Ok, my status officially changed to "on hold for re-review" from "file complete...timely manner" one. Hopefully it'll be followed with an interview invite and not a rejection...I'm starting to hate weekends because on weekdays I can obsessively check my email for good news.

Hahaha me too! Although I'm slowly trying to accept the fact that I won't hear anything on weekends, so I might as well try to relax and do something fun.
 
What kind of pictures are you guys sending? Want to get an idea of how formal it should be.

I sent a passport style photo and I was wearing a nice shirt and tie.

Stats: 33R 3.6sGPA 3.5cGPA
Lots of overseas volunteering and clinical exposure.

I just put on a nice shirt and had my mom take a pic of me against a white background. Formatted it into passport size with 6 of them on a 4x6 template, and went to Walmart to get it printed!
 
Does it really have to be passport style? Or a "creative" picture will do also?
 
I think it would be wise to post a professional photo. When they say passport style, I think they simply mean "front facing, chest up" 2x2...wearing semi-professional attire (dress shirt)
 
Any more interview invites since 7-19 anyone?

interview! my app was received by mail on 7/16, i was notified about being complete yesterday, and got the invite this morning. i guess they really liked something about me

Yes, I think when they stipulated that the picture be a "passport" type photo, what they really meant was "creative", because the intent of this picture is not to put a face to your application file, it is instead to see how creative you are...

I know a guy last year that had a 21L MCAT and 2.5 GPA that got into GW based solely on the artistic content of his photo, it was a tasteful semi-nude in sepia.

I say go for it! Show them your creative side! Who wants to be 'that guy' that follows simple specified tasks?
 
just got an invite for 9/16!! 😀

I was complete 7/15, never got the hold status either
 
Congrats ya'll. It would feel nice to have an interview this early. Still hoping...:xf:
 
I really can't believe they are already sending out interview invites!!! That's crazy!!! I thought it would at least be a few more months until they would tell anyone!!

Anyone who got an interview, would you mind sharing your stats? Just curious 🙂

My picture was not passport style. I just cropped one of me sitting in my backyard.

Stats-33Q, 3.85 cGPA, 3.74 sGPA

In reference to the Hold/Re-Review status:

1. In the past cycles have people been pulled from this group for interviews?
2. Does GW "reject" after receiving a secondary, or do people not getting an immediate interview get this "hold" message?

well looks like im part of the on hold and re-review crowd! I am going to assume that top applicants get the immediate interview request and for the rest of us we just gotta wait

I have a3.74 sGPA and 3.66CGPA and a composite mcaat of 33S

Even though someoen else posted an interview with a 33- mine is a composite so not the same although GW is the only SOM that explicitly says on their website that they take ur best sections and combine them for a composite MCAT!
Anyway interview people- tell us more stats!
 
ughh.. I was complete on 7/6 and have been on "re-review" status ever since.. definitely starting to lose hope now... 🙁
 
the good thing is there does'nt seem to be too many ppl that got this early invite.

its still really early.
 
for those of you with apps on hold, remember that GW gets more applications than any other school in the country. i heard of people last year not getting interviews until february. so don't give up yet!
 
I haven't even been put on hold yet. My status is till just complete...

Interview people, did they email you to check or was it just on your status page?
 
I got an invite yesterday as well, sorry I am a little late posting it. Interview is Sept. 10th, complete July 15th.

I got invited last season in March -- Stay hopeful everyone!

I changed my interview date to the 10th. So that mean i'll be meeting you 🙂

Seems to me a lot of you already turned in your secondary a while back.. makes me anxious haha...

I couldn't find anything on the third question:

"What is your specific interest in the MD Program at GW? What opportunities would you take advantage of as a student here? Why?"

Would any of you mind telling me what you said and your application status?

If you browse their website you can find out about their curriculum and other opportunities offered for students. I did that and found things that really appealed to me to talk about in the essay.

I've been complete since the 15th...no news since.

I'm hoping to mail this tomorrow. I've had this secondary here for too long and need to send it. Been a busy month with moving and all. Wouldn't have been such a big deal if I got this when I was verified, and not minutes after submitting, oh well.

hey how did u guys enter ur answers to the essays, its really annoying typing it in directly... is there another way electronically? txt box perhaps..somehow?

I'm copy and pasting phrases at a time. It is annoying how you can only type on one line and it doesn't carry on to the next.

yea their tech guys suck, why wud they make it like this? oh wells maybe it'll be fun...lol...
 
So for the first question (full-time activities) can we list being a full-time student? I have a part-time job but I guess I shouldn't list that?
