I called to check my status and it seems like I have been placed on hold-for an interview invite for both CP and UP. I'm sad...but at least I was not rejecte outright. I think I will write a letter of intent to show them how serious I am about Case and hope that I get an invite next time they review me.

I was rejected by UP but placed on hold w the CP too, complete in july. I sent an application update about a month ago. Would a letter of Intent be helpful and would it be too soon to send one?
Heres hoping for some love 🙂

Did they specifically tell you you were on a pre-interview hold? Maybe I should call, seeing as it's been 2 months and no word from UP. Idk though. Kind of scared (of bad news).

Yes, on my status page it doesn't say anything except that I've been complete for quite a while. The admissions lady told me that I had been reviewed recently and placed on a hold for an interview.
You should call to at least know where you are. They were super nice and very helpful.

Unlike many more commonly diagnosable clinical syndromes, restless fists syndrome (RFS) is not debilitating to the patient himself, but rather to those unfortunate enough to be standing around him. Great care and adequate shielding may be required for a definitive diagnosis.

interview invites to both CP and UP today.. the problem is when to go.. there aren't many dates left on the calender and its so hard to get to cleveland. what is the best way to get to cleveland? other than airplane (so expensive!). is there a train or something that i can take (from ny state)? thanks
 
Look into megabus too...I hear it can be quite a positive experience...

I am...err...not at a computer...but checl out there is a spur of amtrak from cleveland to chicago and I suspect it continues eastward into PA and beyond

Amtrak does indeed run to Cleveland, but at some pretty weird times. Greyhound definitely does run into the city at times when people are actually normally waking. Megabus may run here, but the options are somewhat limited, last time I checked.
 
interviewed here today! wasn't bad. i was told that this would be the most laid back interview i would have though, and now i'm scared!
 
To the Case students out there....

What is your favorite/least favorite part about Case? I was accepted 10/16 and I want to start narrowing down the choices. Thanks everybody! 🙂
 
Pre interview rejection. 36/3.6. Likely because I don't have much research background. Or my GPA?

No, and yes. I've already told you guys: letters of intent are only useful if you're on the waitlist in the spring, not if you're trying to convince the school to give you an interview! For now, the best thing to do is to send them updates of your application if you have them. So for example, fall grades, new awards, new ECs, etc.

Speaking in general about Case (i.e., across programs), my favorite thing about Case is the sense of camaraderie that we have. You can't plan eggplant parties with just anyone. (Speaking of which, hey, Case peeps, I need to know what all of you guys are bringing. We do NOT want to risk a repetitive eggplant dish incident. Myuu has exams, so she's bringing the drinks.)

The thing that is annoying me the most right now is more CCLCM-specific, and it's that our transcripts are so bizarre. I mean, ok, our school is P/F, which is all well and good. So why can't we just get P's on our transcript? Because that would be too easy. Instead, I have a bunch of M's from third year. M means "meets expectations." Well, not only does no one outside of CCLCM know what M stands for, but even worse, this system was changed mid-stream, and my fourth year grades are AE's. I emailed the registrar today to ask him what AE even means. He said it stands for "achieved expectations," which sounds an awful lot like "meets expectations" to me. Hence making me wonder why this change was necessary, and hence my needing to pester the registrar so that I can answer what AE stands for if I'm asked about it at an interview. Not that it can be helped, but since you asked, mgUCD, I thought that I might as well get in a little gratuitous griping from the CCLCM side. :d

Ok, what other questions do you guys have that I can answer at 2:30 in the morning? None? Good. I'm going to bed. Nighty-night. 😴

I'll take the risk of asking what might be a stupid question, because I'm really curious about this. What's with the eggplant?

OK so I just called the admissions office.* The woman told me that I am complete but was not sure if I had been reviewed. She said that she would poke somone and let them now my app is complete and that if I don't hear back within a week, to call her again. She was very nice.

*I've been complete since 8/26 with no word.

FYI, we have entered the windy season here in Cleveland. Granted, a lot of that is due to the giant system sitting over the midwest at present, but it does remain windy throughout the winter. Please plan accordingly!

You guys are experiencing the same vortex of windy rainy doom that we've got here in MN? Well, I still take solace in the fact that in Cleveland the average low in January is 18 degrees, not 4 like it is in Minneapolis. If I end up going to Case I might go a little crazy and leave most of my long underwear in MN!

I wanted to know a little bit more about the thesis requirement for the University Track Program. Is it based on original research? And if so does it have to be benchwork, or can it be clinical?
