Finally a Tuesday with some good news!! nwilkes, I interviewed the week before you, so I was starting to lose hope, but I just saw the acceptance e-mail.

Couldn't be happier! Iowa City's a great place to be.

I'm nervous too but I try not too get to excited because it may be a while before I hear back.

"....it's about 98% exciting and 2% scary... or maybe 2% exciting and 98% scary, I don't know for sure but that's what makes it so INTENSE!" haha, I’d say that quote fits nicely here.

It looks like this week wasn't my week. Probably optimistic to think I could hear back the week of Thanksgiving. This wait is killer, and without being too pessimistic it looks like it could be a lot longer. Though it's actually comforting to see other people got acceptances, I can stop stalking my inbox the rest of the day. Would you mind saying if your IS or OOS? Just curious because I know they are reviewed separately.

When did you interview NYC?

Does anyone know if each Tuesday UI also releases regrets or are these sent via regular mail. I'd like to think that no news on a Tuesday is a bit of good news in that at least I didn't receive a regret today:clap:

IS (and you can find all the gory details on my MDApps page, but be careful, that site is addicting) 🙂

All I know is someone had posted earlier that you will be emailed if you are placed in the final pool. I haven't heard of any rejections yet...last year, though, it seems the rejections went out through snail mail. No news is better than certain rejection/final pool news, that's for sure.

Congrats! And so true.

Also, is there a fb page up yet?

Accepted! Thank the good Lord, finally.
Interviewed 9/29 and got an email of 10/15 that my committe letter wasn't complete enough. It's been a nerve-wracking month, to say the least.
Best of luck to the rest of you!

Midwestern Blot, I know we interviewed around the same time...really hoping you got some good news today, too! :luck:

Hey, thanks. Unfortunately, I haven't heard anything yet. That is the hardest part, not knowing anything.

However, my secondary app. was not complete until the second week in August, and I believe they go in order from when the secondary was complete, not when your interview day was. I'm still holding out hope that they haven't gotten to my file yet, and maybe I will get a nice early Christmas present from Carver.

Yes. Director of Admissions told me that merit scholarships are awarded during the rolling admissions season, separate from financial aid awards.

Has anyone any news to report in this department (merit scholarships)? Because the only thing better than med school is a more affordable med school...

Man, all the accepted applicants' stats are so much better than mine. 🙁

Had my MDPHD interview allllllll day on Monday! It was a GREAT experience. Really hope I get in here--the staff is amazing. *crosses fingers*

Here's to next Tuesday! :xf::xf:

+1 If i'm super lucky and my file happens to be reviewed (interview 11/8).

That's wonderful to hear! I'm so glad you enjoyed your visit. I was born and raised in Iowa City and I'm finishing up my last year of undergrad here. I would be MORE than happy to stay another 4 years for medical school though 😀 ...such a great place!

Best of luck to you :xf:

Oh, and GO HAWKS! Big game against Ohio St. today!

So I just got my official acceptance packet.....dated November 2nd, and mailed Nov 17th. I wasn't emailed until November 16. I wonder if I had actually been accepted before that, and they just didn't notify me, or if it's just a standard date they put on all the November acceptances. Anyone else?

Your dates are definitely a little weird. But still, dates don't matter too much now...you're in! congrats on the acceptance! 👍

Think they will release any invites today? Even though it is Thanksgiving break?

I just did some recon work on last year's thread and it looks like 4 SDNers got accepted the Tuesday of Thanksgiving break last year. Obviously the number doesn't mean anything, but to answer your question: Yes, I do believe some acceptances will go out today.

Good luck everyone! :luck:

Looks like nobody on SDN today. Seems like last week people were receiving acceptance e-mails before 3:00PM EST.

I was also watching the clock for 3:00, the inbox, and the forum. Looks like nothing this week. Sent an email to someone I interviewed with just to see if they heard anything.

I interviewed on 10/27, so I am probably a little over eager in expecting a reply.

Another thought on the day I interviewed at the wrap up she told me the committee meetings can go as late as 6:00, and that she still comes back to the office to e-mail people their acceptance since she wants to spread the good news. So there is still hope for today.

what day did you guys interview? I'm still holding my breath until at least 5:30.

I also interviewed 10/27. Figured that students who'd interviewed in September got accepted during the first wave of acceptances (10/15), so at best I was hoping for about a month of wait time between interview and acceptance...assuming I'm lucky enough to be accepted.
I was talking to a friend of mine who is infinitely more qualified for a spot in the class than I am, in-state, who told me the admissions board had interviewed so few IS students in October they actually decided to forego mailing IS acceptances for a couple of weeks (OOS not affected). That made me feel a little better, then, but then a new batch of acceptances kicked in the week after and I wasn't one of them. And the wait continues.
When did you interview staple?

Looks like nothing this week. Nuts.

11/1.... They had told me 2-4 weeks, and this is week 3 for me. Nothing tonight. I'm an in-stater, so I was hoping to hear back from them relatively fast. My gpa and mcat are above average, so I am not toooo nervous, but I'm still going to be pretty bummed if I don't hear back after the 4 week mark. Might plan on calling them tomorrow just to make sure they don't need anything else from me for my application to be complete. Seems kind of excessive to have four weeks inbetween an interview and acceptance, but if that is what it takes, I'll buckle down for the wait! 😱

At my interview on 10/13 they said 4-6 weeks, which I'm coming up on. They also said it could be a little longer due to Thanksgiving stuff. OOS 3.97 35P

Had my interview on 11/1 also.... they said 4wks is about right, but it could also be 8wks. So just waiting in anticipation that Carver shows me some love~! :meanie:

From the pattern of this thread I'm pretty sure decisions are every other Tuesday unless no one on sdn gets accepted every other Tuesday which would be weird. Impretty sure it's every other week

Now that you said that it makes sense--and I recall hearing from a friend who was accepted about a month ago that they meet every two weeks a while back now that you mention it. I can't say how accurate a source that is but it seems that you would be correct.

I interviewed that day too...OOS and still haven't heard. Let's cross our fingers for tomorrow! :xf:

Interviewed 11/3... waiting patiently:whistle:

Anyone with good news yet??

Judging by when most applicants find out on Tuesdays, probably no news for another 45 minutes to an hour. But i have my fingers crossed for everyone! :xf:

Congrats! I interviewed on 11/19 and I'm not really expecting anything this week, but I'm glad to see that you got a response so quick. Hopefully you aren't the only one that gets a response today.

Congrats RunDocRun.....

Congrats RunDocRun for sure, but with your stats I'd say you were pretty golden from the start. I was really hoping for an e-mail today but I guess I wasn't so lucky. Anyone else with acceptances out there?
