Received the secondary last night. I was "late" applying (got to love having to pay bills and trying to get into med school...), but I'm thrilled.

I miss Miami terribly, especially now that it's in the 40s when I get up to go to work.

I'm debating about applying to the MD/PhD program. I'm not sure if that would help or hurt me, but I can think of some really great things I'd love to do being able to practice and do research in my field. Choices...choices...

:luck: everyone!

and... GO CANES!

I'm interviewing for the MD/MPH on Nov 17th.

Has anyone gone through this process yet? What did you think of the new combined program? Also, interviewing does not necessarily bind you to the dual degree program does it??

Good Luck everyone!

does anyone who interviewed on the 4th remember what day they said they would get back to us about a decision?

I interviewed on the 4th also! I remember them saying we should expect to hear back on October 27th after 5pm EST. It should be a phone call if accepted or email if waitlisted.

hope that helps!

Hey guys! Interviewing Here November 15th. For those of you that have interviewed/have been invited to interview, did you get any sort of follow up email after you called and scheduled? Most other schools have sent me links to hotels in the area, do they have any partnerships/discounts?
Thanks!

Check the interview invite email. There should be a file attached. On the file is a list of nearby hotels. I stayed at the Spring Hill which was a beautiful hotel next to the clinical research building, but it was a little $$$ (very nice breakfast and shuttle). There is a hotel literally right next to the CRB that was around $50 a night. I am not sure what it was called but if you call the office they can tell you (or google it!)

Hope that helps!

When is the application deadline to this school? I have yet to submit my secondary, I plan on submitting this weekend. 3.86/3.88 34P.

Good luck to everyone! First round of decisions will go out tomorrow!

if i didnt get a call today should i expect a waitlist email tomorrow? 🙁

Thanks!!! Sure.. My cumulative GPA is 3.826 and my MCAT is 31O.. And I interviewed on September 24th.

Congrats! I scheduled my interview for late next month, so probably won't here anything until january.

My interviewer (who was the one who called and told me the news) told me I should be getting the official acceptance email tomorrow...

alright so either my call didnt get through, they didnt get to my week of people yet, or im getting the waitlist email tomorrow. geez.

Congrats again though

Thanks! Yeah, it's probably one of those. I hope you get that acceptance email tomorrow!! Keep us posted 🙂 Although maybe calling them wouldn't hurt, I'm sure, if you don't get anything tomorrow!!

wahoooo accepted!!!! Interesting phone call (around 5:00pm central time)
I am super excited, definitely one of my top choices!!!

Got the email today at 8:08 ET. Cannot put into words how I feel right now. 🙂😀🙂😀🙂😀

Good Luck everyone!

Just had my interview this week. I really enjoyed both the main campus in Miami and the program they have in place for third and fourth year in West Palm Beach. It's more of a PBL based curriculum for the first two years, which is different from the regular campus. Interviewing for it in no way binds you to the dual degree program, and they said acceptance to the MD or MD/MPH programs are independent of each other.

That said, I loved it, and if MD/MPH is what you really want to do then I highly recommend it.

Thank you! I am interested in MD/MPH but what scares me is the cost. How did you like the interview(s)?

There was only one interview for both programs. It was a bit trickier than other interviews I've been on, but my interviewer was very friendly though. The tuition cost is a flat equivalent to four years of out of state tuition whether you are in state or not - which is an awesome deal for OOS. That said, for in-state it's still cheaper than taking a year off to do your MPH requirements, plus you don't lose a year.

Class of 2015! Congrats to the rest of my future classmates....see you in August! 😀😀😀😀😀😀

Oh okay, sorry. I assummed since they were trying to establish independence from UM they were laying low. Especially since last year's episode.

So why did you ask this question if you already knew the answer?

how competitive do you think the applicants will have to be to get in to FAU's program since they are releasing their own application separate from AMCAS so late in the season? Will they offer scholarships to increase competition like UCF? I ask b/c i have a friend with less than stellar stats who is going to wait till next cycle to apply, but I think he should apply to FAU and try to get in this cycle.

interviewed october 15th and accepted 10/27. yay for class of 2015!!!!

I interviewed on Sep 24th and still have not heard from them. They said I would hear on Oct 27. I called and they said that my case was not discussed on the adcom meeting so they dont have a decision.
Has this happened to anyone else???
Any recommendations as to what I could do????

your name might have just not come up. maybe send a follow up email or thank you letter showing your interest for the school?

I interviewed on the same day as you. The only other thing I did was email Agnus a few times. Send them emails continuously showing that your still interested if this is your first choice school.

did it work for you??

I do not think that annoying a secretary by "sending emails continuously showing that your still interested" is going to get an admissions committee to change their decision about your application.

You will get accepted to a school because you have the credentials and/or because you are a fit, not because you tell the school they are your first choice. Update letters and letters of intent are relevant ONLY if you are adding further accomplishments to your application. Otherwise, they are just annoying (as I was told during a recent interview elsewhere)

Each school's different, it's best to ask. UF for example welcomes interest letters.

And congrats to those who've been accepted!

I completed my application on 9/15 and I haven't received heads or tails of anything since then. Am I hosed? What was the length of time it took from submission to hear back from them? And do they send out a rejection notice?

I don't believe they send out complete emails, I didn't get one. Either call or email and ask if your complete.

I got mine five days after being complete... call and ask what's wrong if you don't get the complete message...
don't forget to send them your photo, you're not complete until you do that!🙂

Have any acceptees received their official acceptance letter in the mail yet? Does anyone know the time limit for accepting the admission offer?

I am still waiting on my package as well. I sent an email though saying that I wanted to accept/hold my spot in the class. I am assuming that as long as they received that you are good for now.

let me know when you get yours ! 🙂

When I applied, I was complete in October and did not receive my interview invitation until January or so. There's still plenty of time. 🙂

I was very tired and made a mistake submitting the last question in my secondary where it asked about why you want to go to UM.
I wrote 3 bullet points about its location to my family, great research facilities, and great clinical opportunities. All my other essays were solid in primary and secondary, do you think that not developing the last essay would be a deal breaker? I am instate 31Q, 3.86, lots of EC's and submitted in early October.

Does anyone know when the school starts giving out scholarships, grants, etc? I saw on last years thread that some people were awarded up to 75% before Jan 1
