We should be getting close to the final EXCOM meetings... ugh. All this anxiety is toxic.

Last year they sent out final decisions Thursday March 24th. Next Thursday I am going to be crazed! 🙂

Anyone have a ballpark of when we will get our acceptance packets with our ID# etc?

+1 ... can't fill SOM scholarship application without it, unfortunately 🙁

For current students: do you know if filling the scholarship application before the deadline will allow one to see where they stand BEFORE May 15th (since deadline is AFTER)?

Thanks!

Is the SOM scholarship application open now?

I think so, but you need the user information:

Does anyone know how many people can be on the waiting list (approximately)? And how long would that list stay valid -- is it until school starts, or until all of the accepted students pay their deposits? Thanks

UW doesn't have a deposit

You received your packet? Nice!

Well I received a user name and what not ... not sure I would call it a 'packet'.

Ahhh thanks, I hadn't noticed it was up. I'm a little surprised their deadline is after May 15... I definitely plan to use financial aid packages to make a final decision on where to go this fall so hopefully they can give us info well before May 15.

Spoke to a current student - they didn't know about their scholarships (need-based) until August. You may have to make a decision without that information, unfortunately. BUT, loan information should be out in April. UW may have some form of merit money, but none that I know of.

Hey guys,
I had a few questions:

1) Do we need to send UWSOM our transcripts if we graduated a couple years ago?

2) Where can we find our UW Student ID number and site placement for the scholarship?

Thanks!!

Great thanks! Are you just going to wait to hear about the site placements before submitting your scholarship application?

Again, thanks for your help 🙂

I realize this isn't the housing forum, but this may be relevant for some of you...

For those of you accepted and looking for housing in western washington: I live in Kirkland (awesome suburb, across the lake from Seattle) and am starting medical school out of state in August. I'm looking to rent out my house for the next 4 yrs and I figure finding a fellow med student looking for housing for the next 4 yrs would be prime. The place is best for a couple or small family (or 2-3 roommates).

3br 2bath 1420sq ft, good yard, 14 miles from campus. I lived there while doing research at UW for a summer and the bus commute is easy - plenty of students live on the eastside and ride the bus and/or bike in. Msg me for details.

I think I'll just wait. The application isn't due until May 31 and based on what EleanorAutumn said, we don't hear back until this summer so I don't see the point in rushing to submit it now.

Yeah there might be a chance that if you submit ASAP that you get a response before the 15th of May, but I doubt it - the current student was on top of their stuff and didn't hear until August. You could always try, but who knows?

Does anyone know when the final Excom meetings are taking place?

No more SUCs!!! I got the acceptance call a few hours ago!!!!!!!!! Super hype!!

Anyone know if more acceptances will be handed out, or is it just waitlist/reject at this point?

If someone got a call last night, today could be the day we find out...
I hope we all get in!! Good luck everybody! 🙂

I got the acceptance call this morning!!!! so happy! my excom member told me the last meeting was yesterday. I'm a seattle, IS applicant btw. Good luck to you all!

Note that he is from Idaho so for Washington residents it still could be a little ways off. They may just do their meeting at a different time for students from other states.

Edit: okay, guess I'm wrong! Congrats to the person above me! 😛

Congrats! When did you interview!?

Congrats! If you don't mind me asking, who's your excom member?

You guys are the best. I'm so glad I logged back in today and read more on the financial aid requirements. And to think that I thought I was done with just the FAFSA. Anyone else feel weird about needing parental info at this stage in your lives, or is it just me?

Also, Congratulations to those receiving acceptances!

To any others who read this and are waiting, stay strong.

And to those who did not receive acceptances, I hope you find your place among the 2016 classes, but if not and this is your dream, do not give up. Definitely keep trying.

Thanks for the pep talk! Definitely need as the cycle nears an end!

hey for those that asked. My excom member was Dr. Norris and my interview was on Feb. 1st. I got the under consideration email twice before the acceptance. Best of luck for those of you waiting!

Any idea when the alternate list will come out? Congratulations to those who got accepted! 🙂

I just called the admissions office and was told that all decisions (accept, reject, alternate) will go out on Monday.

For those of you who are wondering, I called the financial aid office and was told that they won't notify people of scholarship statuses until late in the Fall. They will send out the award letters w/ loans in April.

"Late in the fall," as in after matriculation? What about for OOR students who need to know the cost of attendence in order to make a decision?

So if we don't get an acceptance call today, this means alternate list or rejection?

Does every admit get a phone call? Or do they call some and notify others by e-mail?

If I remember right I believe the website said people on the "SUC" list would be notified by email after the final excom meeting. The phone calls are a little surprising since a lot of people are going to be accepted. Remember last year 46% eventually got in from the list. Have faith and we will somehow make it through the weekend hoping for the best on Monday.

Did you already get a UW student ID to log in and apply for the SOM scholarship? I haven't received a packet or an email about setting up a username and one is required to apply :/

Also gotta start looking up how to establish residency to get tuition cut in half the second year...

I'm IS, so can't speak for OOR students, although from last year it looks like they did give it to OOR students sooner, like in August?

Yes I did receive the enrollment confirmation letter about a week ago. Someone corrects me if I'm wrong. but I heard UW gives IS tuition to second year applicants anyway, even without establishing residency....

On interview day, they said they award fellowships to make up the difference in tuition for out of state residents. I don't know if this begins in first or second year but you do have to work for it. Its not a hand out.

I am having a hard time understanding how UW tries to recruit disadvantaged students and then does not give them the financial aid packages needed in time to make a decision? Well, I've already been accepted to another school with very reasonable tuition so I may have to turn it down even if I do get in (especially if I won't know about financial aid in time). UW is a dream school though and I really love the area, the people and culture of Seattle. Congrats to those of you who got in. You will love it.

For those interested, I spoke to admissions today and they said a bulk of the acceptances will go out on monday
