As far as the UP goes, you're not going to get a phone call unless you come off a wait list later on in the season. What you will get is an iapply notice sometime in the near future, if your application has been decided on already.

It's ok. We're huge fans of puns at Case, just so you know. I mean, our school name is so punnable that we can't help but like puns. Who's up for a competition for the best puns involving the word "Case"? I'll start:

Uhhh, so am I dumb for planning on taking the Ohio Connection? My flight is getting in at 8:30pm on a Saturday and I'm going to the Guesthouse. It seemed like it would be easier than figuring out the bus/train system (I'm lazy), but now I'm not so sure if it's worth $25 since the train is so cheap. Is it pretty easy to figure out public transportation from the airport to the Guesthouse after dark?

No, I would take Ohio Connection since it's probably going to be like 9:30 by the time you get to University Circle. Definitely worth spending the extra money to be safe. 👍

Hey guys, I'm trying to book my flight now and I'm wondering if I should book a 6:00 flight or a 8:45 flight to go back home. I know the invite said that the day will be over by 4pm but would the 6pm flight be cutting it close?

Definitely doable, even for CCLCM, and our interview day is the longer one. You can skip the wrap-up session at the end just to be safe.

2. Congrats CCLCMer! (And btw I didn't know YOU were a she until like a month before I got here ) I'm super curious - how does the residency application process compare to the whole MCAT/AMCAS cycle thing? In terms of nervousness/excitement/forcing-yourself-to-be-patient?

Applying to residency is like applying to med school on steroids. The whole app season is compressed into about half the time. We turn in ERAS in September, interviews run from November through January, and the whole show is over by mid-February when you submit your rank list. So I WOULD be more patient, but I really don't have the time. Not that it stops me from checking the interview invite thread on SDN obsessively.

My schedule: I submitted my app a week after ERAS opened, started getting invites a week after that (mid-September), and have gotten at least one invite per week since then. (One glorious week I got four of them!) The Dean's Letter goes out on Nov. 1, and I expect to get a landslide of emails the first week of Nov. (both invites and rejections), because a lot of programs wait until November to decide whether to invite you.

As far as CCLCM goes, you WILL get a phone call, but it won't come before mid-December at the soonest. Definitely don't hold your breathe for us!

FYI: I'm currently a first year here in the University Program so if you have any questions about Case, medical school, the insanity that is applying to medical school, just let me know. I applied to med school while living in South America on foreign term, which certainly did not help me to get all my applications completed in a timely fashion, haha (more on this story in future posts). Therefore I can personally comment on the fact that Case Admissions is very judicious in the amount of acceptances that they give out in each "round." That being said, don't give up on Case or any other school if you are waitlisted, especially if said school is your "dream school."

Ok, enough being sappy and such . I remember being obsessed with SDN while applying to med school, here's to rekindling the obsession as a means of procrastination!

And yes, in between lectures I saw someone else from our class on SDN today and it completely inspired me to jump back on the bandwagon and contribute to the procrastination of everyone involved, medical students and applicants alike .
