Hey Lucky,
I emailed the Dartmouth Real Estate Office last week and they said it is $840 for a single in a 4 bedroom/2 Bathroom apartment
If you want a single, it is a little over $1000
A studio is in the $900s
Also, parking is $90 a month

Wow, prices have gone up. That parking is only if you want a covered space. You can get uncovered parking for about $170 per year in the med school lot (3 minute walk away). Since North Park is so expensive, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

I was wondering if any current Dartmouth students (I'm looking at you, PhysicsNerd) could speak to Dartmouth's avg. USMLE step I scores. I know that there's a TON of misinformation about the scores that appear on SDN compilation lists, and that schools don't like to give the numbers out all that often. There's an SDN forum somewhere that put it at 236. Does that seem about right to you guys? How do Dartmouth people generally feel about the boards? Does the curriculum prepare you well?

I think I addressed this earlier in the thread. You will be prepared well at Dartmouth for the Usmle. That's true at many schools. I studied for 2 weeks and exceeded my target score. The average Step 1 score varies year to year but are typically high 220s to mid 230s. Honestly, how well you do is probably more up to you as a student than it is a function of the med school you go to but the school can make it a bit easier or harder to do well. DMS makes it easier.

During his presentation on my applicant visit day, Andrew Welch said they do reject people who were ranked near the bottom of the list after their interview.
The first 2 terms have a lot more classes going to 3:15 and a few days that go until 5.
How does the pricing compare in Sachem Village?
Do you (or any others) have any specific suggestions for additional housing options? I did some searching through http://www.dartmouthre.com/ and it did not seem like there were many options for 1 BR apartments, at least within the 5 mile range. I think that the proximity to the school is something that would be extremely important to me. Maybe you can offer some insight into this based on your experiences?
Sachem varies. A 2 bedroom can range somewhere from $1000 - 1600 (for newer ones). The newer ones are really nice. They usually send around a list of people looking for housing, so you can find a roommate or even a few roommates and get a house. Others opt to go for craigslist. It's okay to go outside of the school-owned property. For example, just look for apartments in the area.
Real estate listings come out as it becomes available, so check back periodically especially closer to May-June.

I know thi has been adressed before, but honestly what are the chances of getting accepted after getting waitlisted? DMS is one of my top choices! Does almost everyone who doesn't get accepted get waitlisted? Meaning the WL is very long? I would appreciate your input!
Do any current med students have experience using Mac laptops at Dartmouth? I'm buying a new laptop this summer and was considering a Mac but I read that Mac users may experience problems accessing the Electronic Medical Records at the hospital, as well as running the board exams since both require Windows. I'm not a Mac user but I'm under the impression that Macs have an option to boot up in Windows mode?

The one I have has everyone's name on it so I'll wait until they put out a de-identified list. Or if I have a spare hour or two I'll go through and delete names. Suffice it to say that most people were very happy with the match results, as usual. I've opined on this before, but it's very difficult to read a match list and/or compare match lists across schools (I can go into why if you want).
DMS, like most med schools, is afraid of over-enrolling (too many straight acceptances) so in most years there is considerable movement off the waitlist.
I have a Mac and probably half of my class did. It's fine. I'm not sure what you mean by the board exams requiring Windows since you don't use your own computer to take Step 1. You can dual boot Windows and Os X or run Windows as a virtual machine in Os X. I used to have the dual boot feature and I used to have a virtual machine but deleted them both because I have no use for any Windows programs any more.
There's a new EMR (that rolled out in the past couple of weeks) at DHMC. I'm not sure what the compatibility is but I assume that you wouldn't want to use your own computer to connect to the EMR because your computer isn't secure. There are computers there you can use. You'll be fine with a Mac.

Here's a de-identified list. Agree with physicsnerd that most people seem really happy/I wouldn't put too much weight into the list itself.
Each class is really different with where they want to go/what specialty they want to go into. My sense is that Dartmouth will support you with whatever path you'd like to pursue.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. I totally agree that these match lists are tough to interpret, I guess I'm just a bit curious where this year's students ended up.
Interestingly, I recieved a hard copy of this match list from admissions via snail mail on Fri. In terms of post-acceptance correspondence, Dartmouth is really outpacing the other schools I'm looking at.

They reject post-interview. They also typically take a good number of people off the wait list because they under-accept during the cycle.

I'm starting to get the feeling that the e-mail waitlisting or rejecting me ended up in my spam folder and I never checked it and it eventually emptied itself.
I interviewed in late October. It is a good idea to call and ask? I'm afraid I'll sound awfully paranoid over the phone.

I have American citizenship actually. And I think Dartmouth may look at Canadians the same as Americans (can't remember for sure, but I heard a not-insignificant portion of their class every year is Canadian).

They said interviews ended last month (didn't specify the exact date) and that we should be hearing back "very soon, like in the next few weeks". Yeah, gotta love their vague language.
I think they actually mean casual dress. I mean, obviously don't dress in sweats... just dress how a normal person would dress on any given day. You're accepted - relax. Second look is their weekend to try to get you to come to their school. But hey, if you wanna up your look, more power to you.
