Nope, it is my fifth, I have also been accepted to an MD program in Chicago, but since NYMC is so much closer to my home town in CT I figure it is worth it to go on the interview. Also that is where I sent my updates, if it makes any difference to you I sent an update last week. I am not sure if this resulted in my interview but I am sure it didn't hurt. Good luck😀

Thanks for the heads up. I hope my update letter sways the ADCOMs.

Just got waitlisted 🙁

I really loved this school. I hear their waitlist gets a lot of movement so ::fingers crossed::

Just got a pre-interview rejection. Boo 🙁. Oh well.

As per the poster above me,

I think you should realize there is still a chance of getting a seat. My friend and dear peer advisor from last year at BUSM's GMS program is an M1 at NYMC and he interviewed from what he told me all the way in April.

So I'd say you still have a chance and its worth it to go.

Sorry to hear about your rejection, if you don't mind me asking was it by email or snail mail?

Grapefruits, did you interview in early December by any chance?

Just got an interview invite, though I won't be going.

Completed on 8/3/10.

Interview dates currently open are from 4/5-4/9. Good luck to anyone who is still waiting!

Has anyone who interviewed in early Dec (particularly Dec 8th) heard back? Been waiting for over 11 weeks 🙁

Hey, sorry to hear that. Does this put you out of the running for New York schools?

At least you still have a few more chances at an acceptance, so hang in there.🙂

Hey everyone, I just joined and am totally new to this.. it's great to meet you all.

My application has been complete since 10/07, yet it's still under review. Does anybody know when the institution stops interviewing the applicants? or when they stop sending out interview invites? I'm sure the question has been asked quite a lot already but the thread was too long to really read thoroughly.. 😳 please let me know! it will be much appreciated!

I should still keep my hopes up, right? :luck:

May is when they stop interviewing not sure about when last invites go out.

If you've not heard they are still reviewing you. I got rejected only recently after being complete since 9/1/10. So they must just not have made a decision with regards to your app yet or gotten to yours. Not sure which category you are in.

Ah.. I see. Thank you. :xf::xf::xf:

Waitlisted.. interviewed 12/6 .. 30Q 3.8 GPA

anyone interviewed in early December (part. 12/8) hear back?

Complete 9/03 33Q 3.5, still waiting to hear back ugh.

PhynixMed, do you mind sharing your stats? Dang, a lot of people are getting WL'd post interview...is that usually how it is?

34P, 3.64 gpa, UCLA. I thought the interview went really well too, i'm not really sure why I wasn't accepted... I know that sounds a little arrogant, but I really thought everything went perfectly. 🙁

PhynixMed, thanks for the reply, what do your ECs look like? I;m just super curious

First let me say I'm sorry things didn't work out like you had expected/wanted but with those stats I'm sure you'll get in somewhere.

From my experience it is these types of interviews that tend not to go your way. This is very anecdotal so I'm sure many others will share stories showing the opposite, but when I was interviewing, my worst interviews (in my opinion) ended up as acceptances or waitlists and my best was a straight up rejection. Unfortunately unless you can figure out what you may not have done as well as you could it is futile at best to figure out what went wrong. I for one was able to figure out what I could do better and my next 2 interviews resulted in an acceptance (to NYMC where I'm currently an M2) and a waitlist at downstate, which I was very proud of due to my subpar stats. I used a book which I forgot the name of, and basically what I was doing wrong was telling instead of showing the interviewers my reasons for going into medicine, as well as the passion I have that goes along with it.

Thanks WhoKnows, I appreciate the response and I like your advice, I'll make sure to use more stories and examples when I describe my interest in medicine for my next interview.

Kchen, in response to your question, I have been an active fraternity member and have been responsible for creating and managing events. I have done clinical research for two years and currently have a leadership position in this group. I have also done a student government committee for three years and have been both Chair and Vice-Chair. I also was a publicitiy coordinator for a homelessness awareness project and fundraiser. Hope that helps.

anytime. I just like the ability to offer advice from my experience because I know how difficult and trying a process this can be. The sheer lack of a guarantee of what you will be doing or where you will be in a matter of less than 6months can be troubling at best and stressful and anxiety promoting at worst. I waited until mid-march to get my first allo acceptance and it was both one of the best moments of my life as well as one of the hardest periods I have ever endured. This is an extremely humbling process and I'm a better person for having gone through it, regardless of the outcome.

hey to those who got accepted. Seeing as I was a little too excited when I got in, I forgot to write down how much the deposit is and who to send it to. Can anybody help please? CONGRATS to c/o 2015 and may ALL of us get in!

its been 11 weeks since I interviewed yesterday and i haven't heard back. I should probably subtract 2 weeks because of the christmas break right? interviewed 12/13

did everyone receive an interview follow up email days after there visit to NYMC?

well I interviewed with the director of admissions so im not sure if that is something she does personally but she sent an email providing me with more contacts I can email if I had anymore questions. It seemed generic so that is why I asked.

I haven't been following this thread, but has anyone been rejected pre-interview?

Anyone else intereviewing tomorrow?

My flight just got delayed for 2 hours, and I'm stuck in the airport.

Apparently, it's too windy, or something.

Did anyone who interviewed the week of 12/6 hear back?

Thanks, you too! :xf:

Hey, we definitely met, since there were only 12 applicants there.

I remember meeting someone from Michigan, so that must be you.

Good luck, and I hope we all get in (I said that at the very end, back in the breakfast/orientation room).

The deposit is $100 and you have to send it by may 15th. Not sure if you send it to the admissions office or bursar office. Maybe call and ask. Waiting to hear from a few more schools before sending my deposit so post where to send it if you find out. Congrats!

Anyone interview the week of 12/6/10 hear back? Been over three months and these guys are still taking their sweet time...wow

Hey guys,
Sorry if this has already been asked. On my status page it says my app has been under review since January 3rd. Any one think I still have a chance of getting an interview? Do they wait to send out mass rejections at the end of the interview season? Those of you who have gotten interview invites... what dates did they have left? Just wondering so I can narrow down my chances. Thanks,
--Lindsay

Yeah we definitely did.

I really enjoyed the interview day =)!

Anyone else have a Wednesday interview? Super excited for it! Probably my last interview, so hope it goes well...

I interviewed here last week, and really enjoyed it a lot. The facilities are nice, with a beautiful anatomy lab, and the admissions staff was really easy going.

Good luck!

anyone interview the week of 12/6 hear back yet?????? It's been 13 weeks and I'm about to kill myself if I don't get decision by this week...lol

Please don't, you'll be fine. Waiting this long doesn't have to mean anything, it could just be that your interviewer was slow to submit their report or something.

Good luck!:xf:

Did any of you guys interview with Dr. Lerea on your interview day? Does he have a reputation of taking a long time to review applicants before presenting them to the committee? Been 13 weeks since I interviewed and I was told the wait was 8-10 weeks...

Hey there current MS2 at NYMC. here to answer any questions you guys might have. Hopefully you have all been enjoying your interviews here and like the school. KChen- Dr Lerea is amazing but it sounds like you were interviewing with him right around/before first year histo finals so he was prob super busy and may not have made it to the intial reviews- might explain whats taking so long. Im sure you'll hear back soon. Best of luck to everyone!

I was very unexpectedly taken off the waitlist last week, but I've turned in my acceptance. Hopefully it goes to one of you good people :luck: Also, hopefully this is good news for anyone waiting on the wait list🙂

Did you write any updates/letters of interest after being waitlisted?

So has anyone who interviewed on the week of 12/6/10 receive a decision yet?
