Since the week is over, does that mean I have to wait another month until the next round of acceptances go out? Or do you imagine they call people for a few days after the adcom has their monthly meeting?

Also, people who interviewed in December are going to hear back before those that interviewed mid January... right.... right.... RIGHT!?!?

I am wondering if anyone knows if there will be a guided tour on February 4 interview dates? Is there always a tour? Are interviews with a group of people or is it just one person per interview date?

One of my friends just interviewed and it was one on one with two different school of medicine professors. You have to check in at Coleman Pavilion and then walk to wherever your interviews are, so leave plenty of extra time. I'm not sure if there will be guided tours or not, but if there are none and if you would like, I'm an MS1 here and I could show you around!

If that was the case i would have been in the program by now. i would not disclose the degrees i have, but if only u knew u would say what the heck, u should have been in the program
i still consider the admission commitee absolutely biased, specially if u go to dental school u would see all koreans, why they must have given some money to their university.
i think they are very very biased. they just didnt want to cnsider anything else what i had rather than strictly MCAT scores. i am very glad i am not there, i am doing so well in medical school now. with good grades.

Medical schools look for scholars who can both write and speak clearly. Just a thought.

So does that mean there are two kinds of interviews? Because some interviewees in the previous pages has said that there were guided tours, etc?

Be at the dental school, or at the medical school and you shall find a lot of asian scholars that dont know to speak proper english. i hope u know what i am talking about!!!!

Ignorant statements. LOL! Better than being in a far off Indian medical school who accepts anyone with money and a pulse! lol

If we stop feeding the troll, maybe he'll quietly go away.

I am interested in mailing a Letter of Interest to LLU, but am having a rough time finding an address to the Dean of Admissions. Do they dislike receiving LOI/Updates? If not, to whom should I be directing my letter?

well, i actually called the admissions office today and asked the same exact things. they told me the correct thing to do is to send it to the e-mail : [email protected] then they will put it in your file . good luck to you!

🙂 Hi all! Don't have another Emergency Medicine shift till 11PM Friday night, so I thought I'd say hi. I'm actually a 4th year just finishing up my time at LLU and wanted to check in and see if I could answer any questions for folks.

Oh and if you come to LLU for an interview or what not, you'll likely be seeing me. A few years back, the SDN thread mentioned that at LLU you'd meet a girl named Bob, that's me.

Just let me know if there's anything that I can help you with, whether it's where to live, books to not buy, any of the ins and outs of LLU, questions you might have about the program or whatever. For those interested in going into Surgery I can answer questions specific to that as well.

Again, welcome to all those that are already accepted. I'll find out on March 17th whether we'll be seeing each other around. Best of luck to all the rest!

There are guided tours on the group interview dates. I believe the next one of those is 2/8/11. BUT, just as when I interviewed at LLU, some people will interview on a day that's not a group day and you will not have a guided tour pre-setup. They'll give you a pamphlet to guide you around. Just like the freshman who posted earlier, if you'd like a tour, I'd be more than happy to show you around (if I'm not working). I'm a 4th year and have given many tours over the years, though the freshman know Centennial WAY better. Anyway, enough for now. Let me know when you'll be around and I'll try and swing by and say hi. I'm on EM now and ave two weeks of online Neuro coming, so I'm free.

Hi Ivorytink!

Thanks for helping us out! I was wondering is there a reason behind why some get a guided tour and some don't? There's no huge reason like preferences or something like one is more likely to be accepted than the other?? 😕

I just had my interview last week. My top choice, I hope I get in!

We had group tours which were done by medical students. So all the interviewees were divided up and grouped with a 1st or 2nd year medical student. The groups had 3-5 interviewees.

HEY bob!

you were my tour guide when I was there just last weekend!

Thank you so much for making the experience nice, and answering any questions.

Hi Ivorytink!

I was wondering if you stayed in the dorm as a freshman? I really don't want to, but I'm wondering if it would be easier..

I am going to be interviewing on Tuesday Feb. 8th and I am looking for a last minute hotel. Any ideas from those of you who already interviewed there? The only hotel that appears to be within walking distance is the loma linda inn and the reviews online are quite mixed. People either say the hotel was fine or it was horrible! I'm only going to be staying one night but I would prefer to avoid bed bugs or roaches. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The Loma Linda Inn is no 5-star resort but it's perfect for us interviewees. I stayed there last year. It's simple, clean, quiet and they have a free continental breakfast. Best of all it's only a couple minute walk to the campus. I will be staying there again this year when I interview.

I loved this school. Cant wait to hear back (hopefully at the end of this month!)

This is one of my top three. which are all essentially tied now.

heres hoping for an acceptance.

Well, considering I didn't get the tour and was accepted, that's NOT it. I think the issue is that they have too many applicants too interview everyone on a group day. Today's bunch was so big that they changed the room. Anyway, I wouldn't take it to mean that you won't be accepted, just that you weren't the fastest to book your interview. Maybe?

Hi Ivorytink!

So glad that you asked.

I've actually lived in the women's dorm (KLH)all four years of med school. I even got married bw 3rd and 4th year, but with my husband located in Kansas City and with me matching soon we're continuing to do the distance for a lil longer. The dorm is SSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much cheaper than living off campus and it's convenient. There are no true freshman despite LLU having a few undergrad programs. So it's quiet and nice. I'd recommend it, but get your application in quickly as it fills up fast.

You're welcome AJ. It's always fun to get to know the potential new classes of folk coming in. Glad that you had a good experience and got to find out more about LLU and such. Let me know if you wind up coming here.

God bless,
Bob

I haven't heard anything from Loma Linda at all. What should I do? Are they still interviewing?

I'm in the same boat and was wondering the same thing.

Couple of questions...

1. I realized today that I don't have a LOR from a religious reference. Since I've already had my interview, would it even be worth the effort to get one now?

2. Any idea when the next adcom meeting is? From previous posts and posts from last years thread it seems like its going to be this next Friday. Can anyone confirm?

Thanks

Don't worry, a LOR from a religious reference is not required. Acceptances have typically been on the third Friday of a month, but this year has been anything but normal so far, so don't torture yourself if it doesn't happen then. Good luck.

I so hope that this friday is when they meet, but i have a sneaking feeling that it will be on next friday.

I interviewed in October, any ideas for why I haven't received a rejection/acceptance?!?!

Unfortunately Loma really sucks when it comes to rejections. Their application pile will continuously grow until the very end, and then they usually reject people in huge batches around May-ish. So I hate to say it but keep hope alive and just keep waiting!

On that note, the admissions committee met today. Calls should be going out very soon, maybe tomorrow, maybe next week. Good luck you guys.

^ hey, you got any insight into interview invites? Or are those over with? PLEEEEEEAAAASSEEE?!?!? 😀

Do they call everyone that they accept? Or are some people accepted, not called, and they have to wait to find out until the snail mail acceptance comes?

Yep, all acceptances are calls and only acceptances are calls. Wait list, rejection, etc are snail mail.

OMG you would do that!?!?! Thank you!!! (Be sure to mention to them that they should interview me! 😛)

Haha no problem. One of our anatomy profs is on the admissions committee and he is super chill with answering questions like that.

Be sure to let him know that HalethSonOfHama is a pretty chill guy as well. Already had my interview, but am really hoping for that acceptance. LLU is numero uno in my book.

Is today the day they should be calling?

It sounds like maybe. thedoctor8706 said they met yesterday and might be calling today or next week. Last cycle (January) they made the calls the following Wednesday and Thursday, but the cycle before (December) they made the calls on that Friday. I think they made the calls on that Friday in December because the following week was Christmas break (I think) which may have made it more difficult to make calls. So my best guess would be that we won't hear anything until the middle of next week. Thats not to say that I'm not keeping my hopes up though!

previous years it has been Fridays and Mons. The Weds-Thurs was pretty unusual. Just fyi

Just got acceptance phone call  - interviewed on 2/8, good luck to everyone else waiting for the call.

Anybody know how late in the day they make calls?
I got the call today! They asked me to return the call (I initially received a voice message) before 2 PM pacific time today. I assume that means they won't be making any more calls today, but I could be wrong.

Tman99, I interviewed the same day as you. What was your interesting thing that you shared with the group?

So I just got a call from Dr. Nyirady...but I've been accepted already. It went to voicemail, and he asked me to call him back. I did like two minutes later, but apparently the office is closed.

Has any other accepted students received a second call? I know there was an issue with the first acceptance letter, maybe it's about that?

Well, answer is they send out invites on average through March, sometimes ending earlier, sometimes ending later, so there is still hope for anyone waiting on an interview.

Congrats! And good luck to everyone else still, it usually takes until Monday or Tuesday to finish making calls for one adcom meeting!

Second call from Nyirady usually means there is a scholarship incoming with your name on it. Not a huge one, but $10,000 free monies is very nice. Congrats! And if it's something else (which I highly doubt it is) sorry for misleading you 😳

I am the non-trad student with a wife and 2 kids who's been a high school Chemistry teacher for the last 10 years. How bout you?

Thanks! You were right though, so no misleading here! I kept calling back until someone answered. I would not have been able to make it through the weekend without knowing for sure why I was called.

For the accepted students, did they send you an email as well? I'm on a trip this weekend and can't check my phone messages at home.
