Weren't you just making fun of heart attack grill a week ago? 😛

Haha yes, but that's because their burgers will literally kill you... and I was shocked to hear that if you are over 350 lbs, you eat free!! 😱 haha

EDIT: Calls are def. going out today, a really good friend of mine just got in for next year!

Wow. I didn't know a burger could literally kill you unless you choked on it. What do they do put arsenic in it? lol

Oh and congratulations to everyone who got accepted today!!!!!

sigh no call for me . late january interview.
Depression stage now ....

So at this point I am guessing all acceptances are handed out and I am either in the waitlist or rejection stage. sighhhhh.

I feel your pain. but in the past the calls have gone out on monday and tuesday following the meeting as well. so there is still hope before wednesday.

also, at least they are supposed to let us know about wait-list stuff if were not accepted. so well see what happens

Congrats to everyone who got the call yesterday and GL to all those who are still waiting, there is still monday and tuesday

so no more acceptances going out? Anyone with any inside information?

Does anyone have the data with respect to how many people are rejected/waitlisted post interview? Is there decent waitlist movement?

Sigh....I was hoping for a call too from Friday-Tuesday, alas, no call yet. Not sure what will happen. Trying to keep positive though!

Rejected POST-interview here.. kinda shocked I didn't even get on the waitlist but oh well. life goes on, i guess i did bad on the interview.

So sorry to hear that 🙁

Did you get a letter? I've been anxiously checking my mail and phone, I've never been so neurotic

yeah through snail-mail. i wasn't expecting anything until april so it actually blindsided me =/ but at least it came earlier than expected and i didn't need to sweat. best of luck to you tho!

Is the facebook group for c.o. 2015 only having 30 members an indication that there are many spots left for acceptance?

Nah, I think it's because a lot of people don't know about it. I actually just realized that there are two groups for the class of 2015. of course ours have more people cuz we're so much cooler than the others :meanie:

And joojoobee, I'm sorry to hear about the rejection 🙁

I'm sorry to hear about your rejections 🙁

I wish you all the best of luck wherever you choose to go

You should try to get them to collapse theirs and join ours 🙂 The clearly superior group.

lol I am. I actually just joined the group, just biding my time until I rain on their parade muahahaha.

it's a fairly new group though, created only a month ago.

Does anyone know if they're meeting again the 3rd week of April?

Yes, it's happening. I heard that a few last minute interviews are still being handed out too, but it's quickly winding down to waitlist time.

Thanks thedoctor8706 for the info! I loved LLUSM. You are keeping my hope alive that there is still chance for acceptance, even in the 11th hour! Fingers crossed!!! 🙂

Wow their facebook group sent out and email....intense. Is there a way to just merge them?

Hey everybody,
First post here. Interviewed in Jan, still waiting for a decision.. I'm sorry to hear that rejection letters came out already for a couple people, I hope you guys keep the fire burning!

Question: I took the year off and would like to be in school regardless of the decision.. I'm thinking of applying for their Master of Public Health prog, but I'm wondering if I do would it put me in a bad position (like it would seem that I'm not committed for med??) in regards to my med app. I'm pretty sure LLUSM has access to whether my name pops up in another school's program right?

Praying for that april adcom meeting 😳

rejection came in mail, second time applying. At this point I already assumed i was ejected anyways. Congrats to all who got interviewed/accepted!

Does anyone know when was the last time they sent out interview invites? Thanks. 🙂

What's the most efficient way for off campus students go to class? Walk, bus, car, scooter?

To my knowledge, interview invites are all but done. They have in the past sent out a very small amount after March in order to fill spots of those who did not attend their interview, dropped out, etc, but by now chances for more interviews are very slim. 🙁

Depends on where you live. I bike to class every day (takes about 3-4 mins), and there are a lot of places to live within walking distance. If you drive, leave yourself a bit of extra time because traffic is a killer, and it especially jams up in front of the Centennial Complex in the morning, due to the traffic rush/pedestrians constantly crossing Stewart Street to get to Centennial. Also that parking lot fills up real quick. They plan to put another lot in, but who knows when that will happen.

Are they meeting next week or the week after that?

Next week! :luck:

Thank you so much for the info!!!

Hi all! I'm hoping to find a current LLU student on here or even someone who got a lot of info on interview day to enlighten me a little about the school. I interviewed a few weeks ago and really wanted to like the school, but didn't end up with a very good impression. I'm considering withdrawing my app before they make a decision next week but am not 100% sure yet.

On my interview day, there was nothing set up to tell me about the school. I just had my two interviews and then walked around a little bit and went home. There was no one there to give me any info on the school, student life, the facilities, etc and the campus was so empty (on a Thursday!?) that I couldn't even find a lone student walking around to ask questions to. My interviews went great, but both of my interviewers made sure to point out that LLU accepted sub-par applicants and ended up producing good physicians, which basically felt like a dig at me (ie you are nothing remarkable but we might take you anyways and you should be sooo grateful if we do). I was left with so many questions about the school and no one to ask them to.

So I was wondering... What is student life like at LLU? It seems to me that everyone lives off campus and in that case how do you meet each other and get to know class mates? I'm also not SDA (but am Christian) and was wondering if that makes a difference in terms of me fitting into the environment of LLU and finding a community? Also, I'm from a big city and was wondering what life is like in Loma Linda (since I got the impression of a really small town)? Does anyone have any sort of match list for LLU or have a general idea of what areas of the country LLU students match to? Anything else that makes LLU particularly desirable? I need help!

I'm an applicant (accepted) not a current student, but for my interview I was able to stay with a couple of current first year students through their hosting program. Through them I was also able to meet a few other students and even sit in on a couple of classes. There seemed to be a lot of support among students; at least from what I could tell in my short stay and compared to the other schools I interviewed at. For example- clubs for anything you can imagine, off-time activities, and a very active (overly active as I was told) online message board/ list serve for students. They were all friendly towards me at least. As for the city itself, I didn't hear any complaints - it is small but a nice community and close to the rest of Southern California... you won't have a huge amount of extra time anyway 🙂

As for being SDA or not - I'm not SDA myself and only one of the two I stayed with was adventist. There seems to be no favoritism or anything of that kind whatsoever for those who are (which was completely confirmed by the students I talked to). So I really can't imagine that being an issue in any sense - there are a lot of non-adventists on campus. I also sat in on one of the religions courses they have for med students - it was really laid back, felt more like a personal guidance class than a religions course, the students didn't seem to take it too seriously either.

As for match lists, I'm pretty sure Loma Linda doesn't release one publicly - I don't know why they choose not to. From what I understand though, they match across all specialties and parts of the country. I think they're especially known for primary care. That's strange about your interviewers telling you that - I didn't experience anything like it and it seems like a really bad thing to tell prospective students...

So, I hope that helps, as an accepted applicant I'm still trying to decide whether to go to LLU as well. If anybody sees anything totally incorrect in what I said, please feel free to correct me!

Hi thedoctor8706,
Is is really this week? I thought it was every third week of the month? I remember my buddy hearing approximately the following week last year. Thanks!

This Friday actually IS the third Friday of the month. The 1st, the 8th, and then the 15th.

I see. April has 5 Fridays for the month and I was confused as to if April 1 counted as a week. Good luck everyone! I will be praying for each of you.

I asked my 'contact' and he said that the admissions committee is meeting this Thursday and also next Thursday... which means they are either increasing the frequency of acceptance weekends and doing it this Friday and next, or they are meeting twice before the 22nd. Whatever the case, another round is coming up soon. Best of luck to ya'll!

Thanks for taking the time to finding out this information for us! LLU has been been very sincere and gracious throughout this whole process.

Hi everyone,

First time poster. I was accepted at Loma Linda after interviewing in January, and I really enjoyed my time there. I was hoping a first year Loma Linda student could help clarify a few questions I had.

What is a typical first year schedule like? Is it 8-5 every day? Or are most afternoons off? Also, does any current Loma Linda student know of the best way to find a job in Loma Linda that is related with public health?

Well, everyday you will have lecture from 8-12. Every day is different. You won't have anatomy at a set time everyday or physio at another, etc. Rather, classes progress by what system you are studying and subjects rotate around so everything paints one big picture instead of separate classes. Every afternoon is different too. Some days you will have two labs, each running about two hours from 1-5 PM. Some days you will have one, some days none. Like said above, it depends on how the system is progressing or where you are in lecture. The only regular occurrence is EBM small groups on Thursday afternoons. You will never have lab on Friday afternoon.

If anyone is interested, PM me with an email address and I'll send you a detailed copy of the freshman schedule! No viruses, promise 😉 haha

As for finding a job, DON'T. lol. You won't have time. School will be your job and you will barely have time to keep up and throw some fun time/exercise into the mix. Trust me. Unless you are asking for a spouse/family member coming with you, in which case I couldn't give you a solid answer, though I'd ask the school.
