Got the rejection status yesterday and the rejection email today. It's over. Not a shocker though.

How do you check your "status"? Do you just call the admissions office? I can't find anything on their website.

In any case, I have to expect that no news is good news!

This is the link I have save in my favorites: https://www.hrfin.wfubmc.edu:8022/p...er=false&IgnoreParamTempl=FolderPath,IsFolder

It looks awfully long though, hopefully that works for you. If not, I believe I got the original link from the complete email they sent me forever ago.

Ah! I just found it in the original email. Thanks so much for your help. Unfortunately, there's no update in my status - just says that I've had an interview scheduled. I was hoping to hear news on a final decision tonight. Again, no news is good news.

Waitlisted interviewed 1/25--kindof surprised....

Hey, don't be all disappointed that you're on the waiting list. I heard (and you can look back on previous posts in this thread) that a ton of people are taken off of the waiting list. I've been waiting since November, for goodness' sake! I'm keeping on waiting, since I still haven't gotten in anywhere yet.

yeah... even in the waitlist letter they said something about 30-50% of the class usually comes from this waitlist. If you buy what everyone's saying about the economy effecting the way people are choosing their schools then I'm guessing it will be closer to 50% since Wake Forest is pretty expensive.

I just got waitlisted and am thinking about withdrawing since I got accepted to ECU and can't imagine paying so much more for Wake Forest.

Either way, don't despair and send them lots and lots and lots of love letters... from what my friends who go there say, Wake Forest LOVES to be wooed (they basically said this in the waitlist letter as well). So start Woo-ing!! Write those LOIs and call them up and send updates like crazy! :luck::luck: Good luck to you all!

A ton of people get off of the waitlist. As can be seen, Wake is very selective with who they interview in the first place. Once you are invited to interview you have a 50% chance of acceptance (either outright or off of the waitlist). A decent number in the current first year class were accepted off of the waitlist, so just hold on and keep sending interest letters and don't give up. Good Luck.

Would sending a LOI pre-interview be pointless at this point in time?

moreover, given that some people have been rejected post-inerview, if youre on the waitlist your chances are likely greater than 50% at this point! But as a re-applicant who has had 9 interviews so far (and one more next week) and not a single acceptance, i dont care how good my chances are... it wont mean **** till i get an acceptance =/

Man, I'm in pretty much the same position. Invited to 9 (attended 8 so far) and I have no acceptances. I'm a reapplicant and its very nerve wracking 😕

rejection via email (and status change) a few days ago. Looks like I was in an interview pool... but wasn't invited. Oh well. Good luck to those still standing and congratulations to those who got in 🙂 WFU sounds like a pretty awesome school!

I'm in the same boat too. Just got the waitlist letter from Wake. Interviewed Feb 1st. I thought I had a great shot there, interviews were short and difficult to make an impression in but still.

I wonder if they have handed out 120 acceptances now, and have to wait until some of them reply before handing out more? In the oft chance that all 100% accept they would be screwed. It looks like from the website that only 50% take a spot if offered one. And I see lots of waitlists from this point on.

Still, I'm a reapplicant, and I've interviewed at 5 places with one to go and haven't heard jack all yet. I would love to hear something, from anywhere, just so I can take a deep breath for the first time since last May...

I swear this process is making me neurotic.

Since it seems the general consensus is to shower WF with love, I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to send an LOI post-interview/pre-decision. I interviewed the second week of Feb., but was told they wouldn't make a decision on me until March 3. Thoughts?

Yes. Wake Forest likes to feel the love. Just be prepared to write another if you get waitlisted (i.e. save some of the good stuff for a second letter if it's needed) Good luck!

Anybody on the post-interview WL moved any? Any idea when it starts to move? I've been on it since December and haven't heard a thing from Wake.

Same. One of the current students at my interview got off it in may, another in july. Might be a bit of a wait...

Accepted off the WL about an hour ago. So it's moving.

Did you write a letter of interest prior to be accepted of waitlist?

Who should LOI be sent to? Your interviewers, the dean, or just to the admissions office in general?

Did you write a letter of interest prior to be accepted of waitlist?

Yes, I wrote a letter of interest, (careful not to imply intent in my wording) once I knew that Wake would be in my top three.

Anyone else just super excited about the meeting this Wednesday?!

Also, for those who interviewed earlier in the cycle - how long should those of us on the chopping block now expect to wait before we hear something? Will the news come via email or snail mail?

Good luck everyone!

PS - Thanks futureNCmed for the LOI advice

For me, there was a meeting on December 16 and I got the results on December 18. It was via email, and my online status was also updated earlier that same day.

Heard the day after my committee day via email, and then the next day again via snail mail. Exact same letter.

I interviewed months ago and haven't been active in this thread since, but I'm just curious: Do they still do the 2 nice, 1 mean interviewer?

I had one really tough interviewer, but I wouldn't say that he was mean. He just asked some really tough questions.

A few of the current students I talked to said that Wake didn't do this at all during their application cycles, but admitted they'd heard of it happening from many interviewees this year. Nobody on our day had any such experience, for what it's worth.

Any idea how often the committee is meeting these days? or when? I saw a post that said today. Anyone heard anything?

I interviewed with a group the second week of February, and we were told then that our fates would be decided at the committee meeting on March 3. This would seem to imply that they don't meet very often, maybe once every 3-4 weeks, but I don't know that for certain.

It seems like they either meet every week or every other week on a Wednesday.

To anyone still waiting for an interview invite, there's still hope. I was invited for an interview today. They wanted a phone call to accept and choose a date or to withdraw the application, presumably so they can get as many "last chance" offers out as possible.

The dates available are: March 5, 10, 11, 17, and 18th.

I know it seems late to be asking. I am going out for an interview this week and was wondering what the interview process at Wake Forest was like. Any advice?

Interviewing Friday the 12th...

Where is everybody staying? They didn't have any students hosts available..

i stayed a local Microtel hotel... got a good rate by going to roomsaver.com. as for the interview, since its very much like speed-dating (15min per interviewer x 3 interviewers), they'll ask you some necessary questions, but be ready to lead the discussion in a direction that allows you to cover whatever you need to say because the time goes by so fast.

Yea, I really didn't like the interviews here. They are more like 10 minutes each, at least ours were. Speed dating is an excellent comparison. It is really difficult to prove your awesomeness in 10 minutes. After the niceities and small talk, you have enough time to discuss 1 facet of your application and tell them why you like Wake. Thats crucial, and from what I have heard, a lot of what they are looking for, that you really want to go there. Good luck, but you better not take my spot.

When I was there, our interviews were 20 minutes each. While that is pretty short (I spent an hour+ in some interviews at other schools), I actually liked the 20 minute interviews because they kind of all had a specific angle on my application and got to the point. I wish I had more time in a couple of them (as they will literally cut you off mid-sentence when the time is up) but I'm not sure an extra 10-20 minutes would really have helped them get to know me any more substantively.
