Under consideration email...at least its better than a flat out "no"
Interviewed 2nd week of Oct.
Interviewed 2nd week of Oct.
Thanks for the info! By the way, are those numbers legit? I mean did Dean Teitz mention those number by herself?Usually the top ~10% of their candidate choices receive acceptances soon after the interview, bottom ~10% get the quick rejection notification, and the other ~80% are picked through the end of March / Beginning of April when all acceptances are decided.

they take about 2-3 weeks.
PERFECT! : )
Also- are there any UW Med Students on here to answer questions?
Sorry Im a bit late, but I am a current first year and I would be happy to try and answer some questions that you have. For what its worth I am so so happy that I chose UW. The medical school and research are fantastic and I adore my classmates.
Feel free to ask me questions!
How do you feel UW does with implementing PBL/small groups into the curriculum? I never quite understood how much PBL UW has since it's definitely a more lecture heavy curriculum.
Does anyone know how long it takes for UW to upload letters from AMCAS? I know most schools do it before you submit your secondary, but it looks like UW waits until you submit your secondary to upload them?
Thanks
What exactly are they looking for during the ethical role play questions?
I answered with "what are the state, federal, and hospital laws and policies?"
It was the wrong answer cause I didn't get last time.
Have an interview again. Want to do better this time!!
Thanks!
This process takes quite awhile....it took me over a month to go from primary screen to getting the secondary then I filled out the secondary in 1 day only to go another 2 months before getting the II. By the time I interview, it'll be almost 5 months since I got my first notice from UW. But you're in good shape. I think UW tends to interview most of the OORs that they give a secondary too; it just takes awhile.

I interviewed on 11/17 and all of the students seemed like quite normal people socially. The student body is very diverse in terms of cultural/educational background/life experiences/etc., and everyone I met seemed very happy to be at UW. As far as the interview goes it was by far the toughest I have had and included a role-play scenario, ethical, and healtcare related questions in addition to discussions about my history, goals, extracurriculars, etc. Additionally, they asked how many schools I have applied to/how many interviews/how many acceptances which I thought was a little weird but whatever. Nothing that was asked of me in the interview was particularly challenging, it was just that all of the questions were a bit difficult if that makes sense so try not to stress and just hang in there. Good Luck everyone! Keeping my fingers crossed! Let me know if you have any questions about interview dayOh, thanks!
Can you talk about what the UWSOM students are like? I mean, I went to UW for undergrad- and there were some craaaaazy premeds....do they all end up there?
Might be time to consider a name change 🙂
I would be curious as to how they weight your response to how many schools you applied to etc. Did they ask where you received interviews or just a quantity of schools?
hey slev, thanks for the link!
for those who have interviewed, is it more about the thought process than getting the right answer? do you just speak aloud your thoughts?
how stressful was it??
Does anyone know if all applicants have to submit their transcripts each semester, or is that only for those accepted? I am referring to the info they put in the 'complete' email. I'm an Idaho applicant and we don't hear about interviews until December or January, so I wasn't sure if I needed to make sure and send a transcript in January.
Any input would be much appreciated!

I think you can simply send an unofficial transcript via email....I'd ask the admissions office if I were you, but that's all they requested from me back when I did it.

The only time I see this question being somewhat of a challenge is when they ask "What will you do if you don't get accepted into medical school this year?"
And that was even before you interviewed/were accepted? But you're right, I'll probably try and get in touch with them since regional interview invites don't go out until next month or January - thanks for the input!
Yep, that was before I interviewed. I called them and asked them about this because my official transcripts were going to be delayed from my school, and they said that an unofficial transcript by email was ok. So call them to make sure the policy didn't change, but I think you would be ok to send them one.
Some acceptances apparently went out yesterday. Got a friend who got in. Pretty sure he'll matriculate.
I'm still waiting on my interview invite :-\
Got a phone call from my excom then an email before thanksgiving. Couldn't be happier!
Acceptances are via email. Sometimes your excom member will also call.
