Congrats! 😀

Congratulations to those recently accepted. Good work.

Does anyone know if LLU still does a white coat ceremony and when that is?

lol I interviewed early November, my fear is that they already forgot about me ><

Yep, August 4! It's sometime in the evening, 7:00 or 7:30ish. 👍

I got a letter stating I was placed on the alternate list today. I'm sad, but happy that it's not a rejection. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting and congrats to those of you who were already accepted! 🙂

I am on the same boat here (sigh).. Does anyone know anybody who got off the alternate list last year? I was put in an unranked alternate list, are you the same too? If so, then how do they decide who gets in (if anybody knows)?

Alternate as well. Here's the tickler. My wife has a job offer there, so if I get accepted, SWEET. If not, I will move there anyway, and continue working as an EMT and drop off patients to the hospital of the school I wanted to go to, yet didn't get into. I guess I would have a pod chance getting in the next time

Yes, my the letter said it was an unranked list too.

I was also put on the unranked alternate list. Definitely better than a rejection, but Loma Linda is the only school I truly want to go to...

So how does this work. Don't people have until May 15th to choose a school? So realistically there should be more openings after that, right?

Waitlist here too🙁
Interview jan 27, mcat 32, gpa: 3.7, instate non sda
What are you guys stats? If anyone know how the waitlist work, ler me know!!!

Well I am waitlisted with 3.5 GPA 36MCAT 2years full time EMT instate.

There should be. I know I am on a waitlist for another school and we were told in the weeks after the 15th there should be openings because of people dropping multiple acceptances and then also waitlists at other schools moving causing people to drop acceptances. Good luck! I am pretty sure I will be at Loma next year and I hope to see ya'll there.

I've got my acceptance, but I'm thinking about dropping it.

however, I still want to give LLU a chance. If any of you current students have any arguments for LLUSM, please let me know. Essentially I haven't given it much thought simply because of finances.

So I was wondering... What is student life like at LLU? It seems to me that everyone lives off campus and in that case how do you meet each other and get to know class mates? I'm also not SDA (but am Christian) and was wondering if that makes a difference in terms of me fitting into the environment of LLU and finding a community? Also, I'm from a big city and was wondering what life is like in Loma Linda (since I got the impression of a really small town)? Does anyone have any sort of match list for LLU or have a general idea of what areas of the country LLU students match to? Anything else that makes LLU particularly desirable? I need help!

Class of '07 here, so it's been awhile but I can talk about my experience. Campus isn't huge, and yeah most people live off campus, but you see the same people all the time all day long first two years. Meeting a classmate is as easy as saying, "hello there". I'm nominally SDA, and most of my class wasn't. I don't remember anyone who wasn't SDA having an issue with not being one. Loma Linda itself is small, but I'm sure you saw that it's nestled in the urban sprawl that is Southern California. You don't have downtown apartment building living, but you're close to the beach, the mountains, shopping, food, and all of the cool stuff in LA. My class matched well and all over the country, IIRC three into derm, two in neuro surg, a bunch into ortho, sent someone to UCSF for IM.

I liked it my time there because I liked the southern california lifestyle as a medical student. The people were cool and friendly. The school was super supportive. The basic sciences was the TITS. I was VERY prepared for step I. Clinical science years are awesome because you get to spend time at the University Hospital, VA, and County, all of which are different and good for learning. I thought the resident's were good teachers. I liked the mission emphasis of the school and if you are interested in part or whole in serving the underserved, Loma Linda has that, around the southern california area and as well as mission trips and electives abroad. Cost of living is pretty reasonable for most urban medical school, and can afford your own place without roomies if you want to. Food's good - lots of mom and pop ethic places. Interesting culture, outside of "white folks" - mostly asian (korean and filipino predominantly) and latino (obviously). I'm glad I went there and I'm thinking about going back to do academics when I'm done.

I don't check these threads very often, so if anyone has any questions my PM is wide open - may take me a day or two to get back to you.

Anyone get the news yet? Anyone know about the waitlist movement? please let me know!!!

does anyone know where I can view Loma Linda's latest match list?

Does anyone know if they call the waitlisted people or is it mail/email?

No news from Loma Linda yet??????? No way, the wait is killing me 🙁(

So I tried calling their admissions because although there are a lot of people waitlisted, and I am assuming there are SOME spots open, I have not heard of anyone getting called in off the waitlist. They were closed for the weekend. And I am assuming for memorial day. Sad times

I called them too 🙁 they said no decision on my file yet. Asked them about waitlist movement and they said they cant reveal anything 🙁 Darn 🙁( If youre a 36 Mcater and you havent got off the waitlist, no chance for me then 🙁 I was admitted at 2 other schools already but Loma Linda is THE school 🙁

Withdrew my acceptance this morning. My best to those on the waitlist!

I just called the admissions office today and the office lady I spoke to stated that there has been no movement on the waitlist since May 15th. She wouldn't really tell me anything else but I hope this is good news if we haven't been contacted yet?

As in there's spots open but the committee hasn't met yet? I know a friend of mine and her friend dropped so that's two spots there...

Going to another school now. Spot available!

can anyone tell me if the grading system is pass/fail or letter grades? Also, if they are letter grades what are the cutoffs for honors, pass, etc? Thank you.

It's a pass/marginal pass/fail system. Cutoffs for specific grades vary by class, but generally the difference between pass and marignal pass is at 69%, and the difference between marginal pass and fail is 65%. They started messing around with honors/high pass with our class this past year, but if you got anything above a pass, it just went on your transcript as pass. Honors and whatnot only went toward your rank, or something like that.

thanks for your response. do you have any idea on what the average step 1 scores for students at LLU? I remember on interview day they had the stats for the pass % rate but not the actual median score. Thanks for your help.

It's not an exact science but I have some match data for the most recent graduating class, based on USMLE Step I & II scores. If anybody wants it, shoot me a PM with an email address!

I GOT IN!!!!!!!

I got the call earlier today by Dr. Nyirady, he told me if I wanted to give up my position in Biomedical program for MD... I think the answer was obvious 🙂)))))))))))))))

PTL for sure. Prayers do get answered... Best of luck for those who are still waiting; there is still hope!

One of my friends just got the call this morning! I am in the Biomed program and I hope to meet y'all in a couple months 😉.

Congrats guys....
I dont know if anyone of you feel this way, but the admin people from LLU is not that friendly at all, compared to so many other schools....There is one lady besides Amy that was friendly and she was willing to take down your name to check the status for you. Otherwise, Amy is just....so cold ....and somewhat rude.......completely different from the dean, assistant dean (Ms. Leona), and other people that I had a chance to meet at LLU who are very helpful, friendly and nice....

^My experience was very different. Everyone I have spoken with is extremely friendly and understanding. Amy was very kind to me and would call back to check on everything.

Based on last year, there were movements on June 24th, but I didnt see anyone got accepted last friday 🙁(
Last year, the next round of acceptance was on July 29th....does that mean we have to wait for 1 month ???? and aug 4th is orientation already...I m losing hope

Hi doctorrr, don't lose hope! A cousin of mine was accepted a day before classes began a couple years ago. I'll be praying for you and everyone else.

I just got accepted a few hours ago via phone. I am SO EXCITED!!!!!! Interviewed in March, waitlisted in April. OOS non-SDA but Christian. Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear... I had essentially given up waiting to hear. See you in a month, California!
