Anyone expecting to hear something today?

I wish. I really want to be accepted off the waitlist as soon as possible. I made a decision that if accepted here I would attend. I hate waiting though. I've written about three letters of interests/updates since my interview back in early October. Time for a letter of intent?

Yeah, I have to make a decision where I'm going by April 1st because my fiance has law school/scholarship deadlines, etc. and so I can't afford to wait around on the waitlist here. I wrote a letter explaining my situation and explaining that I will attend if accepted before that date and still I have heard nothing. Any advice out there?

I'd send the intent letter if I were you if you truly are willing to wait around. Looking on last year's WL thread, some didn't get accepted until late may, although, one would hope to be one of those accepted in April. Still, if you mean it, write the letter, however, 3 interests should be communication enough that you are serious about the school. GL

Yeah you're right. I'm thinking an arbitrary date of withdrawal about mid june. And probably a letter of intent after finals. I have to make up my mind though because either way I'll be moving from coast to coast and that is by no means a small move. I know someone who came off the waitlist here in early June.

Anyone accepted know anything about scholarship offers from Wake?

I know that merit based scholarships are awarded to only North Carolina residents. On the other hand, I think that need-based funds can be awarded to both IS/OOS students

im pretty sure it was, i interviewed recently and they said "you will be voted on on 3/17 and then probably hear something in the following week."

If you don't mind me asking, what day (or week if you want to retain some anonymity) did you interview?

Status changed today; I am on the wait list. Seems like that's a pretty typical place to start. I was told when I interviewed (last week of Feb.) that they were meeting on 3/17 to vote. Haven't gotten an email response yet though. Good luck everyone!

Does anyone know how long it typically takes to post decisions on the status page following the decision? I think they told us at the interview date that you get reviewed on XX date (typically a Wednesday) and you should be notified the following week, but it seems like many people hear on the Thursday or Friday following the meeting, is this typical?

being discussed at the adcom meeting today. any idea how soon i will see a status change?

Seeing as the application cycle is winding down, but the thread is still somewhat active, figured now would be a good time to ask this question.

I'll be applying to Wake Forest this summer and it is currently in my top 3 places I'd like to go. I'm curious if all of you have any advice for someone who will be applying this year that you wish you would have known beforehand?

Any forms/due dates/etc. that caught you off guard or weren't explained well?

Any sort of feel for anything that Wake might value more highly than other medical schools?

Any general advice?

Thanks

Call about interview invites...I called them about three days after I submitted my application with an in the area idea, and they offered me an interview over the phone. Many people were put in the top interview pool but they ran out of room. Court them, show them love and interest.

I just called the office. Apparently the committee met last night to make final decisions. It sounds like updates should be given this afternoon or by tomorrow. Good luck, everyone! My fingers, toes, and eyes are crossed harder than ever!

Thanks for the update! I take it that they did not inform you of your status verbally?

Nope. Not for lack of trying. One thing I'm not sure is whether or not we'll hear anything at all if we're to remain on the waitlist.

Okay, so I called again to clarify some things, and now they say that we shouldn't expect a change in status until next week. Sorry for getting everyone's heart rate up.

Also, if you are to remain on the waitlist following the final decisions, you will not receive any notification - so if you're already on the waitlist like me, just keep your fingers crossed for any word at all.

Good luck!

I recall that when applicants were waitlisted in the past, their status indicated that

Yes, but I don't think you'll hear anything if you're already waitlisted. You'll just continue to be waitlisted.

just wait listed at Wake sadly. this is my 5th wait list without an acceptance. this wait is killing me.

I called the admissions office the other day and they said they aren't making the waiting list until May 1st, so if you're waiting like I am, you probably won't hear anything till at least May. I did see in an earlier post that someone got accepted off the waiting list, but it sounds like those are special circumstances.

Sorry if I am just ignorant, but what do you mean by making the waiting list? Haven't tons of people been waitlisted already?

It's fine. When you're on the waiting list, they rank the people so that when a seat opens, then #1 on the waiting list gets the spot. With rolling admissions and stuff and them constantly adding people to the list, they're waiting till May 1 before assigning people spots on the waiting list. I've been waiting since October, and I'd like to get off the waiting list too, but there isn't much movement going on until around May 15th when people can only hold onto one acceptance.

I really wish they didn't tell us that we are under active review if that is not the case. I wish they were a little more straightforward. I have called a couple of times and have been told that you could be bumped and accepted at any time, however, it appears as though they have told you something quite different. I too have been on the waitlist since October and wish that they could make up their minds earlier rather than later, but I understand the need to wait. I just wish they would actually be clear and tell us that we'll have to wait until May if that's the case. Hearing this news several months ago would have been greatly helpful. Why would they tell people different things? and be vague at that?

Hey guys, just got me first acceptance in 3 cycles; can't believe the feeling of relief and excitement I have. Moving from WA to NC. Best of luck to everyone else out there. Perseverence does pay off. Keep working at it!

Just recently withdrew my application. Hope this opens up a spot for one of you. Don't fret about being on the waitlist. I was put on the waitlist too and was accepted about a month later. Good Luck!

Congrats! I'll be making the same move if I can get off the waitlist.

I'm sorry, I guess I misunderstood. It's May 1st when you can find out your general position on the waitlist. Otherwise, it's just waiting and not being sure of where you are on the waiting list. It's still waiting, but at least by then you get a better idea of how long or whatever.

Does anyone know how they determine the order of the waitlist? I've been waitlisted for almost five months now, so I'm thinking they've probably forgotten all about me...

According to this poster, we should get more information on May 1st.

I was waitlisted in March. Do you think it's too late to write a letter of intent? I have been accepted to other schools, but I am very drawn to Wake and would go there if accepted.

To whom do I address the letter?
Did they give any details as to what they expect?

I have been sending my LOI via email to the admissions office email address ([email protected]). Irene Tise has been very quick and considerate to respond with a confirmation that it has been received and noted to my file.

Good luck!

Who do I address it to? do I send it as an attachment?

I addressed it simply as "WFUSOM:". I sent it as the body of the email.

Just withdrew my acceptance. . .another spot opened up for you guys!

You're a saint! Congrats on all of your success this cycle! Hopefully the waitlist will get to me eventually.

Who here is hoping to get in off Wake's waitlist? And does anyone know of anyone that has heard something?

I would love to get in off the waitlist. I suppose that if we haven't heard anything by mid-May, our chances drop dramatically.

Has anyone received their financial aid decisions?

Why do you think this? If anything, there will be tons more waitlist movement after May 15 because everyone will be forced to only hold one acceptance...

I do know someone who recently got off the WL at WF. I hope I do too before June. Already sent them four love letters and have nothing more to say...

I believe that Wake Forest actually requires their students to commit by May 1st.

This is the thread that last year's Wake Forest hopefuls used to speculate on waitlist movement. It looks like the acceptances started to trickle in at this time last year, with a few more in early May, and several more after May 15. Even though the deposit is non-refundable after May 1, it seems like many accepted students waited to withdraw until the national deadline of May 15.

It's encouraging though - several of the posters made it off of the waitlist!!
