic?
how long did it take for your file to be marked complete after your letters were sent?
i completed my app on 7/12, letters sent 9/15 and my file is still marked as incomplete.
anyone else in a similar place?
maybe this is just UW hating on some oos applicant?
Eh, doubt it.
I sent my app (with letters automatically sent via AMCAS) in at the beginning of August. Even having had to go through the in-state verification process, I was complete on 8/19. You really need to give them a call to see what the deal is, because that's quite unusual even for an OOS applicant. Then again, maybe they've just gotten bogged down in apps...
I wish the other WWAMI states could interview this early! I am from AK and we don't interview until the week of Feb. 22nd!
WWAMI state applicants really DON'T compete against fewer applicants; it is basically a 3:1 applicant/position over the past few years. You can argue "quality" of applicants but not quantitiy.
Rejected yesterday. Not enough life experience. I think maybe they balked at my being only 20 years old. Oh well...time to start studying for the MCAT again and try again next year.

Sorry andkia... definitely keep trying! This is my third year applying, and the first time I was offered an interveiw. Be persistent, keep gathering great experiences and they will see how determined you are.
Koan, do you think your experience is common? That most people get into UW on their 2nd or 3rd try?
This is my first time interviewing at UW, and I'm not sure if they threw me an invite as a tolken gesture or out of pity or what. It seems like the majority of in-state people get invites, but that the accepted %age is way low, which I'd think would indicate that getting an invite doesn't really mean much?
What was your experience like the first time?
Acceptance!
I am incredibly happy. I received a call today from my Executive Committee Representative (that I interviewed with) and she told me the wonderful news. I can hardly type I'm so excited.
I interviewed on 10/23 and have the other dates (primary, secondary, complete) listed above.
Best of luck to everyone and I can't wait to see you next Fall!
Congrats! I want to be your future classmate! Have you received an email yet?
