Submitted AMCAS on 6/22, no secondary or notice of receipt of primary yet. Should I contact someone?
Just got off the phone with the Admissions Office, it looks like they haven't even received my primary yet, and it's been 6 weeks since I submitted my AMCAS (I was verified before I added Northwestern). I think I'm going to wait a week, then give AMCAS a call.
For essay #3:
Describe any experiences away from traditional educational pursuits (such as travel, or time in the workplace other than summer jobs). Specify the timeframe and the impact that the activity has had upon you. If you have been in school continuously, then describe a non-academic activity which as been formative.
I dont know if this question has been asked before, but does anybody know if Northwestern has any kind of status check page?
For the first question... are you guys mentioning exactly how you would fit into the learning environment- like Feinberg's curriculum offers blah blah blah and this fits with my personality because blah? I have an essay on specific personality traits and why they are appropriate for medical school but I was wondering if I need to cater this specifically for NW. Thanks!
Personally I read about their curriculum and specifically tailored mine for their school. My personality traits which specifically will help me succeed in both medical school and specifically with Northwestern. The prompt made it pretty clear (I thought) that they wanted specifics.
.Describe your personality and personal characteristics and how you expect that they will lead to success in the specific curriculum and learning environment of FSM..
I agree the wording is very ambiguous here. For what its worth, I wrote about my experiences working at an overnight summer camp for this question and I was ultimately interviewed and accepted at Northwestern in the 2008-2009 application cycle.I am also confused by the wording,
- a summer job can be a non-traditional educational pursuit.
- it sounds like you CAN'T write about your summer job but you can write about the inspiring interactions you had at the workplace.
For this question, I was going to write about my experience of working with a drug rehabilitation center. I think I learned a lot and I would enjoy writing about it. However, I did this receiving for summer internship (and I have been out of the school for a year now, doing some teaching). After reading the essay question few more times, I am worried that writing about rehab would not answer the question. Does anyone have insight about this?
should i just go ahead and write what I think is the most formative experience or should I read the question as "Explain what you did after graduate from college (since you have) and tell us how it drives you to medicine?"
I submitted my secondary today, and when I log back into the application it says "your status will be displayed on this page"...but it's not. Did it take a few days for people's status to appear up there?
three weeks after receiving the secondary, and it's finally submitted! Now come on interview!
But seriously, as I would love being interviewed by Feinberg, I rewrote my personality essay 3 times. I feel so lame.
Hi guys, i am not sure about my response for the coping strategies question. I only have about 100 words for it and i just kinda listed the different strategies i utilize.
Is this how you guys did it?
HAHA. I hope we get an interview together. You social ineptness could help out with calming my extreme hyperness when meeting tons of new people.I'd also love an interview here...and I'm sure every other applicant would as well haha...the only daunting thing is their panel interview! I don't fare well with other people...I'm socially inept and don't know how to talk to or with others. All I do is sit at home and study all day. Only when it's pitch black outside do I get up to run errands.
*totally kidding* but in all seriousness, good luck to everyone here and hopefully we'll hear back from them soon! 🙂
I actually gave a huge story about one of the most stressful times in my life and how I dealt with it. At the end I just gave a one/two sentence summary about the coping strategies I used so I didn't go insane.Hi guys, i am not sure about my response for the coping strategies question. ohgosh. I am worried. My essays are so different.By "coping strategies" they mean how you get over a difficult day by for example listening to music or hanging out with friends right?
Also for the personality essay, did you guys just say you were hardworker, motivated and how that would help in the learning environment of a small class size and group based learning environment?
AND YES. You would like interviewing with me. I have a habit of talking to random strangers just because it's hard for me to stay quiet. haha.I'd love it if we could interview together....it'd be nice if you're hyper, because I assume that means friendly and that makes it THAT Much easier to become friends with you. In all seriousness, meeting people is awkward if they're quiet/not talkative. It's like "god damn it, i'm trying to befriend you..SPEAK! Don't be short/curt with me...that's just ****ed up/makes it in infinitely more difficult to talk to you"

I didn't know Northwestern has panel interviews...eeek! Well, if I ever get extended an invite I hope I interview with you guys. Nice people make this interview part less stressful. And I totally agree with you, it's so awkward when you're trying to be friendly and the other person seems unresponsive.
I was hoping I would get first post here, but I guess I'm way too late. Oh wells.
Anyone get an email today asking you to fill out a survey? It asks a bunch of questions about your interest in the school...
Idk, I figure any communication from them is good...but wanted to know if anyone else got it.
Hey, so I'm slightly late in the cycle to the MSTP (my primary just got verified on friday night) but all my documents are in except for the secondary that im working on now (just got it monday). I just got an email though from northwestern for "selected applicants" saying "It is important that you complete your application by early September to have the best chance of being invited to interview." and most importantly...
"The MSTP Admissions Committee has reviewed your AMCAS application and is extremely impressed by your academic accomplishment and research promise. If you are receiving this message it is because the Committee has given me your name as a top candidate for admission."
Is this really just something they send to a lot of people... cause I didn't think they screened? I'm getting kind of excited cause Northwestern is one of my top schools!
Thanks, and good luck everybody!

Congratulations! Does't sound like something they just hand out like candy...Pretty promising.
awesome start to my morning!
my friend got invited for interview last week sometime.
Was he just regular MD? No MSTP or EDP?

MSTP interview! The email makes it sound like this is the first round of invites.
When were you complete etc? If you don't mind sharing!
