I got the same email. I think they just wanted to let us know they'll send interview invites for February and March in January and acceptances on December 15/March 15... I wouldn't worry about it.

Dude, same here. What's going on, I've been complete since the beginning of August!? Does this mean they haven't started looking at my app until now? Or perhaps they sent that email to every applicant who has not received an interview yet 😕
 
To all applicants who received a status update e-mail from VTCSOM Admissions today:

We currently have over 400 active secondary applications that are being reviewed for our 80 remaining MMI interview invitation slots in February and March 2011.

If you received an e-mail today, it was to let you know that you are still being considered for one of those interview invitations.

VTC sent out one group of acceptances on Oct 18, and will send out the next group of acceptances on December 15.

Do you guys think its too late to add this school on my AMCAS as I just found out about it. Lower than Avg GPA, good MCAT and bunch of ecs..

Does anyone know if decisions are emailed in addition to snail-mail? I'll be out of the country until January, and I'll be hoping for some good news around December 15th 🙂 Loved Roanoke and VTC from my interview visit back in September.

Call the admissions office and explain why you'd like an email, and I'm sure they can make a note in your file. It can't be too difficult, if they're already snail mailing they can email it as an attached document.

Acceptances are a phone call and an e-mail (simultaneously which is quite cool and made my Blackberry go crazy), as well as a decision packet shortly following.

Last year, I had slightly lower stats than yours, submitted my secondary on Jan. 1, and recieved an invite for February. If you've got a strong application to match your strong numbers, I wouldn't worry about it.

I would go ahead and badger Jesi from the admissions office every 2-3 days until your application is confirmed as complete though, just for good measure--it worked for me :laugh:
 
IS/OOS status does NOT matter at VTC. It has a public-private partnership and the tuition is the same no matter what state you are from. A large chunk of the charter class is from VA because a large chunk of the applicants were from VA; we were probably the most aware of the school's existence lol. If anything, attracting more OOS folks would help us get the word out about our school, so don't be at all concerned about your state residency being factored into the admissions process here.
 
Anyone else getting nervous for the 15th? I interviewed in November, loved the school, but feel like I did terrible in the MMI.

Here's hoping for good news anyway!

I'm right there with you!! This school totally exceeded all my expectations of a med school experience, so I'm hoping for some good news as well! :xf:
 
Still hoping for an invite in January... yowzer this is taking a long time.
 
Hey all. I had a question about the PPI evaluations that maybe some of you fine ladies and gentlemen could answer for me. All of my evaluators turned in their reports and I paid the fee and sent the report to VTC back in late October. I understand it said it takes 14 business days, but it is now December and the status still says "Processed".

Does this mean it has been sent already or will the status update to something along the lines of "Delivered" and/or "Delivered and your report is crazy good you fine looking specimen of manliness"?

do you think this dec 15 round of acceptances will be more geared towards people who interviewed later this fall? or just anyone who interviewed/is in the active status pool?

i was interviewed on the first mmi day (august 28th), and on oct 18 (first round of acceptances), i was notified that i would be in the active pool because they wanted to accept no more than 25% of their class in the first round of acceptances. sooo do you think dec 15 is for the late-fall interviewees, or anyone who interviewed and didnt get in? also, do you think they're going to again accept no more than 25% of their class? that is so few...

They mentioned that they were going to *try* to review the people from my interview day (Nov. 20) for this round of acceptances. That doesn't mean that they won't be rereviewing people who interviewed previously. Best bet is to call and ask if you're curious, they seem very open to questions about their process.
 
So what I remember from the interview day (Sept. 25), is that tomorrow is their larger acceptance day out of the three official days. I think they were trying to aim for 25%-50%-25% on each of the acceptance days. They made it seem like they would be rereviewing everyone's applications from before (although I would assume that they perhaps have some sort of pooling system with candidates that might seem like better bets.) I can't imagine that they would only accept 10 people from those first two interview days, and sort of disregard everyone for the following acceptance dates. (This may be very wishful thinking 🙁)

Interesting, I don't remember them saying that about the 25-50-25 thing.

Its very possible that I could have made that up, but I do remember saying that they were hoping to accept near half of the class on tomorrow's date, and so its possible I just sort of filled in the other numbers? (although out of a class of 42, its easier to divide by 2s and 4s :laugh:)
 
Hey, I wouldn't be complaining if they made a bunch of acceptances tomorrow (and I was one of them 😉 .)

It's pretty obvious that we do not have the inside track on admissions decisions/strategies. Unfortunate, n'est-ce pas? 🙂
 
lol. I actually thought the opposite. One of the current students at my interview told us that most people will be accepted in March. Either way, I'm praying for a call tomorrow....😀
 
GAH! These mixed signals could work to our advantage. Keeping hopes up for good news tomorrow :scared:, and if still active status pool, hope for the next acceptance date! :xf:

Haha that would certainly be awesome :laugh: I think they meant that an additional 25% would be accepted on 12/15, so when added to the 25% on 10/15 brings us to the halfway mark. Who knows, I hope we all get good news tomorrow 😀
 
haha perhaps! but I distinctly remember them saying that Dec 15 was the big acceptance date (at least it was in Sept., but this was well before the extra interview day bomb was dropped.)

Anyway, I am mostly just a nervous wreck, so my ramblings could mean absolutely jack. :laugh:

Courtnes: I am actually enjoying my time here at VTC, although it is really stressful right now trying not to remediate before Christmas (but I think everyone in our class will be fine!)

I got the acceptance call about about 3:00 in October, it was some time in the late afternoon, though who knows if they will have the same timing this time around.

I think one person did post an acceptance, but MDapplicants also updated last time too....:luck::luck::luck::luck::luck::luck::luck:
 
Just got the acceptance via phone call from Dr. Workman! Interviewed on Nov 20th.

Yeah we got an e-mail later saying we are now in the "Active Applicant Pool" or something like that (basically a waitlist).

Congrats BBN!
 
guess with no word by now we can probably give up hopes of an acceptance today eh
 
i guess so... i just wish i would receive the email letting me know if i still have a chance!!

I missed the call today while proctoring/grading a final!
So excited!
Dr. Workman left me a message to call back because they have some "good news" for me.

I interviewed way back on Aug. 28th!!!! 🙂
