Does anyone know if the acceptances for the Dec. 13th interview session went out yet?

I have an interview in a week...filled in the student hosting form a while ago, but I haven't heard anything yet. For those who interviewed and stayed with a student, how far in advance did someone contact you?

Has anyone from the 12/4 interview received anything in the mail (rejection, waitlist, or acceptance)?

I have the same question too. I interview in a week and a half and haven't heard back about student hosting either 🙁 Should I just go ahead with a hotel reservation?

hi,

do any current stanford students know if there was any movement off of the waitlist during previous application cycles? thanks!

What are stanford's numbers like in terms of #accepted, # waitlisted, and #rejected after interviewing?

During the interview we were told that they were accepting about 200 or so, (from about 450 interviewees)..I have no idea how many they waitlist, but I think MDeast has said that they waitlist a lot of students and that the waitlist has been very fluid in the past...

been complete since August 7th and still not a peep. not sure if it's a good thing or my application has been lost

Definitely still a good thing. I was complete around the same time and received a rejection about a month ago, so keep the faith. You're in it until you hear otherwise.

Hey Cole, after your rejection letter, did you receive any change of status on the online portal?

For anyone that has an interview at Stanford- I was just wondering if anything changed on your online portal when you got the interview? Does it reflect anywhere? It doesn't really look like there's a place for "Application Status" other than the list of dates when you turned things in, but who knows what happens once you make it into magical world of interview land.

Appreciate any input!

Nothing changes. Under Application Status they only list the dates of completion of documents as you mentioned. There is not even an indication whether you were interviewed or not.

Ahhhh got the call earlier today (and on a holiday too)!! Interviewed in December...good luck to all!

C'mon phone, ring!

Any Dec 13th people get calls yet?

BrainBuff... are you sure? Because this person said that his/her application status did change (started including a "Schedule Interview" link) when s/he was offered an interview:

I don't remember how the Supplemental Application Status Page looked when I submitted my application, but I just checked the page and there's a "Schedule Interview" option below the "Print Application."

Is the "Schedule Interview" option always there? I didn't receive an e-mail with an interview invitation yet.

Hi BrainBuff,

On this note, will the interviewer talk to you and carry it like a discussion or are you just talking for the entire 8 mins?

Thanks!

I recently had my Stanford interviews. I agree that you should not worry about them. There are no right or wrong answers and they seem to evaluate how you think and analyze very specific scenarios. The key is to handle them just like during any other interview (but be quicker - you only have 8 minutes ) State your case, stand by it and be able to defend your reasoning and your position. That is all. But more important, don't lose your cool and don't get into an argument with any specific interviewer - if he turns out to be an *******. My group seem to have had "one" and everyone was really annoyed !! (Some people left with a very bad taste at the end of the interviews which was a shame).

And as far as being pretty awesome and fun??.....naaahhh. This is n=30 (all the kids who interviewed with me)

It depends. You may encounter both. I remember someone who kept asking -why? why? why? to every reply. By the end, some of us were glad that we did not have a baseball bat close by. (At some point I had a brief urge of beating him up with one)

Second!! Second!!
Second. Coming from a college town high school I can attest to how many grossly under-qualified students matriculated top 10 schools because their daddy or mommy (in some cases both) were professors or important people at an undergrad. And I'm not talking about just 1 or 2 students.

The interviews weren't that bad. Just long and tiring.

Thanks a lot!

I guess what I worry about is that I will run out of words in 3 mins...in this case, do I just go to the next station? Or will the interviewer give the problem a different spin?😳

This actually did happen to me at one or two stations. I just thought some of the prompts were not as deep or did not pose enough of an ethical quandary to warrant an 8 minute discussion. For the most part however, I feel the burden of preventing awkward silence was on the interviewer, and most were able to probe my reasoning or add an additional level of complexity to continue the discussion.

Worst case scenario, just recapitulate your stance and smile.

Hey mdeast, any idea how many more interview invites are yet to be given out?

Not sure to be honest. Interviews run through the end of February and I somewhat doubt all of them have been given out yet. We're still only about 1/2 way through the interview season at Stanford, so still another 200 or so people to interview.

Very helpful! Thank you so much🙂

It's sooooo quiet here...

I submitted my secondary at the beginning of September with no word ever since. How many people here are in the same boat?

Snail-mail rejection received today. Complete 10/3. Guess I'm not going to have to worry about the MMI!

+1. Was complete all the way back in early September, so I was holding out hope that the silence was a good thing. Oh well, good luck everyone still waiting!

Oooh what a party! I also received a snail mail rejection today. Rude.

Rejection here as well. Mine came Saturday. Bummer. 3.6/36Q.

Snail Mail Rejection today as well. Complete 08/11.

+1 rejected via US Mail-received Saturday (to home address in nor Cal) Complete 8/24-36Q:3.9

Another Monday reject here. I'm glad to finally hear, though--I'd been complete since mid-August.
Good luck, everybody!

With all these rejection posts it's going to be either highly enjoyable or highly awkward for the next person to post with an interview invite... 🙂 that is, of course, if any more of those go out.

I have been complete since 9/1. Haven't heard anything either. After hearing about all the rejections, I ran to my mailbox, but I didn't get one yet. Maybe tomorrow.

add me to the list of people who have not heard anything yet after being complete in august

...I'm guessing by this point my application is no longer gathering in that abandoned office park in Silicon Valley...and that a sad news letter is likely on its way 🙁
