I don't know what I love more, the fact that this exists, or that you actually took a picture of it

Also, I should warn you guys with questions about the university program that both the first and second years are about to hit exam weeks and may be slower to address queries.

Ok, I'm back from my self imposed restriction from SDN. What did I miss? Oh shoot, I have to catch up from page 23. Looks like I have some work ahead of me :smack:

To the Case students out there....

What is your favorite/least favorite part about Case? I was accepted 10/16 and I want to start narrowing down the choices. Thanks everybody! 🙂

Sorry this took so long but here it goes:
Favorite - the small group based curriculum. I had a little exposure to this in college, but it wasn't an integral part of the curriculum like it is here. Not only do you really reinforce the learning objectives by teaching it to your peers, but in case you miss a detail or struggle with a concept, it is virtually guaranteed that someone else in your group can explain it in a way that you can understand and learn from. No matter where you go to school, med school is a general overload of information so it is nice to have 7 or 8 other people working with you to go over the information. This way the likelihood of everyone missing a point or a concept is greatly reduced. Additionally, I think that our small groups really drives me to stay up on the information and learn it as throughly as possible. I think that everyone takes a lot of pride in their preparation for IQ in that they want to be as prepared as possible to help their peers during discussion.

Least Favorite - having a car is highly suggested. While I am within a 20min walk of the med school and a 5 minute walk of the Coventry (bar/restaurant/shop area), it is hard to do grocery shopping and go elsewhere without a car. I don't have a car here at school, but I manage alright since both my first year roommates have cars. This doesn't mean that having a car is a requirement of coming here at all, myself and others manage without, but it will make your life significantly easier.

Keep the good questions coming!👍

Ok, finally caught up. Wooh that took a long time. Alright, with that I think im going to sign off for the night and enjoy the weekend (like everyone else on the Case forum already seems to be doing judging by this ghost house)

Eggplant party! I'm standing outside CCLCMer's Fortress of Solitude awaiting the other Superfriends arrival for an eggplant potluck! Oh there's auriga and myuu! Ttyl :meanie:

Not sent from my cell phone 😏

Muahahha. I successfully infiltrated CCLCMer's Fortress of Solitude!

That's so cool! Arts and medicine program must be paying off? =P

How long have most people been waiting between hearing back from the college program and the university program? (sorry, I know that this can be found in the thread but I'm at work and the thread is 28 PAGES LONG )

CP has not accepted anyone yet. The first round will be accepted around mid-December. Hope this helps?

What I meant to ask was...if you've already heard back from CP regarding an interview invite (or pre-interview rejection), how long has it been taking before one might expect to hear from UP about an interview?

I know that they are separate, but I thought there might be a pattern?

Rejected from the CP 🙁

I'm still under review for the UP and the MSTP, so we'll see what happens...

I'm impressed with Case's philosophy and its programs, so I hope one of them decides to offer me an interview! 🙂

Loved CCLCM, interviews went well, extremely impressed! Hoping for an acceptance in December !!!

From what I remember, it seems like tomorrow (or somewhere close) is another decision day...:xf:

Yeah, i was thinking the same thing. I really liked Case but I am not sure my interview went that well. My interviewer did most of the talking and i never really got a chance to talk about how i would be a good fit for the school.

who was your interviewer? i was in the same situation as you. hour and 15 minute long interview, but he talked for 75% of it. i just sat there trying to look very interested when he talked about his research. i really hope i get in tomorrowww!!!

I think mine were pretty much simultaneous. At least, I don't remember there being a delay.

Hope that helps!

Interview invite for UP! Rejected CP, but interview at UP!! Interview date for December

Congrats! Do you mind if I ask when you received your CP rejection? Just trying to get a sense of a timeframe for interview invites for those who applied to both programs.

Hmm, I may have had the same interviewer as well...though I thought mine was super fun to talk to and that the interview went really well (and I got a few good book recommendations)...but maybe that's just wishful thinking, haha 😛

Wow this thread moves fast!

I am interviewing here next week-- on Tuesday. I have the evening after the interview to bum around and explore Cleveland before I fly off to another interview the following morning. Would you guys suggest I rent a car to explore the area or is public transit convenient?

Anything in Cleveland worth exploring other than the medical school area?

Thanks!

Unless someone else covers all the bases first, I'll get back to you this weekend!:ninja:

Thanks

VC7777, CCLCMer, Auriga for your advice on writing the essay. I wrote it, but on a different experience that completely slipped my mind.

After reading the last few pages, I'm all excited about applying to CW.

Crossing my fingers for an interview. It's a long shot for me--it's my experiences/ref letters that are going to have to do the convincing.

Rejected CP about a month ago (about 2 weeks after complete; no interview invitation); rejected UP today. 🙁 Have/had some USN&WR top ten and top twenty interviews, so still hopeful elsewhere.

I was marked complete mid-August, and I was rejected from the UP during the first week of October. But I still haven't heard anything back from the CP.

So I am wondering if I'm still under consideration for the CP. Based on the FAQ section, it seems that I ought to be under consideration for the CP (even though I was rejected from the UP). Can anyone confirm/deny this?

I also realize that it would be highly improbable that I would land a CP interview after being rejected from the UP -- but I can dream! 🙂

Just got accepted!!!!! No email, i just checked the iApply page. I really feel like this school is the best academic and professional fit for me. My only reservation is the location.

I was going to comment that every time someone posts this everyone probably scrambles to check their status.

I'm glad you did because I just checked mine....accepted! HOLY CRAP.

Also accepted and invited to apply for merit scholarship, yay!!! Everyone seemed so ridiculously happy here I can't help but love the school.

Thanks for the heads up, Vince!

Just checked my status and I am on hold....
I may need to begin thinking about reapplying in a couple of years, which
is depressing!

🙁

ACCEPTED!!! Good deal on the heads up! Man, this is awesome!!!

so i just checked my status and i found out that i am on hold. I'm a little confused: does hold mean that i am on the waitlist now? it seems like no one really has gotten rejected post-interview yet. and if so, what does the alternate list that they talked about in the letter?

I am confused as well!
No one seems to have been rejected post interview.
I think this means that they just put everyone temporarily on hold after the interview.
From the hold pile, they will select people they want to put on the alternate and will reject the rest (I think).
I think this means that a hold is not very good---- since they do reject 2/3 of the applicants after interview, a big chunk of the hold must be a rejection.

Is the invite to apply for the merit scholarship on the initial acceptance letter? Or the Acknowledgment of Acceptance letter? I can't see the second yet.

I got a whole other link on my status page above the acceptance letter...

Could someone from Case comment on this? I have been on hold for a few weeks, and it seems like the definition of this status just keeps getting bleaker and bleaker- is it a bad thing?

If you haven't heard back yet then you are still under consideration. If you haven't heard anything since submission in mid-August, it might be a good idea to call CCLCM admissions and check the status of your application. Sometimes this can help get your application back near the top of the pile for interview consideration. Also, don't count yourself out of the CP just because of your UP decision. The admissions departments make their decisions independently, so don't give up hope! :luck:

Congratulations to all the acceptances! 👍 Keep up letting us know the decision news.

Let me preface this by saying that I am not a native of Cleveland/Ohio, I moved here specifically to come to Case, as did most of my classmates (hint, hint 😛). While Cleveland does get a bad public rep, it really is an enjoyable place to live. As with any school you are seriously considering matriculating to, take some time to check out the school area outside of your interview weekend. You may be surprised what you do and don't like about certain schools/areas when you have more time to experience them.

Let me know if you (or anyone else) has questions about Cleveland, or if you have a more specific question that you want to ask, feel free to PM me. 😎

Hey I was complete on 8/31 and received my decision from both programs on the same day. I had previously called last week and asked about my status and I was on hold for both programs and they gave me an interview for one and rejection for the other. Even though I am sad about the CP I am sooo over the top happy about my interview that is coming up.:soexcited:

I encourage anyone that has not heard back and was complete in august or early september to give a call the admissions is super nice! I was told about my hold even though it was not reflected on my status page. Hope you hear back Hemichordate!

Ok I've commented on this before and I'll comment again since this thread is 1,000,000,000 pages long:

hold DOES NOT mean rejection. Case is very careful not to front-load acceptances. Those that they don't feel ready to make a decision on go into a pile for re-review in March (that's what the admissions director told us, anyway). If they didn't like you, they'd reject you. Chances are still good!

Also, just because you aren't hearing about people being rejected doesn't mean no one is being rejected yet post-interview. People are a lot less excited to post rejections than acceptances!

:luck: everyone

Oh sorry, by location i didn't actually mean anything bad against Clevelend I just meant i would be farther from friends and family. I actually really liked the University Circle area.
