is it just me, or is everyone else unable to view the application portal. it just says that secondaries are no longer available.

i was hoping to log on and see if they updated my status after the meeting. (anyone know when they call/email?)

They aren't, I am just slow on the uptake. I have been telling everyone it's on the 13th when it's really the 12th. I guess I will run into you then.

I have the same message. When I didn't hear back after the late January review of the folks on hold, I gave up, only to get an interview invite two weeks later. Go figure. I do know that the folks at the admissions office are absolutely wonderful, send them an email and ask!

Yeah, call them to find out if your application was discussed at the ADCOM meeting, and what the outcome was.

well, on hold. should have expected it being in the last group of interviewees considered for a spot, and being OOS...

ummm. on hold is my status. like, im on hold. as in when i called them, they told me. hey you file was placed on hold and will be re-reviewed for acceptance in may...

Did you just call? Hey, a hold is better than a rejection. Pray for spots to open up in May or earlier. I wish you the best.

Oh im fine with the hold ( i would have loved an acceptance) I just didnt really know how else to explain it...

i knew it was coming, im OOS and they take only around 10% OOS.

Yep I'm OOS too. Guess its the waiting game. But its true it is better then a rejection!

Don't count yourself out that much. Last year's OOS matriculants comprised 30 percent of the class. (I think that's their average goal each year.)

I think you're right. I got this email about a month ago:

Thank you for your interest in the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. We think it is only fair to tell you that, at this point in the admissions cycle, the 2011 entering class is filled and oversubscribed. All current class positions have been offered at this time.

Completely agree. Been on the alternate list since October and am getting tired of waiting. Can't it just be May already?

I got an email about hold status earlier today. More waiting. They aren't reviewing those of us on hold until April, so we are just waiting for waitlist. Waiting to wait more.

I got an email saying that they would let people who made the waitlist know by May 1st.

You interviewed on the 12th, right? They told us this then and said those who were still on hold (on the list to make the waitlist) would know around the end of March. Maybe that email was only sent to those already on hold?

Thank you for your patience as we continue to review your application for admission to the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. The Admissions Committee will be reviewing Hold files during the month of April. After reviewing the files of all candidates who are currently on Hold, the committee will formulate the alternate list. If there are updates that you would like to have added to your file, please email them to [email protected] prior to March 31.

Applicants who are selected for the alternate list will be notified by May 1. Offers of admissions will me made from the alternate list throughout the summer as openings in the class occur. The class of 2015 will matriculate on August 1. No offers will be made after that date. Please be aware that we do not release information regarding an individuals rank on the alternate list.

If y'all haven't heard yet, I might recommend giving their admissions office a poke. Ms. Scott is out for the next week, but someone else there might be able to liaise with you.

I emailed them, I remembered they said we should know about being on hold at the end of March, so they emailed back to let me know I was out of the running. Good luck!

so i got a skinny envelope in the mail from UK today...

it was just an on hold letter. eeek! i was so sure it was going to be a rejection letter. so relieved... now for more waiting.

Me too...The email also says the class is oversubscribed, so I'm assuming that means probably not too many, if any, people will be coming off the waitlist.

Yeah, I dont know what the harm would be telling us...unless they don't want people at the bottom of the waitlist to bail and then, on the off chance that they do find themselves needing to fill multiple spots, not have enough interviewees to fill the holes.

Either way, I have a hunch that there is not going to be a ton of movement. I could be wrong. Anyone have thoughts?

I don't think it means that. I think most of the movement happen after the deadline. There is always movement.

I got a call today for my acceptance offer - I was on the waitlist. I have 24 hours to decide. I am in a conundrum, baffled over how to choose between U-KY - which is a dream, or my instate school U-WA.... I will keep you posted but at least that means there is Movement on the list! 😀
