NO...StephBee cannot not serious about the 30P, 3.9 seeing as you and I both got interviews. I have a 28O, 3.8overall, 3.7science. Don't lose hope.

If they invited you to interview then they would like to have you as a student👍...pending your interview so trust me, you passed the cut.

Best of luck to you, see you on the 2nd

....and you should reply to my PM. 🙂

Agreed. Once you have an interview I think they really like you. I have 36R and 4.0s 3.9c and I was rejected pre-secondary as an out of region candidate. I also have pretty good ECs including a good amount of underserved community activities.

You guys should assume you are on the same level as the other applicants interviewing, and that you have a great chance at joining the class of 2015 there. Get psyched, be yourself, and have a blast up there! Good luck 🙂

I'm sorry. I like your attitude though 👍. Most people I know that got in at UWSOM had to reapply. Can I ask what day you interviewed? I'm trying to gauge generally when people hear back because I think 3-4 weeks is too long.

they got back to me within 3 weeks, which i think is pretty reasonable, given that they have ~15 applicants per interview day with a few interview days per week (and also factor in the fact that they won't discuss you without your excom at the meeting).

good luck!

I heard back today as well, and I interviewed last week 25/10. Still under consideration...

Whoa that is really fast with decisions. Are you saying that you've been placed in the competitive pool for continuing review?

Yup that is correct StarryNights, I was placed in that pool. The email came today around noon. I was surprised to hear so fast too. They might have had an Excom meeting today, but then I'm not totally sure. Anyone else interviewed recently and heard back??

yeah, I interviewed in mid-october and heard back today that I'm in the "still under consideration" pool as well. Fingers crossed, and the waiting game continues!

With the Competitive Pool decision, is there any chance they'll accept you during the cycle? Or is that for sure you'll have to wait until March or so when they rank you on the waitlist? Sorry for all the questions, you guys, but mucho thanks

Congrats to those who have been accepted already!

Question about residency verification: I received an email last week stating that I was verified as a WA resident for Fall 2011, but the status on my app hasn't changed yet. Did this take a while to change for any other WA residents that needed their residency verified? Think I should call?

Thanks!

i also have the same question. also, are we ranked in this competitive pool?

For those of you on hold/interviewed recently, my student host who's on the adcom (but not excom) told me that the next "executive committee" meeting will be sometime late November. That means we'll can potentially hear back late november/early december.

Good luck to you all!

UWash emailed me August 23 saying that they received my AMCAS app and would let me know within 1 month - 6 weeks if they would send me their secondary application. However, it's November 10, and I haven't heard a word from them. Does this mean that I've been rejected?

I googled it and find out that while it only takes ONE year to get residency status... one has to be there for a reason OTHER THAN education.

I wonder if anyone has deferred their acceptance for a year and work in WA for a year to gain residency.

btw, for medical school applicants (and only med school applicants I believe) the residency requirement is six months, not a year. I'm in this boat--moved here June 1st to work for the UW so I'm waiting unti Dec 1st to submit my residency forms. They assure me that turning this form in so late will have no impact on my chances.

Added UW late to my list and got the prelim email on Sep20th. I'm on my 7th week right now, with no word back yet. I'm planning to wait until the 9th week to call them up or email them.

In your case, though, since its been something like 10 weeks, I would probably give them a call to check up on your app, alhtough I'm prety sure they're just pretty backed up.

Im OOS, with stats below their average, and they really surprised me by sending me a secondary today. Do you guys think this means i actually have a chance there?

How many OOS get secondaries and how many are actually interviewed, anyone know?

Thank you!

They don't send that many 2ndaries to OOS-ers. Definitely send it in. I don't know the exact numbers.

Ya, i agree with bulldog...send it in. I'm oos, below average mcat and got an interview. It's not just about the numbers for them. I'm going with rough numbers here but i think they accept about 25 OOS after interviewing somewhere around 100. Maybe a little more than 100.

Best of luck!

Close guess. According to MSAR, they interviewed 79 people last year.... 15 matriculated, 4 of which are MD/PhD. Supposedly they accept even up to 40 applicants some years, so that's an acceptance rate of ~50%, much higher than the typical ~33% for most schools. That's because they make sure each of their interviewees is a gem before making them fly there.

I.S. complete Oct. 4. Sounds like a lot of us are in the same boat...next in line for interview invite. Scary.

This is the ethics site, and if you have been looking at any of the SDN interview questions, you will realize that you need to review this site.

I just interviewed there a few days ago, loved it, but i didn't know about this site until the night before my interview when my host told me...so thought i'd share it!

Good luck!

I'm IS just got an interview invite for the 8th. Less than a week between notification and the interview - quick turnaround! At least they are giving us a free lunch!

Congrats! that's nuts. when was your application complete?

Interview invite for the 22nd, IS, Complete 10/04

Just curious if there are other MSTP peeps out there and how they're doing in the interview process!

God, I'd love an interview here. (well, really at this point I'd kill for an interview ANYWHERE but UWA is near the top of that list 😛)

congrats, hope it isn't bad news that i didn't hear anything today:scared:

I got the e-mail after 6pm so I think they barely got to me. I bet you'll hear back tomorrow! Good luck! Hopefully I'll see you there 🙂

I agree with your inclination towards UW. I had a strong hunch that this school would be a great fit for me and after having interviewed there last week, I am absolutely in love with it, despite having never been to Seattle before in my life. I am actually quite nervous about the prospect of not getting in.

Does anyone know how UW take to LOI's?

Why would they do that to me...look, now I have anxiety. (IS complete 10/4 as well)

i know the completion e-mail said most WWAMI applicants won't hear regarding interviews until dec/jan. i'm an idaho applicant. any word?

To all others completed early Oct. I called today and they said it would be within a couple of weeks before I hear either way.

Thanks for checking, its strange that Umami would get an invite though and we have to wait 2 more weeks even though we were all complete the same day.

I submitted all my secondary materials about 4 weeks before they confirmed my letters of rec, so very early september, does that change anything?

Good luck all!

IS, complete 10/4. Invite for 11/30.

I wish it was sooner but that'll do.

Excited!

OOS, got secondary on Friday!! Woo...!!! I'm actually thrilled to get their secondary! Most of my state schools have shown me no love. Thanks UW. :soexcited:

Has anyone had an interview with the office of multicultural affairs? Just wondering what kinds of things they ask...

I read in an earlier post that someone made a call to the admissions office to ask about the autobiography essay length and they said roughly 1 page double spaced.

Are people with interviews for UW writing autobios that are roughly this length? Seems kind of short, not that I've done world-changing things, but seems like its only enough space to elaborate on one or two things!

It was about the same length as my PS.

Very laid back and conversational. Your motivations for going into medicine, your tie to the underserved communities, etc...

IS, completed secondary 10/18, no word back yet.

I am a TRUST applicant, and apparently they don't interview for that until January... Any other TRUST applicants get a response yet?

I was complete 10/4 and was just invited this week. I think you have a little while before you should really start worrying.

Accepted!

OOS, interviewed early November.

Got the phone call earlier today from my excom member. Pretty thrilling. Good luck!
