BOOYAA!!!! (top post, and I'm not even a student.... yet)
Thanks! Yeah i imagine only accepting 32 applicants makes it tough.Mister vince, vince, vincent, vinny? Doctor vince? Someday?
CCLCM will notify the first acceptees around mid-december. Remember, our program cannot rely on stats to "over accept" since there are literally only 32 spots. Therefore there will be likely a dozen-ish accepted on that date. Applicants who interview ahead of that first full adcom will be considered. There will be two further meetings later in the cycle
Hope this helps.

I'm interviewing for the college track on Monday 11/01!
Cool beans! Ill swing by and say "Hi". I enjoy meeting the SDN people who show up.

Well, it is more than 32 over the course of the year. Some will decline ahead of the traffic date (which is early for both programs) and then the spots will be offered to others. Think it is around 45ish who will be accepted before the first day of school.

Come'on CWRU, I know someone who got in with a lower MCAT than me.
I'm pretty sure he had a zero.Lower than a 3? 😉

I got an e-mail from Case regarding a recent status update for the UP, but my status page has not updated yet. Can I infer anything from getting this email? (interview, rejection, or hold)
Excellent! I'll be wearing a charcoal gray suit and a navy blue/burgundy striped rep tie.
For the CP?Any clue of how many interview?
Whoa! I'm shocked! 😉Whoa guys get this, I have a real question!
For the scholarships, any clue how many people actually end up receiving scholarships out of those who are invited to apply?
I'm pretty sure he had a zero.
Of course, only a genius could get a zero on the MCAT and CWRU knows that... but I tried... I swear...
Heh. I'm pretty sure I met you (and CCLCMer?) this past Monday.
What's everyone doing for halloween?
a. Getting drunk
b. Dressing up and getting drunk
c. dressing up, getting drunk, and dancing
d. all of the above
Well, CCLCMer and I KNOW we met you... 😛
But sadly, I don't know which one you were. I looked for Trogdor the Burninator, but there where no dragon-men or peasants on fire there.
Not sent from my cell phone 😏
b. also beer pong. I'm going as Belle from Beauty and the Beast.
I try not to burninate anyone in a professional setting.
I think I was the only interviewee wearing a skirt that day 😛
😏 Hmmm, I'm thinking Walt Disney wouldn't have approved 😏
What I took away from tonight, in short,is that Case is moving-and-shaking and I agree that it is possibly the most under-rated medical school in the US. Mark my words.

Just because we aren't high-strung and uber-full-of-ourselves doesn't mean we aren't damn good students. I'm proud of my school and it is the THE med school I wanted to attend.
vc7777 gave an excellent summary. The awesomest thing about eggplant is that this is now the second running year of the joke. 👍I'll take the risk of asking what might be a stupid question, because I'm really curious about this. What's with the eggplant?
Be careful--it's heavy. You guys are neglecting your thread! I had to drag it up from the second page ALL BY MYSELF
So exactly how bad ARE the winters in MN, anyway? Inquiring minds who are applying to residency programs in MN want to know. You guys are experiencing the same vortex of windy rainy doom that we've got here in MN? Well, I still take solace in the fact that in Cleveland the average low in January is 18 degrees, not 4 like it is in Minneapolis. If I end up going to Case I might go a little crazy and leave most of my long underwear in MN!
I'm not sure about the entire gamut of UP research, but I can tell you that clinical research is definitely possible for them. There have been several UP students working with the group where I'm doing the thesis work for my clinical research MS.I wanted to know a little bit more about the thesis requirement for the University Track Program. Is it based on original research? And if so does it have to be benchwork, or can it be clinical?
Well played. 👍BOOYAA!!!! (top post, and I'm not even a student.... yet)
You did. Like I said, I tend to stick out as soon as I say, "I'm a fifth year." 😀Heh. I'm pretty sure I met you (and CCLCMer?) this past Monday.
As I recall, you are not entitled to partake of said activities. What's everyone doing for halloween?
a. Getting drunk
b. Dressing up and getting drunk

OMG. What did they spike your wine with tonight???All I can say is that I made the right choice and am more excited than ever about being part of such an amazing medical school. I look forward to the day I am out "in the real world" and representing MY school.
Heck, we students are all excited to talk to you guys about our school, and why we encourage and welcome all questions! 🙂

Not to bash other medical schools, but don't believe their hype: I firmly believe any CWRU graduate will hold their own out there in residency programs with "the best of the best".
And to the haters out there:

Don't mistake our affable postings on this website as somehow meaning we are not academically up-to-snuff.
To the contrary: I meet people (patients, residents, and faculty even) who are constantly surprised when they find out what sort of academic pedigree my classmates have - and that's in both programs.
Just because we aren't high-strung and uber-full-of-ourselves doesn't mean we aren't damn good students. I'm proud of my school and it is the THE med school I wanted to attend.
To you current candidates: We place people into top programs. Period. This school will not hold you back. Period. End of Story.
And finally on a personal note to the The Haters: When I run circles around you in residency I hope that fancy diploma is super-absorbent to soak up your tears.
[/Note to Haters]
No offense, but I hope you don't meet me (unless maybe at second look), because if I'm still a student here next summer, I'm going to be VERY sad. 😛Thanks for that post, vc7777! Even though I didn't apply to CCLCM I think a lot of what you said applies to the whole program. Between you, Myuu, and CCLMer I've gotten such a good impression of Case! Hopefully I'll meet you all in person someday....or at least Myuu since she's on the University track! Second look weekend perhaps? 😀
Some of us have other issues occupying us besides this thread, you know. 😉
Yeah, bend with the knees, and really this thread has a "two-man lift" rating. Be careful.Be careful--it's heavy.
It may have actually been Kool-aid. And I drank it! 😀OMG. What did they spike your wine with tonight???![]()

I wrote a letter of intent, but that was in the spring after they created the waitlist (which I was on). My letter was on fire, and I would like to think it helped. Other than that, I'm not sure how they see it. But I don't think it would hurt - as long as it's compelling. Just not yet. Give them time, do it around when they start considering your app again, for max effect. You aren't on the waitlist. They'll look at your app again in March and you still have a good chance of getting in.
I don't know about a letter of interest. You'll have to ask one of the baller Case students around here. They know their stuff.
Now that you brought up the numbers, what do the Case students think about the class size? It seems a little large doesn't it? How does that play into getting quality educational time and focus during classes?
Step in Auriga:No, I don't think it's particularly large. Keep in mind that the 199 number includes all three Case programs (UP, CCLCM, and MSTP). CCLCM has 32 students of the 199, and our classes are completely separate from the other two programs during the first two years. Completely separate as in, not even on the same campus. (We take ours at CCF.) So now you're talking about 167 students who do their preclinical coursework at the Case campus. Of those, another 8-10 or so students per year are MSTP. So that leaves 150-something UP students per year, which is a pretty average class size for a medical school.
I can't speak to the particulars of the quality or focus of UP classes, so I'll leave that question for one of them to answer.
<3 Public Health <3I have a question! How does the public health aspect factor into the UP curriculum? I haven't seen a school that tries to integrate public health to that extent, so am looking for more info on what that's like, how it changes the opportunities for the students, what that extra information comes at the cost of (if it does), etc etc?
Also I noticed CP stressed that it offered clinical interaction with patients during the first semester. How does the clinical component of UP differ or compare?
Send 'em! Mine were a week or so later. Better than nothing, and I feel they are a part of the interview process.I am really disappointed in myself since I don't think the interview went well.
My interviewer asked some tough questions.
The students were all very sweet though, and I loved the School!
I was also very impressed with the curriculum that has so much
group interaction!
Crossing my fingers!
Anyways, I wanted to ask about thank you letters!
It has been about a week since the interview, and I have yet to send them since midterms ran me over.
Do you think it is too late to send them?
Thank you!!!
This is also valuable lab/research experience. Illuminate your involvement, the experience you gained, and how you felt about it and how that has impacted your life in one way or another. Their focus on research is not limited to published papers, etc. Not all of my classmates were involved in research much at all, even.I've been trying to write the optional scholarly essay, but I'm not sure how/if I should.
I've participated in research by recording data, but I haven't had a project of my own. I do "technician" kind of work. Not sure it counts with regard to the essay prompt.
Can I get some guidance on this?
thanks
Today I drove around a graveyard for like an hour - it's one of the most beautiful park-like places I've ever been. The autumn trees are breathtaking. I love biking in the parks. It's superpretty!1) Bump lol
2) What is Cleveland like for outdoor activities? What is the situation like for camping, fishing, hiking, mountain biking etc.? Are there good resources for those activities within acceptable driving distance?
I know the lake is right there for fishing, but what about rivers / creeks?
Excellent and very "you" ;3Ouch. That's low...you couldn't just be gracious and let me be happy for a couple of days, could you? :'(
You mean LIKE THIS:![]()
OR THIS:![]()
I like #2 better, don't you?
I applied fairly late. My AMCAS app was complete in September, but my letters of rec and essays weren't ready until like November.Does anyone know when Case stops interviewing? Is it too late to apply now?
See above. I find it amazing and am so happy I chose to come here.To the Case students out there....
What is your favorite/least favorite part about Case? I was accepted 10/16 and I want to start narrowing down the choices. Thanks everybody!![]()
You opened a bag of worms! Eggplant is.....this will take a while. I will post on this later.I'll take the risk of asking what might be a stupid question, because I'm really curious about this. What's with the eggplant?
Anecdote: a fan was down in the med building today. The hallways were a wind tunnel, and papers went everywhere. I found it rather hauntingly awesome haha and no worries, it didn't affect the exam rooms.FYI, we have entered the windy season here in Cleveland. Granted, a lot of that is due to the giant system sitting over the midwest at present, but it does remain windy throughout the winter. Please plan accordingly!
nope! a lot of ppl do clinical.Hey,
I wanted to know a little bit more about the thesis requirement for the University Track Program. Is it based on original research? And if so does it have to be benchwork, or can it be clinical?
Thanks!
I mirror your sentiments, and they hold super true. Even better than I thought 😀aaaaaaand these are all the reasons that come decision time, I have a feeling Case is the school I'll choose to attend.
Speaking as an applicant to the University track (well, acceptee now!), there was something about Case that I just can't put into words. I honestly get chills just thinking about it (good chills!). The students had such an amazing energy and a true love of the curriculum and course material. There was none of that "well I guess this is just what I'm gonna have to push through to be a doctor" vibe. Everyone really loved the process of learning.
Thanks for that post, vc7777! Even though I didn't apply to CCLCM I think a lot of what you said applies to the whole program. Between you, Myuu, and CCLMer I've gotten such a good impression of Case! Hopefully I'll meet you all in person someday....or at least Myuu since she's on the University track! Second look weekend perhaps?![]()
Party door is always open.Interview invitations for both University and College Tracks!!! I'm unbelievably excited right now. Does this mean I can join the party that is the Case-forum??![]()
CONGRATS!! See pm ^_^Since Acoustic brings up significant others, I thought I'd ask a question that's been weighing on my mind for a bit...
Case is definitely one of my top choices if not my very top choice, but......Cleveland is a problem. I live with my boyfriend of 3 years and he would love to follow me to medical school, but Cleveland isn't exactly a huge bustling city and he's a little concerned about the career options out there. So I'm wondering (1) how's the job market in Cleveland right now? Boyfriend is specifically interested in medical device companies...he's a mechanical engineer. Also, (2) Does Case have any career resources for the spouses/sig others of its students?
I love love love Case so much but I also love love love Boyfriend so much and I don't want to have to decide between the two come May!
No, but I should be ><Oh and by the way *bump*!
We were on page two again![]()
Me thinks that everybody on here must be-ing.![]()
haha i didn't read alllll of it... yet. but i read enough for the time being![]()
i did see some familiar youtube videos. the star trek videos made me want to post the following for the people who either received good news or were waiting for it.

Awww...geez Myuu...You have to log on to spoil my teeny tiny victory? Can't you let me have it for a savory brief moment?🙁
Excellent! I'll be wearing a charcoal gray suit and a navy blue/burgundy striped rep tie.
...
AMG my fingers! The giant essay exam today and now this.
BEDTIME! 😴
Haha...fun fact: "rep tie" is a pretty archaic term outside of the UK.
And...we only have one ivy league applicant on Monday.
It's a stretch, but if I was forced to make a wager... 😉
See you Monday!
Yay! Congrats!DONE WITH BLOCK 2 MAJOR EXAMS! (Tomorrow is a practice boards short exam.) WHEEEEEEEEEE I CAN POST AGAIN!
As I recall, you are not entitled to partake of said activities.![]()
LOVE IT! Why do Star Trek montage vids please me so? If you haven't seen the techno Jean Luc Picard yet...do.
Ah, it is not quite 2 weeks since I was legally allowed to imbibe funpoison and I have embraced my newfound identity as yet another of the guys who wants to go to the bar after getting all of our homework done. 🙂 ... it's an expensive habit! I had a sampler tray today that cost kinda... twice as much as I thought it would. good times tho!
BTW... CCLCM still calls to me in my dreams, still ahead of everywhere I've interviewed (maybe tied with one other.. but would definitely win unless unexpected things happen at the other)
