Congratulations to the recent people who have been accepted!! It's looking like a great class!! I was accepted with the last group, also a day earlier than expected, nice 🙂

My interview with the doctor here was HORRENDOUS (I'm talking really, REALLY bad... I was SO awkward) and I just got in. Was 110% sure I would be rejected. I guess you never know about these things...

Haha, same here. Actually my faculty interview was okay but the student interview was beyond horrendous. I'm pretty sure the entire time the guy was thinking, "Holy crap, what an idiot!" I crossed off hopes of an acceptance after that until I received the acceptance e-mail.

Congrats!!

Do any of you have an idea when the next round of interviews are coming out?

ive been small pooled here forever! cmon mcw! 🙁

So, what exactly are the chances of being interviewed after getting small pooled? From previous year's thread it seems like 50% get interviewed, but there were also other numbers mentioned..like 1 in 3 ppl get interviewed.

Sorry if this has already been asked before.

No one knows. Best guess is 50/50. Find my earlier posts for the math.

🙁 Just got a rejection letter (impressed that they send these out via mail):

3.47 GPA
33R MCAT

Just called MCW director of admissions, another batch of invites are coming out soon. It seems like they only give out invites on the first week of each month.

That's great news! I was wondering what was happening-- this thread got really quiet lately.

Sweet. Did you get any feeling for how soon they might be going out?

Awesome! I really hope I'm included in this next batch :xf:
Been swimming in this darn pool for way too long

December interview invites will be sent via email and will be out by the 10th-just got this from the adcom

Hey guys,
I was accepted to MCW about a month ago and I was just wondering if you knew anything about merit scholarships (basically how they are decided and when they are awarded). I know that financial need scholarships/grants don't go out until August or so but I assume that merit scholarships would go out earlier? Any way, if anyone knows something about it I would appreciate the info.

Hey there,

I'm not sure how much help this is, but the fin aid website says that all you have to do is have your parents' input on a form. http://www.mcw.edu/medicalschool/scholarshipinfo.htm#Q6

Like you, my sense is that these sorts of scholarships would go out in the spring (before the May 15th deadline). Good luck and congrats witht the acceptance! Hope you liked your visit.

Justforkicks,

Your acceptance list is amazing! Any reason why you choose MCW vs. all other schools? And have you been happy with your decision so far?

Alot of you other acceptances are similar to mine so I am curious. thx.

Hey there,

Yeah I've loved MCW so far and am definitely happy with my choice! I liked every school at which I interviewed but thought MCW had the complete package. Our med school facilities are nice (and there's a new building coming soon) and the hospitals/clinics are super impressive (and highly ranked if that means anything for you). Plus MCW really knows how to take care of its students. There are tons of social gatherings, dances, free lunches, intramurals, etc...and I think our class gets along really well. I also knew I wanted to do research and I was able to get a paid position in my first choice lab this summer. All in all, I knew this was a great choice for me. If anyone has any questions feel free to post them on here or PM me!

Any chance you are in the pilot curriculum? and Have you only heard good things about the clinical rotations?

I'm leaning towards MCW... and I probably should start a list of questions. Thank you for taking the time to come onto the MCW application thread.

I totally agree with you about MCW. I think the school is not given nearly enough props. I was accepted to MCW as well, but in the end UW had a few more things that were important to me. I have worked with a lot of MCW grads and they all really liked the school.

You'll love it no doubt. On my interview day, at lunch, I sat alone (of course because I didn't know anyone obviously) and within 5 minutes a couple of M2's just walked over and asked me to join them and gave me some cupcakes to boot. No joke. VERY chill student body, beautiful campus, and a PS3 in the rec. room. Who has time to use it I wonder? Probably the grad students

Why did you sit alone? I remember all of the interviewees sittling together with M1s and M2s to talk about the school.

You're welcome for the cupcake by the way. My friends are the ones that hand them out.

I'm actually not in the pilot curriculum but I've obviously heard about it from my classmates who are going through it. I know that they group material in systems (musculoskeletal, etc.) and that it's going well. They get lots of cool clinical experiences by seeing patients with conditions that illustrate concepts learned in class. Plus, they get their iTouch right off the bat and we have to wait until M3!

Thanks for answering all our questions and offering advice Cubssox and Justforkicks! It's really helpful!

I guess this means we can expect some action in the morning. Good luck everyone - I've been pooled since 8/25 and would love a chance to interview here.

I'm so glad someone else posted today, haha.
I was thinking the exact same thing! good luck! and hopefully tomorrow has good news! :luck:

+1 . Though, with the absence of an invite in my inbox today, I am relieved to find these posts. Thank you! Good luck to all you - maybe Monday will be our day🙂

I am relieved too. No invite in inbox either so it's somewhat reassuring to see that we didn't get passed over.

Don't be surprised if nothing comes today...the poster who claims invites are being sent today is the same loser who was making dumb crap like this up earlier in this same thread....just sayin.

That's a good point, especially because it seem like they tend to send invitations early in the week, rather than late.

Okay I will wait for another week 🙁.. GOsh!

Seeing as interviews were today, I doubt they'd have time to be sending out and responding to phone calls for invites today.

Hi all,

I have my interview coming up in January (so excited!) and I had a couple quick questions for those of you who've already interviewed .. I searched the thread, but I don't believe anyone's asked already .. I'd really appreciate any help! Thanks!

1. The Student Host program was already full by the time I called, so I'm going to end up staying somewhere near the school. Has anyone stayed at the Holiday Inn or Radisson they listed, or another place nearby? How was it? How easy/difficult was it to get from there to the school/airport? Any recommendations?

2. How useful was the social event the night before? I'm going to have some issues with transportation since I'm not renting a car, and just wanted to see whether its worth the extra effort to attend.

Thanks for any help 🙂 Btw, anyone else interviewing first week of January?

1. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. It is about 2 miles away from the school, but they have a free shuttle that can take you to the Medical College. You just have to reserve it the night before. I to the Go Airport shuttle to get from the airport to Holiday Inn and it was about $22. If you arrive on Thursday and want to attend the social night, there is a free shuttle that will take you from the airport to the school.

2. I found the social helpful. I feel like we did not get that much time to interact with students during the interview program, so the social was a great way to ask questions. But if you are not sure about your Thursday schedule, it's all right if you don't come. The interview day is pretty informative, they give you so much information about the school and you still get to meet current students during lunch and ask more questions on the tour.

3. Good luck at the interview! 🙂

Don't know about the hotels (as I live close enough to drive) but the social was alright. The interview group size is huge (about 40) so if your day is like mine you will have around 25-30 show up to the social which makes it a little difficult to socialize and meet students on more than a cursory basis. I would go if you have lots of questions for sure, but if you don't you won't get a lot out of it. They show you a nice little video and set up what your interview day will be like so that was nice. Plus your day starts in the same room as the social so I knew exactly where I had to be the next day.

Hello there,

1. I just interviewed on Friday and stayed at the Raddisson. It's a solid place and gets the job done. Definetely not walking distance, you'll need a car. However, I believe they have a free shuttle to MCW, you should call and check. MCW will also have a shuttle that goes to the airport after the interview day for a small charge.

2. I wanted to attend the social but couldn't make it since I drove up Thursday from UIowa after I got done with my classes and I got there really late. But I think you get a good look at the school on interview day. Especially since the interview day is extremely well run and organized, probably the best I've been to. And the school is really great, it moved to the top of my list after seeing it interview day. I'm really hoping for an acceptance here. Hope that helps.

Hey All, I've been obsessively following this thread for the last few months, and am glad that I can finally contribute.

I received an interview invite today! The dates that they offered were Jan 21 and Feb 4. (My stats are: IS, 3.85 GPA, 30 MCAT (10,10,10), complete at MCW Sept. 21, small pooled Oct. 6)

I would agree that this was the most organized and well-run interview I have been to. An attractive interview experience.

Congrats, Pianoman!

Did anybody from the August/September small pools get invited today? I am trying to stay hopeful that I haven't been skipped over another time, but this isn't looking good.
