Did anyone here receive any indication that their application was complete? I submitted months ago, received an email telling me that I submitted, but nothing that said I was considered complete. I also don't have any status on the status check page (including for LORs, but looks like this is the norm?). Should I have received any sort of indication via email or on the status page that I'm complete?

You're fine. I didn't get one. You can always call if you're worried about it or your application was composed of an especially large number of pieces.

Has anyone received any interview invites lately?

According to their embark website, I was complete Oct 13... even though when I called in, a nice lady told me I was all done before the 11th. I wonder if they still have interview spots left for us October completes.

What do you mean "all done"? I too was complete around that time, about two months after my recs were uploaded!

I didn't get an email either, but my status page on embark says the exact data I was complete. You might want to call them to make sure (they're pretty nice)

Anyone still getting interviews? If so, what are your stats? Waiting is the equivalent of reading painfully over-extended literature (aka Frankenstein). 😉

Frankenstein is a good book, though 🙁

Quick question: how does mt sinai package their aid? Assuming you have an EFC of zero, would that mean you would take out a base loan of ~25000, and the rest of your need would be met with need based scholarships? Or is the rest of your need met with a 50 50 mix of schlarships and institutional need based loans?

thanks

I had to email them a small document. So I had called in frequently in September to ask if they had received it. They kept telling me they should have received it but couldn't confirm anything because apparently all they can tell me is if my application is complete. Finally I called in second week of October and this nice lady told me my file's all "done." Two days later, it was up on embark too. Completed Oct 13.

(crosses fingers) I hope they still have spots left.

Sinai will dole out the need base scholarships first when they give you your financial aid packet. They you borrow however much more you think you'll need.

does sinai normally call their accepted students asking about other questions? that was really nice of them.

I received the acknowledgment email on 8/26 and my LORs were marked complete on 12/2. I can't seems to find anyone else who experience the same time lag... anyone have insight?

I'm starting to panic.

Pretty much EVERYONE experienced this

^Kind of odd. If you want to make sure everything is cool, call them up during their "Status Check Days" (Mon and Weds between 2 and 4pm)

I submitted in Sept, got the acknowledgment in the same month and had my LORs Complete on the status portal in mid-October...

Guys, I have a really good feeling that we're going to get news this week.

So does having your LORs marked "complete" mean anything (e.g., that you've been reviewed)? There has to be some reason why they are suddenly updated...

I hope so! I loved Sinai. According to your mdapps, I interviewed the week before you. Do you have a specific reason to believe that decisions will be released this week? At our interview date, Jessica just said that our decisions "would be out before the holidays" so I kind of figured I'd be waiting for another couple weeks or so, but your post gives me hope... Is there some pattern to Sinai's committee meetings or decision release dates that you know of?

got the acceptance package in the mail today

Also someone waiting for the big decision. If you look at last year's thread, it looks like decisions get released more or less en masse once a month. Last month's release was around the 20th. So I would imagine we still have a couple of weeks to go.

Good luck to all of you. I thought Sinai was amazing, and if I get good news, I think it would be hard to convince me to go elsewhere.

hey all - how long does it take for embark to update your interview status once you've been invited and confirmed?

Alternate list? Is that different from the waitlist? Either way, vaguely disappointed.

Same here. When do we have to complete the drug screening by? I know it says to send our transcripts asap, but I don't want to go through the hassle of the drug test until I know for sure that I'll be matriculating here...

Congrats to those getting accepted today! 😀

Unless something changed since when I applied, you don't need to do the drug screening or any of that until you matriculate. I remember doing it sometime in May or June.

How much time does Sinai give you to accept their offer? I just got accepted today (YAY!), but am heading home for the holidays. By the time they send out their letter, I will no longer be on campus to receive it and might not get the letter until 1-2 weeks after it arrives.

Should I call the office and ask them to send it to my permanent address?

Does anyone know the best time to send in an update letter/interest letter after being waitlisted? I'm thinking February but maybe later would be better?

Yeah I would just call or e-mail them asking if they can either send it to your permanent address or if they can wait until you get back.

There's no best time. If you plan on sending one letter, then I would wait a bit because they're still busy and involved in interviewing other students. If you're someone who will send multiple letters over time, then there's no reason why you can't even start sending them out now.

did anybody get rejected? or do they just waitlist?

Accepted 12/8! Interviewed on 11/12. Good luck to everyone else still waiting to hear back!

Did anyone else get emailed today from Embark advertising their shopping rewards program? Way to spam your applicants, Sinai.

+1 all spam should at least be accompanied by an interview invite.

Hi lex (or others), did it really take ~2 weeks to get the acceptance letter like it says in the email? Also, what do you have to do to hold a place in the class (return form, deposit, etc.)?

Thanks!

I was accepted 11/20 and received the letter 12/6.. so yeah, it was about 2 weeks. You have to sign and mail back a form to reserve your spot (within 2 weeks-ish? they give you a deadline date but I don't remember mine) There was no monetary deposit required.

Thanks cyanide, that's really helpful! I'll keep my eye out.

Really Embark? Two more spam e-mails??? Reallly????? 😡

For those who already interviewed, what's the interview day schedule? Is it reasonable to get out by 3 p.m.? Thanks!

I just interviewed,
GPA 3.7, BCMP 3.56, MCAT 32.
don't worry your interview is coming soon.

I'm pretty sure Embark doesn't belong to Sinai... it's an application service that Sinai uses. Kind of like the system that Columbia, Brown, etc use.
